Wednesday and there is a lot that’s happened this team looks completely different and let’s get into it so first of all um we were live last Wednesday we’re GNA kind of go as much as we can in chronological order from what happened uh we’re g to kick things off with the NHL draft the NHL draft happened last weekend and the Bruins made four Selections in the draft first of all their first round pick going with Dean Loro with a 25th overall pick he’s 6’7 he’s a center he had 127 points last year for St Andrews College uh what is everybody everybody’s thoughts on Dean Loro joining us in the Bruins organization good pick nice to be back in the first round uh for the Boston Bruins um work in progress pick uh this is not exactly a home run um but I like that the kids got upside potential whatever you want to call it um and he’s a big kid and he’s a and he plays the center positions which we can never get enough of um and yeah I thought it was a good deal and I actually thought that that Cole vien was gonna be uh Boston’s like Target but uh when the uh um Utah whatever the name is took took yeah took him um latero was the next best one that I I could see so I I thought it was a good a good selection yeah and sort of a piggyback off that too you know I’ve been in sports for a long time and the one quote that’s always stuck with me being the undersized guy is you can’t teach size right six foot7 is a behemoth of a human being and you can’t you can’t teach that and I think when you look at it from the outside perspective it’s really important for the Bruins to get that size you’ve seen what they’ve done in free agency which of course we’ll get to in a couple minutes here but one thing you can’t teach his size and the Bruins got plenty of that at the draft they got plenty of that in free agency and now it’s about teaching lero to play that the way that his physical style and his physical frame once he fills out I think it’s only a matter of time before we get a guy like Tage Thompson Thompson on the Bruins in the NHL I’m going to throw caution to the wind here for everybody because there are scouts that say he could be one and done and turn pro and um coming out of prep school and let’s say on say an Ontario Prep School um or even a Canadian Prep School um it’s very unheard of that they go one and done in college let’s not forget he was supposed to go to the USHL next season okay now the other thing too is we’ll never know who was on the Bruins list but NHL teams prepare like this for a draft they they they don’t have 220 players on their board they might have Five Guys in and around where they’re picking that they’re looking for we don’t know if colel was first or whether he was fifth on that list what we do know is that 18 to 30 range could have gone multiple different ways okay so um like I said this isn’t shadic St Mary’s or you know uh but they’re working their way towards being that kind of to prep school and and they’ve had a bunch of players move on to the NHL so um the history is there I just want to take it slow with him I I mean I I’m seeing people call him the Bruins top prospect right now I’m sorry he’s not he’s not the Bruins top prospect I mean he hasn’t played a game of Junior Hockey or a game of college hockey and we’re calling him our best Prospect I don’t know I’m not saying he won’t be one day but he’s not that right now yeah I mean he’s committed to play uh for Boston College uh for next next season right next season he’s playing with Boston College correct yeah the ESPN graphic was wrong it said he was committed in 2526 to BC no he’s committed next year for Boston College hockey so we’ll get a good glimpse of him uh in the hockey East and the Bruins will probably be sending scouts over because a short drive over to BC from the garden where they play um so I’m sure there’ll be Bruins uh scouts at every game watching him and giving updates back to uh well I think right now it falls under Adam McQuade and Jamie Lang and Bruner territory I think the the Scouts have done their job yeah and and to be honest with you I really wish he did go to the USHL path if if they if it was possible yeah so well uh people I I personally really like this pick I think it’s going to work out in the long run I think I agree with you Dom I hope they take it slow I hope they don’t rush this pick but or Rush this Rush him by any means but maybe in the next few years I could see him you know in in the top AHL minutes or in maybe possibly some NHL minutes in like three or four years from now yeah yeah and the the other thing I might add there too right is You Gotta Have You Gotta give him time to build out he’s still lanky he still has room to fill out you know you give him a couple years he might put on a couple more pounds and then you have a guy that can even use his body weight to throw it around a little bit more you don’t want to rush that kind of thing you don’t want to say okay we’re GNA move right into it give him his years in college let him build himself up and then see what he can bring uh post uh post his college career absolutely absolutely well uh they didn’t do anything in the second and the third round but in the fourth round with the 110th pick the Bruins went with a with Elliot gronwald uh what are your thoughts on Elliot gronwald they used this pick in the Jacob Loco trade which we’ll discuss in a little bit but what are your thoughts on Elliot gronwald being selected by the Bruins in the fourth round uh personally I don’t mind the pick I actually like it but but what we know is that the the Bruins identified a player they made the deal to get their guy and you know over the last couple of Seasons I’ve learned to trust this scouting staff I really have um Don Sweeny has done a great job of building uh a fabulous scouting department and uh um all we can do is trust in them but that that’s the player they identified they were worried they weren’t going to get him and they made the move to to move up and get him yeah and and for a lot of people that that when I mentioned this pick um there’s a lot of folks that said why would you do this for a fourth rounder and so on how can you identify players this is how good this scouting staff is is they they see the upside in later round picks it’s not the all end all be all because we lost a player like Jacob loo um uh to me wasn’t a consistent player all the time so and he possibly could have a better future in Minnesota with more consistent NHL minutes um and the Bruins identified something a possible you know hole in there and their prospects when it com um when it comes to defensive the defensive side of the game and obviously the Vermont native uh ellot is going to you know be a a you know work in progress and and be around for you know a couple years is down the road but I like the way that the Bruins attacked this and and you know like like Dom said they saw somebody they wanted and they they executed on a deal to make it happen and I’m not I don’t hate it for sure and I think one other thing you got to remember is this guy once again we’re going to talk about it a lot today is just the new identity of this Bruns team and they’ve seemed to in their draft picks and their free agents to be going down a different route than they’ve tried the last couple years where you know they tried go with the more skilled route it hasn’t worked out all that well especially when it comes playoff time so you get a little bit tougher you get a little bit bigger and this is where he fills in you know he’s six foot two room to fill out 200 pounds right now room to grow of course what’s he going to be in a couple years he already plays sort of that physical style that you’re looking for could be an interesting pickup here absolutely uh moving on to our next pick um they go with Jonathan MLL in the fifth round uh of the draft people were I read a lot of reviews on this guy they were very mixed so what are your thoughts on Jonathan MLL I love I want to start this one here I’m gon give it over to mark because I know Mark’s been looking to talk about this guy forever Mark all yours buddy um yeah I wrote an article last week about some some uh Bruins picks that could be around when the Bruins do actually select from the sphere in Las Vegas and uh in the fourth round I actually had uh Jonathan Mel there instead of the fifth round where he was actually selected um it the kid’s got good size he’s got good mobility and and he you know he plays a good two-way game which is still a work in progress um he’s going to to beak the Fighting Saints of the USHL next season and um he’s committed to Clarkson for 2526 there was just something in