Credit to Matt Fairburn for the question. Having a guy on the team whose attitude is “I’ll go hard in the corners / forecheck / front of the net to retrieve the puck for our skill players” is something valuable to have.

I like the direction we were terrible at this last season. We went and tried to solve the problem. This is important for the development of our core. Make the finesse guys feel comfortable and let them get scoring

  3. Lindy said early on the biggest issues he identified after watching tape is that we don’t score “playoff style goals” and this is absolutely true. net front goals, greasy goals, tip ins. This also hurt us in our PP last year which was a major reason for our struggles (if not THE major reason) Lindy also said he wanted to see more guys who are willing to go into the corners, add some physicality, make room for our skill guys to flourish.

Sounds like Zuck could be an answer to some of that and I’m hopeful Sabres pro scouts identified a nice add here. This alongside our bottom 6 changes have raised my spirits. While I still wouldn’t be mad to see another Wing or C on the roster I also think we have some prospects that could fight for that job and don’t cost us futures.

Sounds like a Lindy Ruff guy to me. Which is good! I’m not unhappy about his signing. I’m unhappy about the lack in replacement for skinner.
