Devils got bent over on this one. You're correct, I thought Holtz might be a piece in a more significant trade. Why would you trade a 7th overall pick for a 115th? How does that make any sense for Jersey. Bad asset management.

Cotter will have a bigger impact on the Devils than Holtz.
As a Devils fan, I'm not sure I've seen this bad a trade period, let alone Devils trade in a while. Yes, Holtz wasn't living up to 7th overall draft status, but our GM publicly said he sucked in a press conference this year then wonders why he's having a hard time using him as a piece in deals. Absolute train wreck of a GM and setting himself up for failure on Monday needing to fill too many holes in the roster that he created.
At first, i thot Jersey got fleeced…a 7th overall plus a young 24 yr old goalie…for a 4th rd pick and a bottom six forward. I don't know much about these players, except what ive read, in which case id say the balance heavily favours Vegas…and it's a ghastly trade by the Daemons and I'm wondering wtf TF was thinking??! Vegas got younger and probably/likely better👏 which they really needed to do!….Well done Kelly McCrimmon on both trades! Cotter is a 24 year old bottom six solid who is hard to play against with some offensive upside.. and untapped potential to be even better and should really help NJD in that way as a proven commodity!! The 4th rounder…who knows how what they get…but could hit a single, a double…or maybe even a HR🤞?… This is a wait and see kind of trade….Nolan Patrick for Cody Glass did not pan out for the Knights….but it's in the books…and looks like a potential steal for Vegas…got a good feeling about Cotter though(!)…best wishes to both teams