this player that I saw from St Michaels up in in Ontario that that really stood out to me and and and I thought that a piece that the Bruins could identify with and work on and and fortunately he was selected so it kind that was the one guy that I mentioned that did get picked so out of the 12 players I mentioned one is getting one right ain’t so bad but um no I met him at development camp and and you know he’s a he’s a real hard worker um you know he still needs to fill out and so on but I think that and and we had a press conference with Adam McQuade at development camp this week um and you know Jonathan Morel mentioned that McQuade was like a mentor to him um on how to position himself and and get uh getting crashing to the net or getting to the net and and you know creating um space around the crease and so on without getting knocked over and blah blah blah because is a you know a little smaller at this at this stage of his development so um you know I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do with uh Deek um you know they went to the uh clar Cup finals last year so it’s still a pretty decent team even though there’s probably going to be a lot of turnover this offseason but I’m excited to watch him in the USHL and and then Clarkson after I’m surprised he was there I really really thought he could have been a late third uh early fourth round pick um but again I have to go to the breu and scouting staff Bob wck who um Scouts Ontario for for the Bruins uh you know Matthew ptra Jackson Edward uh Dean lero um and now Jonathan Melo um all Bob letic uh watch guys he’s watched them a lot he’s watched all season long uh Melo I think he can fly I think he’s faster than people give him credit for he produces uh points at a pace that probably would suggest you know a second round pick but um you know it is the ojhl uh and you know usually that’s a stepping stone right to college we seen former draft picks Bruins picks like Dustin McFall come from there who also went to Clarkson I believe yeah he went to Clarkson um you know they don’t always pan out but this kid has talent has a lot of talent absolutely Parker do you want to discuss yeah I know I think they’ve nailed it on the head right I know I’ve been reading a lot of of Mark’s articles on this exact guy and I mean there’s not too much more to add you know he’s he’s got room to fill out he’s 6 fo three what’s to come for him he’s got he’s sort of one of those five2 players just a matter of of finding his Groove and and really performing at the big stage and we were talking earlier about the Bruins uh changing their identity right Parker you were mentioning they were trying to go for a speedy Guy this is the only guy they picked that’s under 200 lbs this guy’s 178 but that makes him more durable to fly on the ice like that right so his speed as you’d mentioned Dom is a good thing as he is creating in front of the net he’s creating points at a rate that like you said would be a second round pick so overall at the fifth round it’s a steal I think right yeah if he P if he pans out like I mean well as of now we don’t know anything as of now as as of now yeah you know um like I said I was surprised he was there like I read Mark’s articles and I thought no way and I that’s when Mark had him pegged as a fourth router I thought no way he’s not going to be there I mean I saw him live maybe four or five times this season maybe three or four I don’t think I quite made it five um you know but I was impressed yeah uh last pick of the draft they go with another defenseman here and they go to to Sweden and they go select Lok Johanson with the 186th pick in the draft now this guy coming out he’s 63 he’s 214 he’s a left-handed defenseman uh he’s the only non-north American player the Bruins selected in this year’s draft and I’ve heard some good things about this guy what are you guys’s thoughts on Lok Johansson I’ve heard good things now he was selected in the CHL import draft and he did sign with monton so he’ll be playing in the Quebec League next season did not um and this isn’t a PJ Axel is PJ axelon pick uh as we heard in the press conference uh Sven what’s his name the swed 30-year uh history with the Bruins D in Sweden as a scout he he’s in his hometown so ven watched him a lot um knows the player and you know we’ve got to trust him him sorry I lagged again I don’t know what’s going on um yeah they have some trust in this guy yeah uh and Mon’s a pretty decent place for him to go um I remember there was uh another Bruins prospect that we it was Anderson I believe that played in the queue um that came over from believe Finland was it Finland Dom no he was from Sweden as well okay yeah all right so there’s some good ties um with monton in the queue so I think he’ll get some good development there you know and then I possibly move on to the AHL for at least a year and so on that’d be nice but yeah decent a decent player good size um and that’s what the draft did look like it looked like uh the Bruins were not messing around with uh anybody that’s under six feet tall and you know they definitely address the size and and and upside in each one of these picks so I thought it was a good draft regardless of the people in the chat that said it was a terrible draft I thought it was good for what they had you know um so we’ll see what happens and just to add uh something to what Mark said the the the working relationship between uh Boston and monton so the the Bruins found a work around to the NHL shl transfer or the Swedish transfer agreement because um only first round picks can come over and play in the American Hockey League before the age of 24 now interesting okay so by him skipping that and coming over to play in the Canadian hockey league um bypass passes that because he’s now a North American so I I think the Bruins are circumventing the agreement and it wouldn’t put it past me that they said to monton um we need a place for him to play he’s going to come over select him in the draft absolutely and and and is this the only CH player that CHL player that the Bruins prospects have now up there yeah because um um Jackson Edward is not gonna be in Providence next year correct yeah well he could go back for an overage year but he’s not going back right right I don’t think Adam mcade would have anything to do with that no so the consensus is a pretty solid draft of what they had right I I think with where they were picking yeah you I have no complaints with this with this draft I was actually when when they selected Melo I was more than fine with it because I really really believe he should have gone at least at least two rounds higher yeah well before we move on to the next uh subject here I want to thank all the viewers on YouTube because we just hit one 1,000 subscribers on YouTube this week so thank you very much to everybody who has subscribed and liked and commented turn on the post notification Bell so shout out to all of our YouTube viewers you guys are awesome so thank you very much for 1,000 yeah and and I want to add on to that thank this guy right here he’s The Mastermind behind all of this production so Parker thank you so much for coming aboard the team but also the hard work that you’ve been cranking out lately it’s it’s it’s very appreciative brother and I and I cannot cannot thank you enough thanks for having me Mark it’s always a pleasure absolutely well uh second subject of discussion if I could say it properly uh let’s talk about some free agency Acquisitions the Bruins had and they had a lot of them uh on Monday uh of course the first big one that they had was Elias lolm seven-year deal 7.75 a season for Elias lolm uh they needed a number one Center and they got it they got it in Elias lolm who is going to be in that number one center rle with presumably zaka and David poock as his wings so what are our thoughts about Elias lolm being signed by the Bruins right at 12 o’clock as free agency struck I think and you can put the zadorov uh signing in with this is they had a goal uh to to get a centerman and get a defenseman and um you know let’s put stepen Stam Co on the wing and say that the Bruins went out and got the best available centerman and one of the best available defend all in one swoop so um I know there are people knocking the term knocking the dollars you you were going to have to pay to get it you know um there there’s no way around it you were going to have to pay um I will say this well no I’ll let the other two guys talk about ly home when we get to the Zadora up then I’ll add something uh I thought it was a good signing uh and and talking or not talking but listening to uh don