When Will Jeremy Swayman Sign? 2024-25 Bruins Schedule Highlights
the Bruins made a splash in free agency on Monday and now everybody’s asking what about sway you’re locked on Bruins your daily podcast on the Boston Bruins part of the locked on podcast Network your before we get started a quick reminder you can find the podcast on social media at locked NHL Bruins and you can find me my dad jokes hockey thoughts atnc McLaren I am a lifelong Bruins fan been covering this team for various outlets for 20 years was a full-time hockey news editor at the score and have been hosting this podcast since 2019 now on Monday the Boston Bruins made a splash in free agency by signing both Center Elias Lindholm and defenseman Nikita zadorov as well as depth forwards Max Jones Riley tufty and they had already of course traded lenus almark to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Mark Castell and Unis corbas Salo and the 25th overall pick which ended up being Dean louro the big question now is when is Jeremy Swan going to sign and Don Sweeney was asked that when meeting with reporters on Monday um yeah when is this happening San he said is a big part of this whole dynamic of what we’re trying to put together it’s a priority for the Bruins to get him signed they’re going to continue to find a negotiated landing spot and the timing is what it is however long that takes it’s not impacted by what the Bruins did on Monday they’re in a great spot to find the best negotiated deal they can find for both sides and that is key there what he said the best negotiated deal neither side has an appetite to go back to arbitration which is where his valuation for this past season was decided um he has made it clear he does not want to go through that process again it was not fun those hearings can tend to be a little bit personal because you’re hearing all the things your employer uh doesn’t like about you or all the reasons why they feel your value should be lower than what you think you’re worth uh Jeremy Swan is arbitration eligible and I think the deadline is July 15th to accept the qualifying offer uh before heading into arbitration talks but as far as uh he and the team are concerned neither has an appetite to go to arbitration they’re going to take however long it takes in order to figure out a deal now the Bruins of course have made their big moves in free agency we’ll talk a bit later on about how they appear to be done signing um and currently they still have quite a bit of cap space in order to get something done with San they have projected cap space of 8.63 six million dollar that should be more than enough to get it done uh they’re probably talking at the moment about the valuation I would expect that it would be a full eight-year term but maybe the Bruins want it to be closer to $7 million maybe Swan wants it to be closer to $8 million um we’ll have to see where exactly they come in the Bruins I’m sure would also like some measure of flexibility in terms of the cap they don’t want to go straight to the max before training camp they want to um have some flexibility Don Sweeney even said that on Monday very few teams are set or fully happy with their rosters as of July 1 and there’s uh three points in the season that I always talk about in terms of where you evaluate the roster after free agent signings on opening night because through training camp all through the summer there’s opportunities to add guys who have falling through the cracks on value contracts to invite players to training camp on professional Tri out offers so what you see on cat friendly or once that’s gone puckpedia is not necessarily what the opening night roster is going to look like and then finally you look at post trade deadline and what the roster looks like after making some moves and then there’s always right as the playoffs begin as well because as we all know there’s the opportunity to go over over the cap once um the playoffs begin so at any rate I’m sure Don Sweeney wants some measure of flexibility uh they have 8636 remaining in available cap space they have 13 forwards signed right now to the NHL roster but a few of those will probably go down to the AHL I’m looking at Vinnie latier Patrick Brown um you have seven defenseman on the roster and currently one goalie sign so that is 13 plus 7 plus one you get 21 23 maybe 22 man roster that they carry depending on if they have an extra forward or two and an extra defenseman so when’s this going to happen well Jeremy Swan was spotted at Bruins development camp on tues Tuesday so it’s not as if he is Incognito or staying away from the team or the organization he was on the bench at Warrior Ice Arena watching on as Bruin’s prospects ran through some drills uh which is a good sign it’s not a sign that there is a deal that is imminent but it does indicate that he’s committed to the Bruins he’s wanted to see what’s going on and looking at yeah just the overall well-being of the organization ation over the summer what’s coming through the pipeline uh on Boston hockey now they have Bruins Player Development coordinator Adam McQuade quoted as saying guys have been around it’s great for the prospects to see some of the current players there’s been some interaction and stuff like that but nothing formal um again Don Sweeney saying they’re going to continue to find a negotiated landing spot meaning something that both parties have worked out free from arbitration where uh Swan got a one-year uh contract worth what was it 3.75 um so yeah that’s where things stand at the moment with Jeremy Swan who is as important to Boston’s success this coming season and Beyond as anybody on the roster