What are the expectations for Slafkovsky next season?

With the Canadiens signing Juraj Slafkovsky to eight-year, $60.8M extension on Monday, what should be the expectations for the 20-year-old in his third NHL season? Martin Biron joins 7-Eleven That’s Hockey to weigh in.

  1. 60-70 points with strong two way play. Give he was point per game over the last 50 games I’d say those numbers are easily attainable.

  2. Still mid-expectations. He's on his last year of ELC and he's still developing. My general expectations won't raise until at least next year depending on what kind of year we are getting for 24/25. I guess my biggest expectation is Kirby Dach playing a full season lmfao.

  3. They were kinda forced to start him earlier than they should’ve (they were that bad).
So put the rookie season down as ‘advanced’ development. If you need a label, call last year his rookie season.

  4. My expectations are 50+ points with small improvements in the two way game. He's entering year 3 of his elc, it's unfair to expect him to be a 7.5 million dollar player this season

  5. I feel like Montreal is building right, locking down players while young and affordable, and the roster is actually full with great potential instead of being back or front heavy

  6. slaf is only 20 years old, and 230 lbs. i like how he turned it around this past season. really happy for the kid. the potential is there for him to do so much more.

MTL with gm hughes is doing an excellent job with the rebuild. he's locking down the core assets at long-term fair and fixed labor costs.

the fans there in montreal are smart (albeit a bit crazy at times lol) so the canadiens can take reasonable time to set the team up for competitive p-off success.

  7. I love the optimistic math used on a very uneven season; ignore the slow start and use the strong finish as the baseline for next season. He'll probably get close to 50 points
