  1. I'm ok with the rebuild taking time, Once we get to the playoff phase I don't want it to be a one and done scenario, or never get past the 1st or 2nd rounds. Build for a long haul. I do think if Justin Holl is not going to play, or play very little, trade him for less cap hit so you have more money come the trade deadline if you need it.

  2. No worries yzerman. I heard rumors Berggren edvisson and Johansson are planned to start the season on the wings. Looking at the roster that means at least one more big move is coming. If he signs a 2nd line rh def I think this offseason was a success. Regardless of the haters.

  3. It has been a little frustrating. But we’re not in his position. But you have to realize that Detroit has had a lot of crappy sports teams for a long time. The one consistently great team we had was the Red Wings through the 90s and into the 2000s. And now it’s been 8 years since we’ve seen our team in playoff hockey which we use to live for. We’re getting impatient.

  4. Lego trying to say they almost made the playoffs let’s be honest even if they had they wouldn’t of gotten past the first round given the level of talent on other teams it’s just copium almost is always the cope

  5. People who doubt Steve have literally zero context for what this franchise has endured. They have no idea Ken Holland left this team in utter shambles, with a ton of bad contracts and no one in the farm system. They dont realize Detroit hasnt had a lottery pick this entire duration of the rebuild. How does San Jose's rebuild look without Macklin Celebrini? How does Chicago's without Bedard? How does Anaheim without Leo Carlson, Becket Sennecke and Mason Mctavish? It would be rought, and instead of tanking ad nauseum and never getting rewarded for it he pulled the trigger to try and make this team more of a stable force for when the kids he did draft get there, that they wouldnt be budrdened with single-handidly carrying them. This is a borderling playoff team and the play of the kids will determine if they make the cup playoffs. Given what we saw in GR last year I have high hopes.

  6. I think "going viral" is being used rather liberally. Those tweets really aren't going all that viral at all. As for our core? Eh… could it be better? Of course it could. Not a whole lot you can do if you don't get a few first or second overall picks to build around. Our highest pick in this rebuild was Lucas Raymond, selected fourth overall. The best we can really do is try to pick up players in free agency and trades, and roll the dice.

Fact is, Stevie is doing the best he can with the hand he was dealt. Patience.

  7. Just saying, Yzerman built a multiple cup winning team with Tampa, and while some of these signings are not good, we just have to stick with it. Remember he drafted the best prospect pool in the league. Trust the Yzerplan. Go wings.

  8. i don’t think the team got better but so many bad contracts were handed out in the league im glad he didn’t do that

  9. Yzerman inherited a dumpster fire and the Wings got screwed over in draft position year after year and considering that, Stevie has done a great job of rebuilding from the ashes!

  10. More pressure will be on the coach than anyone else this season. Yzerman has added and subtracted NHL players quite aggressively each year. Obviously Debrincat and Kane have been the only really elite players he has brought in from elsewhere. But the majoriy of players brought in have been capable 2nd tier type players. Now that the goaltending has been made stronger (on paper at least), the pressure is on the coach to teach a defensive hockey system. Yzerman stated that at the end of the year about wanting to see defensive hockey team-wide. It's frustrating watching Larkin age and try his hardest year after year and not get much support. I'm sure Yzerman feels the same. I like to think that if this team plays run and gun non-defensive hockey Lalonde will not be extended. I don't think Yzerman will be lenient anymore. This is indeed a business and Yzerman does treat the players like disposable employees. He is definitely not as soft as Holland. When he took over the team I was expecting 5 years to significantly improve the team. Now I'm thinking 7 or 8 years. If it goes beyond that then there's a problem.

  11. He hit the gas pedal on splurge signing UFAs before certain great draft classes getting a little better where they needed to be selecting in draft order in the top 5. Instead spent big and they got better when really they needed to add young elite scorers.
I suspect the rebuild will start all over in 5 years with middle of the league winning percentage dwindles the talent level they have. Finding Day 2 draft gems can rectify a bunch of faults, but as of now it is has not happened.

