Question – will trading Jarry make the Graves , Smith , Karlsson and Bemstrom and nieto and Harkins and Accari better acquisitions ?
It's so simple to me. The goal for an organization should be to do whatever they can to win a Cup.
Are the Pens going to win a Cup through re-tooling with their meagre assets? No. Hell no.
So there's no choice. You tear it down to the studs because that's the only possible route that can work.
And after you do that, you manage it better than some teams in recent years did. Not a high bar there.
Once a team commits to being a bubble team for 10 years, everyone involved in that decision should be fired or replaced. They are unprepared to do what is necessary to win, and not worthy of the job.
Get used to no cup contender for the next decade?? Don't say that Dan! I'm 71 so not sure I'll make it man!
The goal should be making this organization better. So, at the deadline when this team is floundering and looking like they might make the playoffs, but not really then have hard discussions with 58, 71 and 65 about moving to cup contenders for assets. Let 87 decide if he wants another one or if he wants to help mentor youth. They will not have success with this core.