Sweeney in his press conference um mentioning that this was a two-year process so the the brost and Bruins were invested in trying to get this guy for at least two years so the rumors we’ve all heard have been true for the past two years that the Bruins were looking at this guy um and the zadorov I thought it was an okay deal I wasn’t too thrilled about the the term that he got but it identifies a certain nastiness on the back end that this Boston Bruins team seems to be lacking just a little bit uh is is this the the defensive move that’s going to catapult or you know a Stanley Cup remains to be seen but he does play that type of hockey that Boston Bruins fans are claming for every year in the postseason about getting nastier and and bigger and so on well they identified it right here with this signing so um I I like it I I like it a lot and um you know he’s gonna be older it’s probably not gonna the contract is probably not gonna look great later on but still you know you still needed that number one Center um because it’s not coming internally we don’t have that guy right now so this was the next best move that this team needed to make happen yeah and I agree with that too and you think about a guy like lindol right he might not be your flashy star player but what he does do is make his teammates around him better especially when he’s playing with good players so think about who’s going to be on his line next year you got two guys right you got Pastak and zacha both players who play very similarly to Lind Holm but Pak is gonna be able to score zaka is gonna be able to pass the puck and get that puck over to Pac to score and Lind Holm is going to be the finisher of the three as well right that’s going to be the trick this year is to see see how well Lind Holm can play alongside those two but I think in general the trick to lindol is going to be the chemistry within the line is one thing but at the same time is he G to be able to find his Groove because we’ve seen it when he plays with good players his level of play elevates and we’ll see if that happens with the brooms this year I’ll I’ll say this about the signing like a lot of people are complaining because they didn’t replace Jake de bruss offense well they did they more than replaced it with Elias Lindholm okay lyol is going to put up more points than Jake debrusk put up last year not only did they improve the center position they improved the left wing position because now you can move pavl zaka to left wing so you’ve automatically imp improved that position as well you’ve automatically improved the faceoffs you now got a great guy in the bumper on the power play which should improve the power play and I I mean it just slots everybody so perfectly um to to where they belong with with zadorov I will say this without naming a name the Bruins had an agreement with one of their own free agents there was a contract on the table on July 1st in the morning when they knew for certainty that they were getting Nikita zedor off they pulled the contract that’s how much they thought of zadorov and they needed to you you look Matt grizzli is out Derek forbert is out Nikita zador off is in uh Parker Wilders spoon now becomes your number seven defenseman you tell me that defense is not better than it was last year that defense is going to be people are saying this and I completely agree the Bruins defense is scary next year because you have zadorov presumably playing with makoy or Carlo one of the two I don’t think zadorov is playing third defensive pairing minutes of peak I just don’t see that um I I see him in the top four you have uh on the left side you have zadorov lorai and ly Holm that three in itself will be fine and then your right side right you have makoy who’s gonna have a bounce back here after a struggling last year you have Andrew Peak and Brandon Carlo and all of that’s going to work and if all fails you have Parker W spoon slotting in if somebody needs to have a night off or somebody gets injured you have wat spoon there who can play both sides and does it well um back to Elias l home uh again they needed a center right they were lacking I don’t think zaka at the dot was good enough to be a top Center in the for the Bruins which is why they went out and got a center um Elias lolm I think is going to work well with Pasto I think those two are going to create Magic over the next few years and it’s going to be a great thing um for both parties and I think zaka will get involved in that as well so I think overall this is going to this is these are two really good signings um next signing here this is the final like NHL level signing the Bruins made and this is still a really good signing in my opinion and I didn’t see it coming Max Jones two-year deal one million a season this is a good signing for depth purposes and it’s also a good signing for your for your fourth line I think right Max Jones coming in from Anaheim was doing well in Anaheim will come in and will only improve the brittain’s bottom six yep absolutely um another player that um brings it plays on the edge um you know he’s got NHL games and so on I I think it was a solid depth um I don’t think this is a the type of player that’s probably gonna end up in Providence after going through waivers but um I mean we’ll see what happens but I like the way that this guy plays uh because he does he does bring that element that I believe the Bruins have been missing and and another one another player that the Bruins really looked at uh to identify that hole and I think they did a good job with this one I watched him a lot with the London Knights and Parker could probably uh agree with this when he was playing Junior and I watched him play I’d say to myself what an you know what an ass but I’m glad he’s on my team um I think he has third line capabilities in him um you know whether the Bruins can get it out of him or not we’ll see but I I I think he can provide some offense and I I’ll tell you what you know with him and Castell and and zadorov nobody’s Taking Liberties with the Boston Bruins anymore nobody nope they got bigger and better real quick yeah like we’ll get to Jacob Loco next like you know you you asked me a hundred times who would I prefer on my team Max Jones or Jacob loo I’m picking Max Jones a 100 times every time makes two every SLE time yeah and and the other thing I think a lot of people forget too is this guy was a is a former first round pick right yes yes and and he’s shown at times admittedly not recently but at times the ability to play to the level of what that first round pick once was but I think this is still a guy who’s going to be playing third and fourth line minutes for you but he’s going to be a solid defensive role player first the offense will come you know you’ll put him alongside in my opinion Frederick and ptra those two guys between and Max Jones that’s going to be sort of have ptra playing a little bit of a smaller more skillful skillful role alongside guys like Jones and Frederick will be playing a little bit more physical that could be a line that really works I think at the end of the day they’ll come down to chemistry to see who kind of finds it finds it best but that third and fourth line is gonna be dangerous this year physically and skillfully yeah wasn’t Jones and one of the other signings backtack picks in the same same draft Yeah I just don’t remember the name we’ll get to it uh was it right was it toughed toughed yeah yes yeah we’ll talk about him in a minute actually yeah before we get to that I want to point out something so people have been asking about this so people have been saying oh well they’re gonna call up LEL and put him in the top six right away right very delusionally I I was saying this if they don’t have a second line right wing by opening night here’s what you do my opinion you slide Morgan geeky up to the second line right wing you sticking with Coyle and Marshon they proved last year whenever they played together that the three of them work you I like your idea of ptra with Jones and Frederick I think that’s a good Trio Frederick can play the right side well Jones plays the left side Patrick can protect in the middle and then the fourth line you can go cellic beater brazzo what are your thoughts on that there’s there’s so many possibilities there but I I can tell you Fabian lysel is going to give be given every opportunity to earn a spot yeah no absolutely I’m not saying he won’t make the roster he just won’t make second line minutes right out of right out of preseason I don’t think so I well that’s that’s where he needs to be he can’t be on the fourth line and so on he’s got to be