Former Bruin Andrew Raycroft weighs in on the Bruins free agent signings || Jones & Mego

Razer sorry to keep you waiting just reacting to the news here what’s going on uh not much I’m up celebrating Canada day here in beautiful Ontario and uh going going through the Bruins news obviously uh hockey’s uh all over right now here so lots of action and and none but but in all of that being said you you don’t become owner of pro sports teams by buying low and selling high or vice versa I should say yeah buying High selling low doing that the big boy he he knows exactly what he’s doing and he is letting a rip now okay uh Jeremy Jacobs and the Bruins letting it rip in free agency as well Elias lolm zadorov also added how do you feel about the moves pretty expected I think there was a lot of smoke around lolm for the last three months um seemed to be a great fit top Center that was in free agency I’d like the number uh and then the Bruins probably had to reach a little bit on the term it seems and and rightly so uh players love term at this time of year when they can get an extra year or two in their careers and on their contracts they they go for that so uh really like the 775 number for lindol I think he fits in well I assume they’ve done a bunch of homework on on how he fits in the top six and then the center roll and then zadov is just exactly what the Bruins need we hear at every trade deadline get bigger get stronger uh he’s 6’6 250 left shot on the back end and he signs for six years as well which is again probably one more year than um the typical term or what what everyone would love but but that’s the price you kind of have to pay at this time a year and it locks lindol McAvoy and zadorov for the next six years so the Bruins are pretty pretty all set on the backside Razer with linol in particular he had a nice postseason with Vancouver but his numbers during the regular season split between two different teams were a little lower than they had been and he’s only he’s still only 29 years old where are you setting his expectations for his production on this team I know it’s very early but what what kind of ballpark range would you put him in well yeah he needs to get more points than he did last season so you you can you can look at last year and say okay he was in a spot in Calgary where he knew he wasn’t staying so the first half of the year didn’t get anything didn’t have anyone to play with went to Vancouver it took him a few weeks to get acclimated uh he did have a good playoff goal and and that’s that’s positive in the in the recent past looking at years back when he’s actually had real good players to play with uh he’s produced and when he was with kachuck and goodro in in in Calgary he he moved that line and he had the 42 goals and so if I’m if I’m getting a number if I if I get 70 points from him 75 points from him um on that line with let’s say Zach and David posternack uh and and he’s moving the Pucket and he keeps those guys interested and makes them better players then then you’re getting your money’s worth here in the the near term in the event that the next shoot a drop here Razer is that they signed Jeremy Swan that’s not going to leave him with a lot of money to maneuver after that is this type of big I don’t want to say commitment but it is for this team is this type of big commitment of uh of salary what they need in order to uh in order to go forward or do you think they could have maybe gone a little bit more in the depth Direction no this is what they needed to do you you needed to go get a legit top six centerman or top two line centerman and and again lyol was the best of those players and they had to go out and get that player uh I again they’re gonna they have to sign Jeremy Swan they’ll they’ll still have a little bit of money left there’s a few more players I’m sure that will trickle through the organization here in the next couple of days and they’ll be able to build build from that but they they certainly couldn’t they couldn’t go the route of uh what looked like last season where you’re you’re putting a bunch of pieces together and hoping you had to go get one of the top free agents and and in the center position that’s what ilas lyol was should the Bruins have been in on Stam Coast uh I don’t think the Bruins were on Stam Coast list so sure you’re in on the guy like like Steven stos but stepen stos wasn’t coming to Boston um uh other news coming out today tied to the Bruins Jake de Brusque signs seven-year deal with Vancouver how would you categorize the long stint that he had here with the Bruins how do you think and how do you think we’ll look back on it a few years from now well I think it’ll I think I don’t know that’s interesting I think as time goes on you’ll look at the playoff runs that Jake de Brusque was part of and and how he contributed in those especially beating Toronto in in all the rounds that that he was a part of he was a big part of it I think I don’t know if the he’ll ever lose the inconsistency Mark here or he’ll ever lose the um the Bruce Cassidy uh relationship that he had I guess I don’t know if that will go away but I think I think in the long term you you know three four years from now whenever Jake de brus comes back into town he’s only going to do that once a year for the next seven years by the looks of it so we’re not going to see a lot of Jake debrus and I think people will speak fondly of it over the next four or five years when do you think they’re going to get Swan done and why does it never seem like this happens quickly with him um well I think that’s a I don’t when does it get it gets done um at this point now now you have to believe they have a pretty good number uh in their head on both sides of kind of where they’re at they have to be kind of close number-wise uh it it could drag out another month or two uh in in just the fact that the it doesn’t there’s no pressure um I think that Jeremy Swan is in a position to to Really you know Force the hand and and his agent especially listen the agents are the ones that are that are driving the bus now Jeremy San did his work in April and May it’s now the agent and and he’s going to push real hard here he because he can and he knows it so I think that’s really the reason why it might drag out a little bit is just because the agents and and the lawyers are involved and and they’re going to try and get every single dollar but I the i i there’s nothing that tells me or makes me think that we’re not going to see Jeremy Swan on October 10th against Montreal okay he’s Andrew rayt check out his work on nessen Razer we’ll talk to you down the line thanks so much you got it happy fourth everybody all right Andrew roft happy fourth to you happy Canada Day

  1. Of course Sweeney gave him every opportunity ( should have been gone years ago!!!) to succeed and he was terrible!!!

  2. at this point of lindholms career.. one should really expect 60pts in the regular season.. he's had only 2 season of 70+ points in his career..

  3. Love the pick ups huge!! But we still haven’t brought any scoring in for pasty.. we said we needed more scoring? Lol

  4. The B's got worse. Now they'll spend ridiculous for Swagman and NO more cups.
How can you listen the loser Raycroft he says and knows nothing.

  5. I think we didnt do enough for offense. We will cont to struggle scoring. Zacha sucks as long as we still play him we arent doing shit in playoffs him and Coyle were pathetic

  6. I think Sweeney is a great hockey mind, but he is constrained by Jeremy Jacobs who has never swung for the fences. We needed Sam Reinhart not Lindholm. Who pairs with Pastrnak and Lindholm. Marchand? He is 36! If Debrusk goes, our next most experienced Winger is Van Reimsdyk who is 35 and Brazeau who has less than a full season. We are so unbalanced and if Reinheart resigns with Florida how do we beat the Panthers in the playoffs next year.
If Jeremy Jacobs is not going to give Sweeney the deep money to get the talent he REALLY needs to win a Cup, let him build the team thru Providence, which takes time, and ketvthe fans know that.

  7. ds did good today. good riddens on JB man vancouver will see soon enough what fraud nhl player will not rise during the post season

  8. Nice to get some fresh blood in the room– Zadorov and Lindholm Jr will be fun additions that give the team a better chance to go further in the playoffs.
Seems like Boozie wanted to get as far away as possible…. looking forward to the first report of Tocchet calling out his conditioning/attitude/effort/productivity.

  9. Clearly Boston had zero interest in retaining DeBrusk. I think Sweeney is looking into a trade, they’re not done yet.
