[Johnston] Hearing the Sens are sending a draft pick along with Mathieu Joseph to Blues for future considerations. Clears salary in Ottawa as Joseph had two more years under contract at a $2.95M AAV.

Hmm I don’t hate this considering we got paid to take him. Not an exciting add but could be a solid bottom sixer

Joseph is a great complimentary piece who makes about a million too much on his contract. He’s quick, competent offensively, not a defensive liability, and can fit on any line.
It’s legit a bummer to see him leave the Sens.

Wonder if the Blues are stocking up on forwards that are competent defensively to offset the d men that sometimes arnt.
Seems kinda smart considering

Damn, I just ordered my future considerations jersey

This sounds like the kind of guy to pair with Kyrou!

Don’t we have enough guys in our bottom 6? I’ll happily take the pick

This is pretty nice tbh. Solid player.

I like this trade. Joseph may just need a change of scenery, and even if we just put him on waivers we get to keep the 3rd round pick. There’s a lot of potential upside without risking much of anything here.

I don’t understand what the objective is.
Trade a 2nd to get rid of a bottom 6 forward and his contract.
Then acquire another bottom 6 guy making slightly less with the same term and get a 3rd.
If this was a team that was close to being real contenders, I guess it makes sense but that’s not the case.
Are they rebuilding, retooling, or just winging it?

That’s not the winger I wanted from Ottawa