put in the best position possible with and surrounded by players that are going to make him better offensively if if they don’t do that just leave them in Providence for another year what was Matt padra given as a 19-year-old last season third line minutes no he moved down later he was on the thir second line to start I to to be honest I think we’re at the point now right where in many ways it’s starting to become Do or Die time for guys like lysel and merkulov yeah you’re starting to get to the end of the line in terms of contracts are they going to return if they haven’t even really been given a shot in the NHL level sure they’ve been given shots but the truth is right it’s the third and fourth line where they don’t play the way that they’ve been playing you got to give them a shot at some point that’s what Sweden was talking about in that in that interview that I’m sure I think a lot of people have seen to this point was we’re going to give our guys a shot to make it and sort of to our point about our talk earlier regarding that third and fourth line now you’re throwing a guy like Kiki as well right where is he going to slot into that lineup if you you take him off that second line rightwing or first line right wing depending on if you’re putting coil out there first or Lindholm right that becomes the question and I think if you put a guy like merkulov or l or lysel those are the two guys in my opinion that are fighting for that second line role just the way that they play actually I think I I’ll disagree with you on one part Parker and that’s mof will be battling Matt ptra for third line Center yeah that’s that that’s fair too because he’s barely ever played the wing uh lysel is a natural Winger so I think that’s where the battle is lysel will battle for that two rightwing marula will battle potra for three third line Center sure I think the other part there right is just then it becomes the question Dom of if you’re going to be fighting for that spot and you lose right say gets really hot in Camp then all of a sudden where does merkulov go and that’s where I think there’s the potential for him to get at least some opportunity I’m not saying it’s set in stone of who it is but I I don’t my personal opinion I don’t believe that lysel has the job out of Camp I don’t think geeky has the job out of Camp I think merkulov could be a guy that gets a couple opportunities on that second line spot I then it becomes if he fits the role or not and to your point he’s not a natural right winger so does that come into play as well might be a question to be answered in Camp yeah but we said the same thing about Jake de Brusque when he moved to the right side a couple years ago when he was slotted with Marshon and berson look at how well that worked out for him and his career rejuvenated his career I think he was put with he was put with marshand for the past three years who has only helped his game grow and for two of those three years he had berson to guide him as well it only helped him out yeah but Sam the difference says you’re talking a left Winger moving to right-wing right in Jake de Brusque as opposed to a natural Center who’s never played Wing before moving to Wing at the NHL level big difference no I know to to hop in there I think the other question then becomes you got to give him the opportunity whether he plays well or not that becomes the problem Dom to your point of he’s never played there but but at the end of the day the trick becomes at some point you got to give them an option somewhere in the lineup whether that’s on the third line Center roll where you’re looking at a guy like potra to really take the next step this year or on the second line right winger where it’s already up for grabs and really could be anyone in that lineup I think that’s where the question becomes out of Camp to see if they give them the the the opportunity to try and clean that role and and and just just to jump in a little bit here too um concerning um lysell and merkulov I mean this is a big year we’ve been talking about it for the last couple minutes about them but there’s another thing that needs to be considered too is the more this goes on and on the more their value drops for sure absolutely yeah interesting well uh we get to our next topic of discussion and that’s some of the AHL signings they had and they had a bunch of them rally tufted Cole Kea Jordan osterle Billy Sweezy Jeff VL osterly is probably the only one who probably has the most NHL experience out of the bunch I would possibly put him over Ian Mitchell in the defensive depth chart because of the experience Factor alone although his Mitchell has a little bit more skill than osterly but what are your guys’ thoughts on these signings quickly before somebody else goes I do want to mention that these are NHL signings um Sam so these guys will will participate in Camp fight for a job and then if they don’t make it then they will you know be put on waivers to go to Providence um so just want to let you know because there’s a difference between an NHL contract and an AHL contract you see you won’t see 775k on an AHL contract yeah no absolutely not all I think oler L the reason he was signed is they don’t have much depth on the Blue Line in Providence they got some really really raw defenseman you know brune still raw uh Jackson Edwards still raw I think Callahan’s the most experienced if I’m or maybe Ian Mitchell but the thing with osterly he’s got what 350 NHL games under his belt uh he’s there for that depth that and that leadership and to teach uh those young guys in Providence I really believe that’s what they they signed him for yeah and I completely agree with you there and I’m gonna play a game here I’m going to take uh 12 words to describe these signings toughed big KY big osterly leadership and big Sweezy big the big right that’s what you’re looking at for these guys they’re big players who play physical games with exception of one or two but they still have the size and that’s what this Bruins free agency and draft have been all about right it’s been all about the physicality and that’s what they’ve brought to this this table and you know whether it’s in their NHL signings that are going to fight out of camp ORS the guys they’ve traded for everyone here is just big and that’s the new reputation of the Boston burns is that they’re going to be a tough team to play against and we’ve seen it this year especially with these bigger teams how they just find ways especially in the playoffs to move it ahead some of these guys might become big big factors for the Bruins as they head down the stretch especially with injuries and also if they make it through the waiver process and go to Providence what a big help for that team down there um you won’t be running prospects with these guys if they all make it through um Fabian lysel will not get run over and get another concussion I guarantee that um Daniel Flynn says something about uh does Providence look better than last season as of right now if all these guys can make it through the wave of process without getting claimed I believe they do I believe they identified uh areas at both levels the American Hockey League and the National Hockey League when it comes to bigger physical uh players to you know uh um wear down on other teams but also be that be veteran players that are also going to stick up for one another down in the a so I have a friend who uh who is a Jets fan um you guys may know him uh Nolan hockey podcast he’s a a big Winnipeg Jets fan and he texted me when it was announced that Bruin signed VL he goes hey just so you know you don’t ever have to worry about somebody not stepping up for somebody down in Providence this guy is going to step up big time and on top of that he what was it he there were Manitoba was playing the Calgary Wranglers and they he went at it with a guy and it was like a 30 second fight because somebody got hit from behind so we’re not gonna we’re not going to have to worry about a LEL or a merkulov or a brune or somebody like that to get absolutely smoked and not have any repercussions for it which is what the Bruin which is what providence and Boston needs so that’s a good thing um so there’s that um next topic of discussion some of the departures that we had in free agency some Bruins ending up in different spots um Matt grizzli oneyear deal with Pittsburg 2.75 Derek forbert going to Vancouver one year 1.5 Jesper Buist on his way to Florida one-year league minimum Jake de Brusque a 7ear deal in in Vancouver five and a half and a Danton Heinen in two years 2.25 million and a notably non on this graphic Pat maroon also ending