I feel like every time I read the conditions I get a different understanding.
Is the best case scenario for us Florida not winning the draft lottery and Calgary being in the top 10? That way Florida's pick goes to Montreal instead of ours?

From what I understand, both Florida and Calgary’s picks are T10 lottery protected, but we send the best pick not protected.
There’s about 25 conditions on these picks so if I am wrong, i apologize.
You are correct, we want to send the Florida pick to MTL next year, hopefully they are a contender again so it doesn’t sting as much
Florida makes another deep run in the playoffs and we get 1st overall is the absolute best case.
A more likely scenario is we get a top 10 pick, Florida makes the playoffs so we give Montreal a 17-32 OA pick.
Worst case is both Calgary and Florida finish bottom 10 and we give Montreal the best one. Or the Flames finish with the 11th overall pick and have to hand it over.
Basically we give up the better pick unless one is in the top 10.
If we draft top 10, and Florida doesn’t fall off a cliff and win the draft lottery, then they’re getting Florida’s pick.
If we finish 11, or better, they’re taking our pick.
This is all that is really relevant right now. Florida just went to two cup finals, won one, and will be a strong team next year. They will be a playoff team. We just need to finish bottom 10, and I feel like we will.
Essentially, you don’t want Florida to be a lottery pick. They will retain the rights to the 2025 pick if so and we get their 2026 pick.
Essentially if we recieve Florida’s pick because it is NOT a lottery pick, MTL will take the better pick unless we are in the Top 10.
If Florida’s pick IS a lottery pick we are likely fucked.
They will take our first irregardless of where it is UNLESS it is 1st overall. Then they will take our 3rd rounder for 2025 and the BETTER of the picks in 2026.
You want Florida to be good essentially. If they are bad you better hope we are good. I’m hoping we are good anyways though.
How does new jerseys draft pick play into this situation?

2025 1st round pick (CGY) [Conditional]*
*Conditions: 1. If CGY’s 2024 1st round pick is between 20 and 32, MTL can take that pick instead. Result: TBD
Scenario: In the event CGY receives FLA’s 2025 1st round pick:
1. If both CGY AND FLA’s picks are NOT top 10, MTL will receive the better of the CGY and FLA 2025 1st round picks. Result: TBD
2. If CGY’s pick is top 10, AND FLA’s pick is NOT top 10, MTL receives FLA’s pick. Result: TBD
Scenario: In the event CGY does NOT receive FLA’s 1st round pick:
Sub-scenario: CGY’s pick is NOT top 10
1. MTL will receive the CGY pick, and
2. If FLA’s pick is not top 10, is a better pick than CGY’s, and was transferred to another team due to prior conditions, MTL will also receive CGY’s 2025 4th round pick.
Result: TBD
Sub-scenario: CGY’s pick is top 10:
1. If CGY’s pick is 1st overall, MTL will receive CGY’s 2025 3rd, and the better of CGY and FLA’s 2026 1st round pick. Result: TBD
2. If CGY’s pick is 2nd to 10th, MTL receives CGY’s 2025 1st round pick. Result: TBD
Also what will our future considerations become?
