$800k. I like it. Big defenseman who took less money to join the Paul Maurice reclamation school. Get Lundell done and sign/trade for a RHD and we’re cooking. Getting one or both of Swaggy and Bennett done on top of these moves would make this an A+ offseason in my books

Perfect OEL replacement. Apparently he was very good in his 5/6D role for the jets last season but 6 million AAv was too much for that so they bought him out. Zero risk and reasonable upside

Really solid defenseman, and he’s familiar with PoMo. I’m a fan

Nice finally a defenseman! This is probably for the 3rd pair with kulikov right? So we’d still need a montour replacement? Would they put kulikov or balinskis with mikkola?

This will be interesting. He’s injured often these days but there’s a very good player in there if he can stay healthy.

I gotta wonder if this since this is a 1 year deal, he took the pay cut because he thinks they can pull off another cup next season. If he gets his name on the cup, he can negotiate for a crap ton more money than anything that was offered to him this year from any teams. Short term pain, for a long term gain maybe?

Welcome to the “Revive your career” program, we the Panthers are happy to help you earn a big contract next year

Does anyone know the backstory? CapFriendly shows He had a contract with Vegas that was almost $6M but it shows Winnipeg bought him out?

Based on the way Jets fans talked about him in r/hockey, I love this signing. Super cheap and for a 3rd D pairing, you can do *MUCH* worse. Good job Zito!

  10. I was wondering how soon the caps fan in me would end up in conflict with the cats 🙁