up in Chicago a one-year $1.3 million deal so a bunch of Departures there uh what are our thoughts on these players ending up in all these spots let’s start with Matt grizzli what why Pittsburgh why do you think that might be a good fit for grizzli might be that’s the only offer he got yeah yeah that’s what I think too look first of all I gotta say about the last two on the list in De brus and Heinen they also got no trade Clauses right I I’m just going to combine all of them together because my thoughts are the same take these guys out put in who Boston brought in and it’s a much better Hockey Club all around top to bottom completely agree you know we we can discuss I mean I already touched on the brus the big argument is is who’s going to replace his production well the answer is uh Elias Lyle simple as that you’re you’re going to see more goals from David Pastak than we saw last year you’ll possibly see more from zaka Fredick should improve geeky should improve the whole blue line should be able to give you at least a dozen goals more than they gave you last season so I’m not worried about the offense not at all um for me yeah I just want to like address all of them together like grizzli it was just time to move on fulbert the same bulist uh did okay last year as a death player um de brusk Movin obviously addresses the the forever rumor that he W would like to get to western Canada be a little closer to home um kind of weird and I know this has been re regurgitated throughout the uh the news lately but it’s kind of weird that he him and CID he had such a kind of a a sour relationship but he’s going to play for Rick tett now so we see how that works out um uh and Danton Heinen also another one that gets to go home gets to play closer to where he’s from um and and you know he’s a versatile player along with Nebraska as well but uh Heinen’s a real good versatile player I think he can play anywhere up in that uh Vancouver conect lineup so good luck to him I I I would love I would have loved to keep him but with uh everything that was going on we were just the Bruins were basically just saving pennies at the this point uh just to try to maximize uh what they could do uh and stay at a decent number for another um signing that still needs to be done but we’ll talk about that later yeah I wanna I I want to say this before we give the floor to Parker about Jake de brus because I’ve listened to about a do dozen different podcast over the last few days about the Cassidy de Brusque stuff and how um de brus career was rejuvenated after Montgomery put uh de Brusque with uh with marshan and berser on it wasn’t Jim Montgomery that did that it was Bruce Cassidy that did that the season before so shame on you people who do those podcasts you know who you are some of you are professionals but let’s let’s keep the facts straight Parker well uh we’ll bring it back to the first point I think I talked about in this entire video and that’s all or this podcast rather now but we talked about it right size size size size Matt grizzli small bokvist plays a fairly small game quick Speedy great but you know small right he plays a smaller game de brasque very similarly plays a smaller game Heinen for the most part he gets physical at times but you know he’s one of those players that likes to speed around the outside and then forbert who just has had had had a little bit of trouble keeping up with the pace of play at times sure you know he’s still a great defender especially on that PK you know he gets into Lanes sticks big enough to get out there but you know for the Bruins they’re trying to change their identity this season and you can see it with all the moves they’ve made to this point you know another one we talked about was maroon would have been nice to keep him around maybe but then the question becomes where are you going to put them right you’re going to put them alongside guys who are slower as well on that fourth line might be a tough tough sell there but I do think that this although you might be losing a whole bunch of guys in my personal opinion I would take the trade for Lind hman zadov any day over forbert debras and Heinen and to just to add to that you look at the moves in Providence and Parker nailed it because it’s the exact same improvidence it’s it’s a it’s a uh organization wide change and that is the new Boston Bruins it’s the New Providence Bruins it’s the new team right and that’s the trick to this to this season especially yeah uh one more guy that’s on the graphic we’ll still talk about him uh even though he wasn’t here for a for a while he was here for a short bit Pat maroon signing a one-year deal in Chicago uh what are your thoughts on maroon signing with the Blackhawks and will this be a big loss no they got Castell they got Castell in there that could probably bring more than Pat maroon could at this point in maron’s career and he’s faster right exactly so maroon goes to Chicago uh other notable former Bruins signing with the Blackhawks Tyler brzi Craig Smith they already have Taylor Hall there uh somebody made the joke in my stream on Monday that they’re turning into the Bruins of the Midwest they got a lot of former Bruins out there and it’s it’s turning very interesting well they can they can have the ones that they’ve got yeah berui is the only one that I’m still a little an about but Smith maroon and Paul I mean well whatever anyway uh next next up uh during the draft Jacob lco was moved we were discussed it earlier in the show and we’ll kind of get into this now uh Jacob Lao moved on to the Minnesota Wild along with the 122nd pick in exchange for the 110th pick and they’re bringing back an old friend in Vinnie ler in this deal he was originally with the Bruins until last year right last year and then he went off to Minnesota um and he came back so what are our thoughts on this deal and did the Bruins get better with this deal or did they get about the same well obviously they got better with the with the defensive pick of uh elot Gro and rall um I probably hacked his name pretty bad gr I think gronwall yeah and you know getting Vinnie lary back um he was a leading scorer before he got injured for Providence before he left I thought he worked very well with the prospects down in the American Hockey League um and you know he’s a he’s a very good Pro uh players lean on him for advice and so on and he’s also a really good linemate um plays on the top line and what I liked about it is is the idea that if if mer ulof and uh lysel don’t make the NHL roster and they do go back to Providence then ler is right there to get right back into into um into gear with these two and and start Point production on the top line for uh Ryan Mel’s uh you know power offense I I just think that that was a very I don’t know calculated to per se but I thought it was very good move to address the lower level of the uh the organization particularly in the American AR League Dom yeah you know it’s like I said um we were talking about the draft um the Bruins identified a player that they wanted they moved up to get him this was the cost of doing it and uh bringing in Max Jones uh instead of Lao is just an improvement so you get the player you identified in the draft as Mark said is you you help the kids down in Providence by bringing ler back and you’ve improved by uh putting Max Jones in over Jacob loo uh so for me it’s a win-win win and I I think I’ll I’ll wrap it up here uh to beat the horse off The Rocker here whatever that expression is one word size Sam off to you exactly um yeah Loco I think to me is a uh a player that will get more beneficial n NHL minutes in Minnesota than he would in Boston I didn’t think over Jones or cellic That loco would have a roster spot to begin with so I think this is this is a good move to move Loco to Minnesota where he will get NHL minutes every night so it’s a good thing for both sides I think he’ll be more beneficial out there well coming up right after this quick break uh we are going to talk about development camp and how that went we’re gonna be talking about Jeremy Swan and what the hell is going on with him and we’ll be talking about we’ll be answering some of your live questions don’t go anywhere we’ll be coming we’ll be right back in 60 seconds here on the black and gold hockey podcast [Music] if you’re start the second half of the show with an update on Jeremy San Jeremy Swan is uh officially not going to arbitration he said well no no no no no no no no not he at least he did not declare tomorrow the Bruins still have a shot to still have a the right to uh declare for arbitration but swayan said no um as the swan saga continues