um so that’s it hopefully they can get him signed sooner or later I know a lot of people are feeling a bit anxious about it I do believe this will get done and that there should be no dangers of an offer sheet or trade requests or anything like that this will get done and Jeremy Swan will be the guy in net for the Boston Bruins for quite some time now are the Bruins done that’s a question that we will contemplate here as the podcast continues we are deep in the dog days of summer there’s no more basketball there’s no more hockey a lot of you are focusing rightly on Major League Baseball and if you’re looking to go to a game at Fenway Park or any other major league baseball stadium around uh North America game time is the best place to check it’s an authorized ticket Marketplace of Major League Baseball which makes getting tickets faster and easier prices on the app actually go down the closer it gets to first pitch they well download the game time app create an account and use code locked on NHL for $20 off your first purchase terms do apply but again create an account redeem code locked on NHL for $20 off download YouTube while you’re on YouTube check out locked on sports today all the latest news analysis opinions from across the lockon universe free on YouTube and the Amazon Fire TV channels app so the Bruins do have like I said about 8.64 is million in available cap space and there’s some questions as to whether they are done signing obviously they prioritized defense and the center position in free agency by signing zadorov and lindol and you could argue whether or not the Bruins should have perhaps also invested in uh in a Winger but it appears as though and we’ll talk about this more uh in the days to come that there’s an opportunity for someone internally to grab a spot and um again if you look at the top six You could argue the Bruins have five four maybe top six forwards there uh depending on if you think Charlie Coyle is best suited as a third line Center uh fluto shinzawa of the athletic this morning posting his first look at the Bruins uh depth chart for uh October he’s thinking their opening night roster may be set with Pavo zaka playing with lindol and daavid posto Brad Marshon with Charlie Coyle Morgan geeki Trent Frederick with Matt ptra and Justin brazzo and then Max Jones newly signed with Johnny beer and Mark Castell however and you can argue again does Morgan geeki belong in the top six does Charlie Coyle belong there would it be better if ptra steps up will his trajectory continue upwards um still kind of thin up front and the Bruins could really use some more scoring power I floated the idea of Philip ziden as a PTO candidate zaka Zaden past not could be a nice little checkline yes he has not popped but it could be a good situation for him with some fellow countrymen um but there is room for some improvement up front and the Bruins as much as yeah they prioritized the center position and getting bigger on the blue line harder to play against one of the big problems with the this team in the playoffs and all season long was an inability to score an inability to really get some offense going they were regularly outshot out out attempted uh Etc now if they’re going to add it could be from below and Don SMY made it clear that Georgie merkulov Fabian lysel perhaps even a guy like Riley Duran they need to pin their ears back quote your butt off this summer and come with the intent that there will be an opportunity if you’re the best player they’ll find a way to get them in the lineup um so there’s a real opportunity here for some youth to jump in and that’s what a lot of us have been wanting have been hoping for big complaint when merkulov was recalled last season was that he was not put in a position to succeed he was placed in the bottom six given defensive minutes very few minutes there could be a real opportunity here alongside Marshon and either coil or ptra on the right side of the second line and Sweeney said before lysel was injured he was uh looking pretty good and unfortunately he was uh thinged up later in the season probably would have gotten a look as a callup uh so he’s going to have a real opportunity as a fast skilled right-hand shot to come in and grab a spot if he doesn’t pop if merkulov doesn’t jump up worst case ptra regresses then the Bruins will have a real problem in terms of who to pop into those holes and real questions as to whether they go fishing at the trade deadline next season um Jones Castell should be helpful in terms of the forche you’re hoping for uh similar uh upsides from beer and brazzo Dre Frederick perhaps he steps up and becomes what Jake de BR Jake debrusk was for this team a scoring threat who can play in all positions or in all situations with some more offensive upside but as of right now I’m I’m still a little concerned about Boston’s ability to score and um maybe lindol playing with POS becomes the point per game player that we saw him achieve a few times in Calgary perhaps zadorov uh rediscovers the offensive game that led to him being drafted so high back in 2016 um maybe yeah ptra explodes maybe lysel becomes a cder candidate um or maybe they realize they needed to put some more effort into signing a Winger and they look the PTO route or a value player still available in free agency Kyler Yamamoto is available uh at this point it’ll be guys that you’re hoping you can perhaps get something and if not you cut your losses send them to the AHL or whatever and um and see what else is going on but it would be good to have a bit of insurance there so the Bruins um are insulated if and most likely when they continue to struggle uh