If we get a very strong offer I would take it, but I wouldn't push the issue. He can be huge for us on the pp for the rest of his contract.
Well, that's exactly it. Either we keep him for the veteran presence on the younger players, or maybe by the end of the season, if Kent Hughes is offered an impossible offer to refuse, then we trade him.

Keep Savard as the Dad on the team.
LD is loaded and Matheson is blocking Ghule at #1 LD pairing.
Savard is a good veteran DFD, could slot in nicely on the right side with Hutson.
Matheson is an offense first D and I’m not high on his defensive game.
Ghule, Hutson, Mailloux, Barron can all chip in offensively

Im not desperate to trade him. Id probably keep him and let him rack up another 30-40 points by TDL then trade him for more then now. But he is worth just as much now coming off his 60P campaign.
They should! He's never going to have a better season than his 2023-24 season. He will regress, let's trade him while we can.

He's not part of the future so yeah trade him while his value is high. They should have traded Anderson when his value was high 2 years ago, now you couldn't get a bag of pucks for him.
I like Magic Mike. He plays heads up hockey. So much so that he doesn’t realize the pucks not on his stick and fans on it lol. He needs to clean it up in a few areas but he’s got serious skill.
Unless a team offers you a king's ransom, Habs should keep Matheson this year, and trade him next summer or at the 2025-26 deadline, for many reasons…
a) If you trade Matheson now, you're pretty much handcuffing yourself to Savard until his contract expires. There's no-way you can trade both this year, and Savard (last year of his contract) could get you a nice return at this year's deadline.
b) Keeping Matheson for a year gives you time to evaluate Guhle and Xhekaj's health and allows all your younger LHDs to develop in the correct chair, starting with Lane Hutson.
c) Hutson probably won't get PP1 from Day-1, so Matheson's production has a very good chance to be similar as last season. You probably won't lose much trade value keeping him for a full year.
He gets traded later this season for value, someone is going to want him on their second pairing to make a run
It’s amazing, Guhle can move the puck, but he’s not being given a chance. Guhle has the potential to bring something strong in return too in the next few years. There are too many D in the system