here uh we still await any possible contract information on him we don’t know what’s going on all we know Swan says no what are our thoughts um I I you know arbitration is good because it creates a deadline but when you pass that deadline and end up going to the meeting then all hell breaks loose exactly I don’t think either side wants to go to it um the the other good news is any team um any so the Bruns can still file for arbitration up until 5:00 pm tomorrow um if swayan had signed had gone to arbitration then he can no longer sign an offer sheet okay the Bruins have till 5m. tomorrow any NHL team had to have an offer sheet in by 5: pm tonight to negate uh swayan not being able to sign an offer sheet should the Bruins file for arbitration so two deadlines passed tonight um I don’t think it’s coming going to arbitration I think I think both sides know what it’s going to take it’s just when you’re talking a contract of eight years and around 8 million it all comes down to how the money’s paid out and I I think that’s what it is for sure uh oh go ahead no all you mark uh yeah this is something that I don’t believe uh just by hearing the quotes from Jeremy Swan last last year when they went through this process it was it was it was ugly you could see in his face and in in his um in his uh manner when he was talking about it so I don’t think both sides want to get there um but I’m not totally freaking out about it either because um I if I’m not mistaken on puckpedia which we’re now using because cap friendly is officially gone um you know I think that we have what close to 9 million Dom in in cap savings 8,573 333 and 33 cents so they have the Boston Bruins have about 8.5 million to get Jeremy signed uh locked in and I think that that that was the plan all along it’s been the priority all along um one thing that many people need to understand is there’s no like real list as much as I wanted this done ahead of time this this is all calculated by what they’re doing and so on it’s a business and and so on but I still think it a deal gets done no matter what because they they are saving that much money which we’re all thinking the 7.5 to 8.5 million range so if they weren’t interested in keeping the player then that money would have been eaten up a long time ago so it seems like they’re saving it I think things will be uh all set and ready to go and there’s no need to freak out for sure and I I think it’s as sort of Mark’s point right it was expected that the Bruins likely and San as well likely wouldn’t be heading to arbitration Following last year’s more or less the blle you heard it from San himself how discontent he seemed with the entire situation so really was only a matter of time and I still think uh you know development camp we even saw swiming over there right what was going to be coming they’re clearly in talks of a contract I think it’s only a matter of time now sort of hashing out the final details in my personal opinion this is all speculative of course I do think it’s only a matter of time for this deal gets done yeah I mean they wouldn’t have he wouldn’t have been at Warrior rice Arena this week if there wasn’t at least something going on I mean he was there right Mark you can attest that he was at he was there watching development Camp there had there have been talks going on during that time right I don’t know about that I think it’s his I think his agent is doing a lot more of the talking than J is but I’m sure sw’s definitely in the room for some of those discussions because it’s his money what’s oh no no that’s that’s what they pay the agent for the players are very rarely are in the room or or in the discussion the the agent does the negotiating then he calls the player and says look this is the best deal I can get for you I suggest you take it or you know I I’m sure Swan isn’t even getting daily updates now hope hopefully he’s saying off Twitter tter nightmare right now it is awful the fact that he’s in Boston speaks volumes and he’s not back home in Alaska yeah or up in me right they also wouldn’t have featured him in the schedule Reveal video that they did the other day if he wasn’t at least planning on coming back next year he was in that video with makoy Marshon with horrendous acting all around but that’s okay it was still hilarious to see him there all them there with David Andrews Patriots uh me Patriots offensive lineman uh I I would not like he wouldn’t have been in that video If at least there was something coming soon right right that’s just that’s just my take on it if if they were smart and if they weren’t so sure they would have had poock in that video instead of San to be safe but the fact that he was in there makes me think oh they’re they’re close at least they’re on the right path on something so that’s my thoughts any more thoughts on Swan do you think uh do we have a timetable what do you guys think when this deal could be done I’m not asking if you have know anything but it’ll be done by opening night nice Y no my I I made a prediction for our video here on the YouTube channel I said July the 7th so I might as well stick with that one Sunday all right fair enough now what’s the next topic where’s where are we talking about development Camp okay let’s stick with Jeremy Swan for a second but I want to I want to move it in a different direction all right um I’m I’m in the midst of writing an article and um one of the biggest complaints is how much worse the Bruins goal tending situation is that they traded allmark and got corello back whether it’s busy whether it’s corello whether it’s DPO who ends up being the backup I want everybody to take a step back take a breath and think about it like this okay Jeremy swayan and lenus Almar almost did a 5050 split it’s 41 games a piece okay did the Bruins go tending get worse by moving mmark okay take his 41 starts SW is going to get 55 to 60 okay 14 to 19 of w Mark starts have now gone to San is that go tending worse whoever you’re back yes on one condition if swiming gets hurt then this go tending has gone to sh examles well yeah but hold on hear me out whoever your backup is you start them against the San Jose of the world the columbuses of the world you you protect the backup how many more losses considering when you look at the goal tending situation like how many more losses do you expect this year over last year not much 10 yeah 10 because the the other problem becomes right is to put it in like if we’re gonna play the context game Swan hasn’t played a full season right in in his starter role and you also have to take into consideration that sure come playoff time he looked great this year but he was also on plenty of rest right where he might get banged up halfway through the year have to keep playing because he’s the star to the go-to guy before you could subm in a guy like allar to take that role right and I understand that but on the other side is making the argument without knowing what’s going to happen the gending is got coraco had his best year in LA with who as his goenda you guys know him oh yeah Boba Senza yeah that’s a that that’s gonna be a key factor for Corpus solo is is how he’s gonna come into Boston and and work out train and be ready for the upcoming year um uh but that’s Mark you know you know Brandon busy and how hard he works there’s nothing to say that he can’t go into camp and steal it oh no I’m not saying that there’s going to be a very healthy competition in training camp this this fall it’s going to be so interesting to see we’re not this is a year that we’re not going to be going okay it’s going to be all Mark and Swan now it’s like it’s Swan and a huge question mark because nobody has at least right now as we’re talking in in early July has solidified that backup role quite yet right but I I’m I’m saying to the people that say the go tending has got worse without any context or without any thought to consider my side without any context or any thought and I do hear what you’re saying Dom I I really do but if you’re asking me objectively if the Bruins goal tending got worse from this deal yes how much worse we can argue that and I think that’s a perfectly Fair your your your argument certainly fits well within that but if we’re just looking at it objectively did the Bruns School tending get better or worse in my opinion it got worse well yeah it got worse but it’s not as bad as people are making it out to be oh no 100% no 100 per. I I don’t think anyone’s well obviously some people think that considering what we’ve seen but in my personal opinion no I I don’t think it’s as bad as people are saying but it has gotten worse a little bit Yeah