They’ll share what Barry Trotz was willing to do to make sure the young Russian Egor Surin landed with the Predators. Teddy Stiga may wind up the steal of the draft, and they discuss what it is about his game that makes him so appealing for the Nashville system. Great show ladies, Emma appreciate your dog making a cameo on the podcast haha (obviously he missed you while you were gone!). I like the Predators draft—seen ranges of grades around B/C (which you can put a lot of stock in or not). As an aside Beckett Sennecke's reaction was my favorite reaction/moment of the night (non-Preds related). His reaction is life sometimes lol. I liked what Barry Trotz and Kealty did—Sulin kind of reminded me of a sandpaper type of player that will fit in perfectly in Nashville. Stiga also hyped for–my question regarding the draft is it seems like Barry got some skill and excitement he was looking for but wandering with Saros locked in for 8 years what is the end game with Askarov? Identity picks in this draft I can get around but Barry is obviously wanting a major piece/assets for Askarov. This is the second year in a row Barry has used him as a trade chip to try to get an impact piece and that has not come to pass yet? There seems to be a discrepancy between Barry's value of him and what teams are willing to offer. I'm thinking he somehow winds up on the roster if not in Milwaukee (which I'm fine with–in either case I feel like resolution might take a while). It's like Jedi mind tricks with this kid—haha. Hopefully in whatever case the team gets what it needs in this retool! Emma all in on your Chandler Stephenson pick for Nashville! Love the kid!
The annoyance amongst fans is that the Preds used an 11th OA pick on a backup goalie. And the fact that Askarov was picked ahead of Jarvis, Mercer, and Lundell. All young, promising centers, who would be the top young players on Nashville.
While watching your show I´m reading that the Predators have signed Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchesseault and Brady Skjei. The Preds are All In and this franchise is not in any kind of rebuild mode right now. So it makes perfect sense to sign Saros, but what really puzzles me is that now they actually don´t have enough cap space to sign Juuse Saros on his 8 years 7,74 millions AAV deal. On the other hand if they manage to clear cap space they could still sign Saros. According to Capfriendly ( Stamkos, Marchesseault and Skjei are already put in the Preds roster ) the Preds have 5,845,801 millions left of cap space. And their roster size is 18/23.
I’m so excited for this year’s draft class, what a haul! What I’m not that happy about is the actual Predators YouTube channel. Pretty much every NHL team has posted something on their channels within the last couple of weeks, some of them within a couple hours of the draft. The Predators last video posted was 2 years ago. I know you guys have nothing to do with their channel, lol I just didn’t know if you guys knew the person that runs their content. It’s just a bummer that my team doesn’t get involved with their fan base on YouTube as much as the other teams. That’s why I value you guys and your content so much…. It’s my only access to Preds news and “inside scoops”. Thanks guys and sorry for the rant.
