  1. Definitely somewhere in between. The walman trade is looking worse and worse though. Definitely NEED to see some rookies on this team this year

  2. Steve has spent 5 years building a prospect war chest. It is now time to cash in. Make a move for Zegras. Enough is enough.

  3. Stamkos might’ve cost too much money, and the Wings were smart enough not to spend too much money. I need to scour Erik Gustavsson’s defensive metrics if I can.

  4. I think the Jack Campbell signing could be brilliant if he can get his confidence back. No Risk. I would have been in on Skinner or Foegle.

  5. I think Stamkos was the only deal id be ok with as hes still very productive, but Wings had no shot as he was set on Nasvhille for his family. I agree many contracts will wind up like Franz Neilson and agree to rather let these kids play. Id bring up Nate Danielson imo. Im not sure if Trouba is the answer either as too much baggage from all the drama in NY

  6. very underwhelming day to say the least , I'm not understanding what the Wings r thinking 🤔, I was so excited for today , mind you …. I wouldnt have signed any of those contracts handed out to the big fish that teams landed , I admit now I over hyped myself cause I believe this team is ready to make a big big step but these signings the Wings did tell me it's a long long ways away , oh well , GO Wings

  7. Perron cost the Wings a playoff spot by getting suspended for six games concurrent with Larkin's IR time.

  8. Enjoy 6th place. Yzerman is trying to be some genius by taking all these goofs and making a run on his own terms and it's blowing up in his face. He knows the city of Detroit won't be screaming fire yzerman at the games while paying 150 a ticket for a crap team. I think he was a great player but he blows in the office.

  9. Smart on Steve, there no point going after a top6 forward, they were all demanding term, We need to wait and see witch of the prospects will take the next step assuming MrED and Danialsson are a lock, depending witch of Lomba, Coss, Elmo, Axel, Nygaurd, crack the lineup changes drasticlly who we want to bring in. Plus we can always pick up Kessel on a one year as a bulking mentor for our undersized boys.

  10. Trade Holl for Trouba and trade for Evander Kane. That would really add a needed element of physicality and toughness.

  11. Looking at where Nashville is at, we’re really not ready to start making these moves. Nashville has a really good base and all they needed was a couple more goal scorers. No Norris winner, no Vezina contender. I think Yzerman is still waiting for something else to happen, or just doesn’t feel ready for those splashes.

  12. Definitely a step back this year. We subtracted Walman, Ghost, Sprong and Perron and added nothing.. We have 3 1-B goalies, still stuck with Chirot, Petry and Holl out back and brought in absolutely nobody to improve defense. What the hell was Yzerman talking about when he said, "we need to improve defensively"???

  13. Do you think Kane would be willing to sign here if it was full speed ahead on the youth movement? To me something says no, he wants to at least have a shot at winning. I think there has to be something else in the works.

  14. Your assessment is pretty spot on in my view. I think there is something in the works still. No press conference by steve makes me think the same thing. Big youth movement has to happen. They are all ripening now. Might be a little step back but big things from here.

  15. I was pretty negative about the signings and lack there of, but im starting to come around.
I completely agree that Detroit dodged bullets with some of these contracts being handed out.
It is disappointing to see the wings competition making moves to improve and or extend their competitive windows while detroit basically stands pat, however,

The positives I see are as follows
    1. Theres good players still potentially available via trade, many possible suitors have taken themselves out of the running after spending big in FA.
    2. Minimal signings could signal a bigger youth movement than expected.
This is two fold- young guys graduating to the nhl, and young guys already on the squad taking on a larger role.
We already know edvinsson is on this team full time going forward, as well as jonnie burgers and albert Johansson, barring something drastic.
Between kaspers strong 2nd half and danielson, last year almost making it out of camp, then having a very good final year of junior, perhaps yzerman anticipates one of them taking a job.
An example of a young guy taking on a bigger role this year is Seider. With ghost gone, seider will clearly be running PP1. I assume thats why they didnt bring ghost back, Seider is getting his big boy contract, go do the big boy job and be a true #1. This also makes sense why detroit would be intrested in trouba, someone to take a few tough minutes from seider so he can develop the offensive side of his game. The team needs to be better defensively, not retaining a PP specialist whose a black hole on D helps.