well I I’m not saying it’s declin but people are talking like Corp pasalo is going to go in there and start 41 games GES and he’s not because they’re not going to pay Jeremy Swan $8 million a year to sit on the bench for half a season right no they’re not to they’re not going to um it’ll be a very competitive training camp it’ll be a very competitive preseason kind of figuring out who where people slot in so we’ll see what happens with that we’ll see who gets the backup RW well and hopefully next week by the time we speak again hopefully sway be locked up so the fan base can shut up about it I hope it goes to opening week Dom just wants like total chaos you are playing Devil’s Advocate tonight and it’s not fun like you know I keep I’ve been telling Mark for two years now controversy self and and and that’s what you need man it’s that’s funny just just to watch the Meltdown you know Twitter’s a field day right now if you look up the if you look up Swan on Twitter you scroll through the latest he’s scrolling for hours and it’s like Don Sweeney why the F have you not signed him yet yeah come on it’s like just going for hours like take a chill pill relax for a little bit it’ll be all right they’ll they’ll they’re gonna do it they’ll sign the favorite one is is that but that Parker mlan said he was going to sign an8 times8 deal by July the 7th I made sure to put a disclaimer on the bottom this is a prediction you know people won’t read that Parker so NE so Sunday night when he doesn’t sign that contract or Monday morning when people wake up and he doesn’t sign they’re G be like oh this Parker guy has no idea what he’s talking about see but but when it happens it’s an 8.25 by eight Mill by eight years I I I better be putting like the The Herald or whatever your Boston paper is Boston Globe Boston heral uh you’ll be put on every National media Outlet out there you know BL and go hockey.com yeah too exactly well coming up next uh let’s talk about development Camp here uh we have a few players highlighted that Mark wanted to chat about and Mark along with Jason cook and Tom clat we’re at we’re at the development camp at Warrior Ice Arena the last few days so let’s chat about a few of these players first off recent draft pick Jonathan MLL what did you see out of MLL how good did he look yeah we talked about it earlier he’s got some good speed good skill um you know it’s just it’s a work in progress um Raw Talent as many would say um a solid pick and I like what I saw out in the ice uh very engaged um you know when he needed advice you know uh Adam McQuade was close by or or any of the other supporting coaching staff that was out in the ice all week um development Camp was a four-day uh um event this year held at the warrior Ice Arena um and yeah I mean I thought it was uh I thought he did good along with several other prospects um uh this was a much better development Camp than I than I anticipated because of the fact is that we were kind of wondering if we were going to get back into the first round or not but I think that the the players that were invited uh did a decent job um you put a good show on for the fans that were in attendance speaking of the first round Dean Loro this year’s first round pick we discussed him earlier how good did he look in in the uh in development Camp is there any uh is there any still big any problems with him or did he have a overall a good development Camp I I want to say Oscar Yelich uh put him over his ass um and hit him pretty hard and knocked him right off um so there’s there’s some things that he needs to work on you know he’s a young kid coming into Camp uh for the first time um and in Boston pretty much for the first time so there’s a lot of work things that he could work on too and stability agility and strength uh is one of the biggest things that I noticed but if you look besides all that when he does have the puck he’s very creative for a big man and he has a really decent shot and he you know he really leans into a rer it puts a lot of that weight behind him to get off a really good shot yeah uh Jackson Edward you highlighted him drafted in 2022 looks like he’ll be with either Maine or Providence next year what’s Jackson Edward how did how did he do uh just another skilled defenseman that is a nasty guy to play against it doesn’t matter if it’s a regular season or playoff game or development camp this guy brings it every every time he’s out on the ice um he there’s no friends when he steps on the ice and an opposing come opposing player comes at him um just just a nasty guy and Adam McQuade talked about him a lot this week about how much more how much he’s getting better and his track is getting you know a lot better than what they thought it would be absolutely Riley Duran 2020 draft pick what’s Riley Duran looking like how’d he do Speedster uh great release um really engaged as one of the um guys that has been around for a couple years in development camp now um so you know younger players or even invites that come in um can lean on a player like him um split this not split the season but you played at Providence College and then seven games in the American Hockey League um and Ryan Mel and uh Adam McQuade they all spoke very highly of him about his track and and his development curve is going in the in the very good uh right direction um you know some are calling Dark Horses for for him to be an NHL player very soon so lots of good things from Riley Durant and I think he’s gonna be a really good player uh with a full season under um in the American Hockey League with the province ruins next season hopefully we get to see some a glimpse of that hopefully in the preseason Oscar jelic how did he do probably one of the best players out of Camp uh in my opinion and and from Reading several other articles and several other media members that were uh alongside uh Tom and Jason and myself uh this week um he just really stood out his offensive capabilities his speed his Edge work um agility he’s he’s he’s he’s another one that’s like really on the right curve of his development going back to BC uh going to play with lerno and gasau uh so I’m not not sure if it’s going to be on the same line due to left shot right shot but they’ll be on the same uh team and uh moving forward together so that’s uh something to look forward to at Boston College next year yeah so we had some feet on the ground obviously as you were saying we were we had Jason cook Tom kadi and yourself Mark and you took a lot of footage for us and you’ll be posting some of that footage later in the week you mentioned earlier before we went live uh some scrimmages and some stuff like that yeah so uh yesterday was July 4th uh as and today’s the 5th as we record this so um I’m having a little bit of uh computer problems technical issues as uh as Boston gamer would say our boy Kevin um but I am going to be releasing pretty soon we we are going to be releasing pretty soon in uh about a 20 minute video of the of the full scrimmage and later on we’re going to be releasing some three Onre short nice um tournament it’s four games that they played so I I that’s about 30 minutes that people can see how these players do uh in shorter areas and uh and how nasty they are to each other even though it’s development Camp nobody takes a break so they will all be up right here on this on YouTube so if you’re if you’re on YouTube if you’re not on YouTube actually head over to our YouTube channel go subscribe if you have not yet make sure you have the Bell on because it’ll be it’ll be be up here really soon hopefully this weekend fingers crossed we’re looking at a Sunday release hit hit the like button please right now guys everybody hit the like button we’d certainly appreciate it it helps our Channel absolutely uh so last topic of discussion what’s the future of the Bruins look like this offseason we have a lot of time left it feels like everything everything just happened like that and now it all just kind of stops with some signings trickling in do we kind of just play the waiting game now or what what what now yeah I I think the only thing that’s left here right is what’s to come with Bruins RFA goenda right you have to play the waiting game on him once you sign him figure out what the contract looks like maybe you make a move maybe not you know we’re at that point now it’s just in that waiting phase but there’s plenty of plenty of stuff still going on with the BRS and I’ll be curious to see what goes on with them as we head down the stretch here as long as we have we have not just Swingman he’s none of the rfas that are left uh elected for arbitration so Michael cahan uh Mark