Tanev not worried about all the extra noise that comes with playing in Toronto

Chris Tanev joined TSN’s James Duthie to talk about how much being able to return home factored into his decision to play for the Maple Leafs, the tough decision to leave the Stars, dealing with the media circus in Toronto and more.

  1. oh Chris, you're happy now, but Rielly will age you with his lazy, sloppy play and in the end it will be YOUR fault…good luck.

  2. Leafs love the fake season each yr, he'll be fine for that. Toronto should pay the LAK, to buy the Kings name. It's more relevant; other than Telecoms.

  3. Good signing. People are crying about term because they’re just upset the Leafs got what they needed. The Leafs are the richest club in professional ice hockey….they can and will buy Tanev out towards the end.

  4. Its a good signing. The Leafs have a 4 year window to win a cup so 6 years ain't no big thing. Its about winning now.

  5. really …..whats hes our savoir?( going to do the double phinuff) as a leafs fan for over 30 years i see same shit different year, guarantee they will be out in the first round again….

  6. He's the one factor on the backend that this team has been lacking. If we can get the right Marner trade, maybe we can get one more solid righty on D and some cap space for another gritty winger.

  7. Chris tanev was and still is one of the best Dmen in the league. I still think hes the bonafied #1 shutdown Dman in the NHL. Of course im Bias because im a canucks stan, but tanev is really really good.

  8. Always liked Tanev, but seriously, guy is gonna be 35, two months into the season, and his injury frequency, and recovery time, is only going to increase with age.

This is not a "good signing". It's a very risky signing, and I would be surprised if he isn't injured long-term, in his very first season with Toronto.

I wish the guy the best though, as he's a heart and soul player. We'll see how things unfold.

  9. TORONTO PROJECTED CAP HIT : $88,794,667 PROJECTED LTIR USED : $0 PROJECTED CAP SPACE: $0 (-$794,667 ) Leafs 794K in the hole as they sit.

  10. amazing signing, term doesnt matter, leafs wont be competing after the next 4 years. When he is aged we will be rebuilding

  11. 6 yrs? Lol the dude is 35….. typical Treliving MASS overpayment. Brutal signing. FYI google J Huberdeau…. 😂😂

  12. He’s injury prone. Leaf Nation will be lucky if he plays more than 40 games this season. Luv Tanev but it’s the way he plays.

  13. This will end in a buyout or LTIR. But good move considering the leafs have no money because of the Marner and JT contracts.

  14. When my Canucks let him go several years back I always thought the Leafs should have been all over Tanev as a partner for Reilly.

    Better late than never.

  15. I definitely like the moves we have made but I'm still not sold on this core. When you watch the cup you see just how good a team needs to consistently play to win the cup and the leafs just don't have that experience. I want to be wrong so glg
