A week after a disappointing Game 7 loss, fans of the Edmonton Oilers were back to celebrating after a successful opening day of NHL free agency. Jeff Jackson, the interim general manager, went all in recruiting Viktor Arvidsson, Jeff Skinner and Josh Brown to the Oilers. Meanwhile, he also re-signed Mattias Janmark, Adam Henrique and Connor Brown making the forward group look dangerous heading into next season.

The Kane hip injury was news to me. Knew about the hernia but not this. Explains quite a lot. Curious to see what surgery it is that he needs. If it’s hip resurfacing he’s as good as done.

Gourde and Larsson should be high on the Oilers list of trade targets. Gourde was huge for the Bolts during their Cup wins. A key depth player for them.
