  1. McLeod is all speed. Needs to keep developing and he wouldn't get those minutes in Edmonton. Good for both teams for what each needs.

  2. People making out Savoie to be some Michkov type prospect lmao. He’ll be a good player but he’s still at least a year away from the NHL and the Sabres got a player for their roster now.

  3. His brother plays for the oilers in the ahl so maybe spending some time in the minors won’t be as devastating if he doesn’t make the oilers right away

  4. I think it's a win-win. The Oilers get someone to keep them skilled into the future and the Sabers give themselves a center who can play right now because the fans really only want a playoff berth at this point

  5. I swear if the owners and management don’t give Jeff a big pay raise to permanently keep him the GM they’re throwing HARD.

  6. Too small. Need big strength. Savoie is Edmonton native (St.Albert), good. However little small. Se how it goes. He might make the lineup. Moose Jaw had whl championship this year.

  7. Any Oilers fans hoping the team could trade McLeod for a defenseman who would be an upgrade was fooling themselves. This is a great trade for the Oilers.

  8. Before everyone loses their mind in Buffalo over this, MacLeod is a good third line center and an excellent penalty killer. He will definitely improve your pk and won't do stupid things 5 on 5 that will cause goals against often. His speed also keeps other teams on their heels. Like McDavid fast. He was buried in a deep oiler lineup and is only 24. Just wait and see before you get too upset.

  9. Buffalo season ticket holder here. All the Sabres social media is saying this is a bad trade. I'm not convinced it might be good for both teams. Buffalo has one of if not the best prospect pools in the NHL and all those prospects can not play for the Sabres not to mention he wasn't our best prospect. The other thing is Mcleod is one of the fastest skaters in the league and fits with Ruffs philosophy of being a fast team. He also was ( I believe) the best faceoff man for Edmonton 50.1 percent and that's something we lack. Oiler fans will love Savoie he is a likeable guy and he is very good playmaker.

  10. THG nailed it. Buffalo, is speeding up. McLeod is going to have twice the opportunity in Buffalo that he did in Edmonton. It's too early to call winners and losers on this trade.

Savoie is a prospect, and nothing more right now. Size matters, and it's yet to be seen whether he can transition to the NHL. Not all guys his size can. In fact, most can't.

McLeod isn't going to be a franchise player in Buffalo or anything, but I think Buffalo fans will realize why he was so well liked in Edmonton, in short order.

He's a heart player, who is a bit streaky, but he flies up and down the ice, something Buffalo has been sorely missing.

  11. If Jeff Jackson moves ceci to someone who is an upgrade…. Extends Drai…. Fucking legend. Please stay Gm.

  12. From Buff, and didn't understand it at first but now it makes sense. i believe he's still a few years i think from being NHL ready and we are the youngest team in the league and don't need to get younger. Plus they are in a enter playoffs now mode and we don't need to keep our prospects yet. we still have kulich in the minors waiting for his shot.

i was saying before the draft that they should try and use most of their picks as trade bait so they can get vet players with no trade clauses cause the sabres really don't need the picks at all.

  13. Sabres fans have been complaining about lack of size and grit on the Sabres for years. Oilers fans would know better, but McLeod should help the Sabres with that. He's also still entering his prime years. Savoie is a small prospect, among a lot of recent small Sabres picks. Was he going to break onto the big team this year? Hard to say. If not, then might as well trade him.

  14. Oilers fan here. The ones we didn’t sign, replaceable and are replaced. We needed to be cap compliant and now we’re not far off. This trade is crazy. I’m also a hockey fan, usually keep tabs on other teams but my oiler squad is deep. Maybe the deepest in YEARS.

  15. I find it amusing that people think Buffalo got the short end of the stick with this trade. Savoie is 5'9" and hasn't proven himself in the NHL yet. You don't give away high-end draft picks unless there's something about the player that concerns you. If this was a salary cap move, then it makes sense, but McLeod is 6'3" and a proven NHL player. I understand why Buffalo made this trade.

  16. I thought this was a joke at first wtf Buffalo? I know you guys don’t know how to win but normally you keep your most talented players and develop them into great players then they get you wins which gets you out of the bottom of the league.

  17. Savoie is 2 years out from being drafted 9th overall. Here in Buffalo we’re all kinda scratching our heads on why he isn’t in the lineup but Benson was his rookie year. Savoie may not be the player we all saw at 9th overall

  18. Adam’s is an awesome gm…. For Edmonton. How about Dahlin for Nurse?! While you’re destroying the Sabres you might as well go all the way!

  19. Mcdavid must be so fuckin relieved after that scf loss with all these moves. Like its incredible how much they’ve improved in 2 weeks

  20. McLeod has potential but parts of his game makes him a super frustrating player to watch sometimes. Crazy how Edmonton was able to get a 9th overall prospect in return for someone they had to trade to cap dump anyways

  21. Sabres have so many prospects. Noah Östlund, Jiri Kulich, Isak Rosén, Konsta Helenius. No way all those guys + Savoie crack the roster. Cant get first overall pedigree player to help them now with all those picks. Not a bad trade.

  22. It seems that theyre giving up D for more offense though which to me at least seems like a bit of a mistep. Dont get me wrong overall this is a win for oilers but it seems they havent really fixed their main problem
