oh boy some nap that was that took 4 hours I was out like a light a uh and as a result when I woke up there’s a whole bunch of news that I feel like I need to talk about and this is the headliner of it all the biggest contract given out to one of the top players on the team the Montreal Canadians have signed Yu slowski to an 8year contract extension take a look at this Montreal Canadians GM Kent Hughes announced on Monday that the team has agreed to terms on an 8year 60.8 million contract from 2526 to 20 3233 with forward y lvovsky the deal will pay him an aav of 7.6 million now before we dive into anything else other than that that’s a good contract that’s a very very good contract 7.6 million a year for a guy who just put up 50 points in 82 games played in his second NHL season and who’s probably going to get better 7.2 for a guy who’s only 20 years old can’t use my gosh did I say 7.2 I meant 7.6 my bad this is a great contract sovi 20 years old produced 50 points in 82 games at the Canadians in 2324 skating in his second season in the NHL he ranked third on the team in goals and hits fourth and assists in points and first among forwards with 71 blocked shots SLO became the first player in the the team’s history to record 40 points in a single season before the age of 20 when he collected an assist on March 26 in Colorado see that’s a great thing to include in the article here like all these other writeups just talk about oh he had this amount of points when he was 18 in the World Junior tournament or whatever like people don’t really talk too much about the modernday stuff unless it’s something like this he goes out there and breaks hory re shards record that’s crazy on March 2nd in Tampa Bay the Ford skated in his 100th NHL career game SLV kovski also scored his first NHL hatrick on March 28th against the Philadelphia Flyers theosis Slovakia native had set a career-high with a nine game point streak from March 29th to 28th in which he tallied two goals and eight assists once the NHL regular season ended slowski represented team Slovakia at the 2024 IHF World Championship where he recorded eight assists in eight total games selected first overall by the Canadians 2022 the 632 30b Winger is leading his draft class in games played goals assists and points two seasons after being drafted and honestly depending on how things go the next few years we could very well see him stay at the top of that list the 2022 draft is filled with a lot of good names I mean Shane Wright of course is the other one that everybody was talking about Logan KY has just played his 82nd NHL game Kevin kinsky is a good defenseman in the Chicago system in tuov same thing a lot of guys here can be very good NHL players but there is only one Yu slavoski and he will be a Montreal Canadian for the next 8 years let’s go Kent Hughes this was a necessary piece of business and heading into the next few years with the mrock Canadians having all of these guys unlock Cole Coffield is signed on let’s see how cap Friendly’s rival pedia ends up working out here cap projection is that what we want to look at no I want to see the breakdown yes okay here it is so taking a look at puckpedia right here having Nick Suzuki on tap till 2027 2028 at 7.8 million having Coffield locked on to the same pretty much time frame at 7.8 million and now having slavkovsky onto the same time frame at 7.6 million actually no not till 2728 Suzuki’s on till 2030 that’s what puckpedia looks like okay Coffield is on till 2031 slowski is on until 2033 we’ve got the next decades worth of Canadian hockey was all of these guys making what 7.8 plus 7.8 plus 7.6 they’re making $23 million combined what would you rather have one John Taris and Austin Matthews or one of Suzuki Coffield and slavkovsky in a bundle I don’t know about you but I think three forwards is better than two and these three guys if they pan out to their potentials Suzuki Coffield slowski they’re going to be amazing not to men mention Ian demidov in the system still too lots to like here for the Montreal Canadians let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about your ice slovsky’s $7.6 million extension that takes him till 2033 I hope you enjoyed this v99 I got to make some other videos because a lot of other stuff just happened and bye

  1. Jeff Skinner going to the Oilers is gonna be scary. Jeff averaged 1.25 goals per 60 mins past 3 seasons combined which is top 10 in the league now he’s with arguably the best passer in the league…

  2. I dont get why people call the goal and assist on the numbers of games as a main stats of players without considering the time they played in average each of theses games.

  3. MTL has now set a very good precedent for all the young guys maturing into the system. I think it makes sense to sign our young forwards long term quickly, and I believe they will do bridge contracts for the young defencemen coming up. This is looking like a good salaray cap situation for Montreal.

    Remember, this Slaf contract starts in 2025. This is reminding me of the 2010s Bruins, great team for over a decade, with a bunch of great players with team friendly contracts. This might be my favorite time to be a Habs fan in the last 25 years.