to score now what we do know for sure is that they will play a full 82 games and the schedule was released yesterday we’re going to take a look at some of the key games on the Bruin schedule here as the podcast continues all right Bruins fans bust out your calendars because here are some games you want to Circle for this upcoming season the Bruins will open the 2024 2025 campaign on national TV with a rematch of their second round playoff series with the eventual Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers in Sunrise on October 8th yes they’re going to have to sit through a Stanley Cup of banner raising maybe that will give them a bit of motivation to get past the Panthers if it comes to that uh in 2025 two nights later the Bruins will return home to kick off their home schedule against the Montreal Canadians that will begin a three-game home stand that will include a game against the Los Angeles Kings and the Florida Panthers again on the 12th and 14th respectively um that 12th game I believe is Thanksgiving up here in Canada and a holiday down in the states as well um if you recall last season the Bruin started off with a bunch of West Coast or Western Conference games at least they’ll be playing some division Rivals here early on October 19th they’ll make their first trip to Salt Lake City for a matchup against the newly formed Utah Hockey Club uh a week later they will host the Rival Maple Leafs with a rematch of their first round seven game series victory over Toronto from this past uh fall or this past spring on November 9th lenus olar will make his return to Boston after being to traded to the Senators earlier this month um on November 26th longtime Winger Jake debrus as well as Danon Heinen Derek forbort will make their return to Boston after signing with the Vancouver Canucks programming note I’m planning to speak to Thomas Dr Who is based in Vancouver a former score colleague of mine to discuss why the Canucks targeted de Brusque specifically as well as Heinen and uh forbort uh so expect that conversation later this week on December 1st which happens to be my birthday the Centennial Celebration will culminate with an afternoon tilt against the Montreal Canadians a 100 years to the day after the Bruins first ever game uh that will be a memorable one would love love love to get down to Boston for that one if anybody can help make that happen on December 19th the Bruins will visit Conor McDavid and the Western Conference Champion Oilers the Oilers will be in Boston on January 7th on February 8th the Bruins will host Bruce Cassidy and the golden knights in their final game before a two-week break for the four nations Faceoff we already know that Charlie McAvoy Brad Marshon will be taking part in that uh and yeah always interesting when Bruce Cassidy comes back to town and then finally the Bruins will close out the regular season with a game against the Devils at home on April 15 their longest road uh trip will be five games December 10th to 19th at Winnipeg Seattle Vancouver Calgary Edmonton another one in March Vegas San Jose LA Anaheim and Detroit they’ll have uh six three-game home stands they will not have a stretch longer than uh three games at home which is interesting again there’ll be a break for the four nations Faceoff between February 12th and the 20th that will take place in Montreal and Boston and then there’s 10 sets of back-to-backs the first is November second and third at Philly and versus Seattle and then the last is in April versus Carolina and at Buffalo so yeah it’s going to be very excited exciting I can’t wait for Bruins hockey to get back uh it’s going to be a long summer but we remain daily here on the locked on Boston Bruins podcast uh for the month of uh July and like I said we’re going to be talking coming up this week about the signings of former Bruins in uh Vancouver we’re going to talk about development camp that happened this week uh we’re going to discuss the opportunities that lie ahead for these Bruins more in depth including lysel Georgie merkulov could be a make or break season here for lysel as well as um yeah all the latest here on the Boston Bruins including hopefully a um uh an announcement in terms of Jeremy Swan signing with the Boston Bruins all right that’s it friends thank you so much for taking some time to listen today to locked on Boston Bruins I hope you’re all doing well taking care of yourselves taking care of each other tomorrow of course is the 4th of July so happy and safe 4th to all of you celebrating in America I’ll single day take care friends
After making a splash in free agency by signing Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov, all attention turns to the Boston Bruins signing goaltender Jeremy Swayman.
They have the cap space, so what’s the hold up? Neither party wants to go to arbitration, so it seems like a matter of time before the deal gets done, but every day that passes raises the anxiety a little bit.
Other than that, is Boston done looking at free agent? The Bruins did not sign a prominent winger, hoping instead that Max Jones can provide value and someone internally can step up.
Plus, a look at some notable games on the 2024-25 Bruins schedule.

If sway goes to arbitration would the bruins trade his rights? 2 years in a row wouldn’t look good for either of them
Can you do something about your background it looks unprofessional, other then that good show!
The bruins could pull a goalie off the street and get him to play well
Swayman is RFA correct? why is no other team putting on an offer for him? they could've already made the deal and are not figuring out how to pay him during each year.