Regarding all the goalies now in the system, gotta imagine something is up with husso that we dont know about. Perhaps its likely he ends up on LTIR, or perhaps he gets bought out during the 2nd buyout window during arbitration.
It would have been to risky to buy him out before free agency.

  16. There some soild top six winger up for trade, like Buchnevich, Ehlers or Necas hopefully Stevie can get one of those guys. And i kinda talked my self into wanting Trouba at a reduced salary. I know his play isn’t what it used to be, but the wings really need 2nd pair righty and tuff-ness. Others then that these young guns need some playing time.

  17. Boy's are getting carried away on today's free agency. You have to remember 15-17 million are going to be set aside for Seider and Raymond. A lot of the contracts signed today by other clubs were long term and over paid. Holl will be difficult to move and likely be bought out. We definitely need another Right D We have one really good right D is Seider, Holl and Petry weakens our right side. One of the goalies are going to move in my view. Do we move Husso, and retain salary.? Fabbri might be a guy that could be moved. The good news Edvinsson, Johannsen should be in our D core. Berggren, Danielson I believe will be in our starting line up. .Gustafsson is better defensively than Ghost. Sprong could still be resigned for one year. Patience please,

  18. Yzerman said day 1 during the press conference April 19th, 2019.. He asked us for Patience. This takes time without 1 overall picks. Do you realize just how bad our boy Kenny Holland left us? Please, fair-weather fans, see your way out of here and wait a year or two.. We are fighting to get in the playoffs.. We're not building to be a one and done like Washington or St Louis, we are building to be in it every year. Tampa just threw in the towel. Their window is likely closing soon. I'd be stunned if they beat Florida next year.

  19. I'm ok with today. Like you said, we dodged some bullets. No, we didn't really get better but that's ok too. I rather see youth being moved up than signing a player to an overpriced contract and being a roadblock for a few seasons.

Also, I think Talbot gives us a good option in goal, and provides options for Husso.

I'm pretty happy we moved on from Perron, especially for the contract he got. I still hope Holl can be moved out and Trouba with retained salary moved in. That would make the defense a fair amount better imo.

  20. Good take on the outrageous contracts signed by other teams. I wanted to call 971 the ticket today when they were blasting Yzerman.
If Yzerman doesn’t do anything else this is a problem but I don’t think he is done. Either way the wings don’t need these bad contracts. Toronto made some awful moves

  21. Young forwards. Danielson, Soderblom, Bergram, Mazar. Some may click. Some may not. You still have veterans to fill in. They have extra goaltenders. They can trade a goalie But still have three goalies, and one could be Cossa. After they sign Valeno, Raymond and Seider, they will probably have $10 million under the cap. Room for trades with teams. If they can get Trouba, squeeze hard on the Rangers who really want to trade him. Make NY retain more salary. Have NY toss in draft choices. Take some chances, without over spending. Feed on the overspending teams.

  22. Not signing Sprong is going to shave 0.3 points off our team GAA and save us $2mil while freeing up a roster spot for young bloods. We got better lol.

  23. I think Kane took a one year deal with an agreement with Stevie that he WOULD be traded at the deadline to a contender. That’s why, in my opinion, Kane gets a huge bonus ($1.5 I think) if he plays just 10 games. I think we struggle before the deadline and he gets his wish to leave.

  24. Bergen needs playing time in the big leagues to show what he's got, but holding on to Veleno, I believe, is monumental mistake. Veleno fizzed out and barely did anything to produce for the Wings, especially during the last half of the season. Hoping that Veleno goes b/c he actually blows as a player. Looks like Wings signed Fischer, but at least with Fischer the Wings had somebody who who made an attempt to contribute on the ice. Veleno didn't give half the effort that Fischer did last season.