  12. Wings have increased their point total three years in a row. That is good. Need to keep pressing and getting better. It will happen. We can be in the playoffs for a long haul if we keep bettering ourselves. 🏒

  13. Looong time Wings fan here. I like a lot of his moves, and I've been questionable on others. But Yzerman will know these guys far better than I, along with all the financials. Also, this team had absolutely nothing going for it when Yzerman arrived. We had like no draft picks at all and next to no NHL caliber prospects. Then we got screwed in the NHL draft lottery and fell places every year for like 4 years straight. Plus we had a couple that like everyone thought was gonna be great just fall apart, like Zadina. But the culture of Detroit has started to shift back to a winning one. For the first several years no one wanted to come to Detroit, now we are starting to see stars pick Detroit over everyone else. These guys recognize that the team and culture is shifting to a winning one and lets face it, they all want to be on a winning team. Debrincat wanted to be here and saw a team on the upswing. Kane was looking mostly to proving he can still play and once he did, he chose to stay here as he wants to win and he sees something with us. Now we just got Tarasenko and while I don't know his story yet, it's probably not far off from the others. It may not be going as fast as many would like, but it's moving along.

  14. People are impatient. 20+ years of playoffs followed by 8 years without and some absolutely horrendous hockey, who could blame them. With that said, this is a franchise who has improved every season under yzerman without a single top 3 pick and without trading a single high end prospect. Unreal. Yzerman has said from the start that this would take a long time, but he was going to build the team the right way in order to achieve long term success

  15. The Yzerplan is fine. Do I think SY has made mistakes – MANY! The prospects coming up are skilled – but I don’t see any big scorers or big checkers coming up. I think Stevie should have been targeting HUGE scorers in the last two drafts. I think he is giving away to much to get cap space without shopping the players around more. I truly believe he has to trade for a big forward who can score. They need to get progress of ALL of the goalies they have drafted and traded for. Then DRW must get the kids into NHL action. Only then will I say the Yzerplan has worked!

  16. As long as Petry is the Wings 2nd line defenseman it’s hard to have much faith in their d core. Hopefully Ed and Johansson step up big this year.

  17. I'm not losing any faith at all. He's not going to go all out until they are close. He's building a core. A young core, the right way.

  18. Detroit is still 3-4 years out as in Montreal. Difference is Detroit started the rebuild way, way before Montreal. I don't get either team at all. Detroit helped Tampa run for a cup year after year and that's about all Detroit has done.

  19. Red Wings fan since 93 when I was 10 and Yzerman was our Captain and as GM he will have this team winning Cups again very soon

  20. Seider should be locked up for 7-8 year deal somewhere around 6.5-7 mil aav. Razor should be somewhere around 5 years at 5-6 mil. Lock them up and give bridge deals to the other guys.

  21. I still trust the Yzerplan. However, I do think it’s fair to criticize some of the bad moves he has made. I would also add that every fan base probably isn’t happy with every move their GM’s have made as well.

  22. If the wings are worse this year the yzerman stick riders will still defend him until death. The core is mediocre. And yzerman is in cap tightness. Sound familiar? Ken holland.

  23. Everyone said the Wings would finish 7th in the Atlantic last season going into camp. They said the Senators and Sabers rebuild were light years ahead of Detroit’s. Yeah…not listening to these idiots.

  24. Detroit has increased their season standings points every year for the last several under Yzermam. This year I expect that to continue. I am expecting at least 1 more add via trade or free agent signing for a defenseman. Then leave room for the youth to move up from Grand Rapids. This youth movement is such an unknown factor in predicting the upcoming season. However the Red Wings were recently rated as having the #1 prospect pool in the NHL. If there's a team that one can expect positive outcomes from its youth it would be the Red Wings.

  25. I have my own take.Yes Stevie Y knows something’s he has learned with Scotty Bauman, Jim Devellano, Ken Holland and his long and
Successful career. Talent and interest in management. He has a really great crew running the club scouting Steve is the one to
get the wings a good chance for several cups