mlin Alec regula so what are our thoughts that do you think all of them come back I think regula comes back mclocklin comes back and Callahan comes back and Swan comes back well yeah of course that’s the big one yeah I’m gonna dub tail on on what Adam said as well um I like regula what he did last year he leted all defense or was it all players or all defensemen in plus minus last year all players yeah that’s what I thought I keep screwing that up uh but he’s a he’s he’s a player that’s got a little bit of nastiness to him um and you know a good teammate um but yeah I I don’t think anything is going to you know I don’t think we’re going to get like that that late bulk with signing that we did last summer no um I just I I think that the bruan just want to save as much money as I can to lock up Jeremy Swan and you know maybe have a little bit of cap relief if if San does have to take A Team friendly deal which I doubt will happen but still would like to have a nice million a cool million or two of a valuable cap space as you go through the season and as my friend Dom as my friend Dom uh always explains to me that you can acrew yeah like 8 if San signs for 8 million they have 500,000 in c space that’s worth almost $4 million on trade deadline day exactly so and you know they could always move bodies up and down to Providence on noname days to bank a little extra space um but I I I want to say this after your comments about Alec regula so Alec regula Max Jones Jackson Edward and um one more who am I missing Alan no Callahan no Max Jones Jackson Edward Alec regula there’s one more Parker help me out here former London Knights oh London Knights uh oh boy uh oh you can’t put me on the spot like that D it’ll come to me um I’ll pull it up so so um let me see here I’m on Puck maybe that’s it I think that’s it I can’t think of one but no that’s it um the three of them but and that’s how you know we’re live folks right yeah so but you know they love their former London nights now and you know Nikita zadorov I knew there was four what I knew there was four yep zadorov played in London right so I’ve said it for years Dale Hunter is the best coach at preparing players for the National Hockey League and that’s why the London Knights have had more players drafted into the NHL than any other team around the world and uh you know should speak volumes that we have four of them on the on on the Bruins right now absolutely well we’re gonna open it up to some live questions right now from the chat whether you’re on YouTube Facebook twitch X if you can send in a comment go for it if you have any questions for us send in your live questions we will be happy to answer them live in live here on stream for you guys um we’ll start off with this question uh who do you think the current Bruins roster matches up best or worst against with other teams in the league it’s a deep question yeah right Florida yeah good answer Dom for toughness yeah absolutely 100% and not to not to sound once again like a broken record tonight but I’m going to take the Toronto Maple Leafs yet again you know this is a team that still year after year they try and address their size but find ways still to be a soft team you look at a guy like Mitch Marner still yet to be traded and this question still around him it looks like they’re going to try resign them too right is it for the for that that Leaf’s core they just have had problems tarus isn’t going to wave as no move you know you have guys like Matthews who obviously isn’t GNA be on the Move neander becomes the obvious pick but he probably won’t be on the move so then the question becomes who on that Leaf’s team still needs to move in that forward core you know you can address your bottom six all you want but at the end of the day that softness problem comes from within mhm absolutely I think the Bruins match up well against Florida like Dom said yeah and like I think giving given what Happ what has happened the past two years the one thing the Panthers had over the Bruins was toughness and size now the Panthers don’t have that now the Bruins have them beat in that they have them beaten the size and toughness Department I I think so adding zador off on your defensive end will actually help you out def from a toughness standpoint Max Jones and Mark Castell will respond well to that as well I think personally I think it also helps out Trent Frederick that he doesn’t have to be the guy anymore which allows him to um to pick his spots right absolutely I agree Uh Kevin asks oh no go ahead Uh Kevin asks Maran Coy Frederick second line if lell doesn’t work out thoughts I can see it yeah can can I go off the board here I want to go off the board again I want Justin brazzo on that second line oh I think I think he’s one of those guys where you give him the opportunity you give him the minutes eventually he’ll find his way and I think just the way he plays you put him alongside two guys that like to work in the corners right Marshon loves to be in the corner coil very similarly put a guy like brzo down there with a little bit more size to be able to push around that bottom part might be an interesting line combination down there that might be the craziest thing I’ve ever heard you say Parker and I’ve known you for two years that might actually be the crazi thing I’ve ever heard you say ever I’ve said some pretty crazy stuff Sam come on that’s crazy that’s crazy uh but honestly hey it’s worth a shot I mean if brazzo let’s say he gets stuck up there one game and plays the best game he’s ever played go for it that’s what I think um let’s see what else keep sending in your keep sending in uh your questions um somebody asked Blackhawks guy here Bob hey Mark my friend with all the signings and depth already with the Bruins do you think it’s going to shake the team up I don’t know about shaking up I think it’s is going to be a lot better A little bit more meaner um you know I could definitely kind of see them having pretty much the same season as they had this past year um moving forward but I I don’t know if it’s going to shake them up and hello Bob from Chicago my buddy hopefully things are well with you and the wife and family can’t wait to see you out here when you come out to Boston and Portland Maine uh well there is this is an interesting rumor word is that Crosby wants out of Pittsburgh should the Bruins take a run at him no and it’s nothing against Crosby just he doesn’t tra trade San pick up Crosby I’ll leave that uh I think that’s the only way that this happens no then hey Don what do you think about that they get they trade out swim and then what happens to uh the goal tending we still thinking it’s uh it it’s still not that much worse oh no then it’s it’s [Music] [Laughter] different because now you don’t have 60 games of sing I’ll be back in a couple minutes kids all right we’re gonna keep you yeah we’ll just keep you there for a second he’ll be right back um this is an interesting one I don’t think Swan I don’t think Crosby would fit the Brew current core I just don’t he’s no that’s a that’s a hypothetical I I think um thoughts on Morgan geeky an extension or question mark I’m for it I I’m a big Mark go for it Mark no no I I just said yeah that’s all yeah I I think that there’s a there’s a realm where that makes sense the one problem is where does he fall right you look at what the Bruins have now are you going to sub Frederick or yeah Frederick out on the third line probably not are you going to put geeki down to the fourth line doesn’t make a ton of sense you’re G to take out patra’s opportunity on the third line I don’t know and then are you’re just going to stick him on the fourth line once again becomes the question for that Center rle and that becomes the problem with geeky right now is he’s sort of a guy that’s out of a spot but he’s good enough to play on any one of those lines it’s just a matter of where to fit them properly absolutely I’m for it I liked geek play last year he’s still young has a lot to improve with I think geeki will have a much better year this year than he did last year and geeki didn’t have a bad year last year I think geeki is gonna play some really good hockey in the middle six wherever he ends up if he’s If he if he is sliding up in that second line right wing if they lell doesn’t work out or merula or whatever they decide whatever happens if they slide geeky there then geeky works I think it’s going to be a good option for I think geeky will be fine um and I think he should get an extension uh okay we have a what’s up oh I I like Morgan geeky and everything but I think what what they did when they signed him as a two-year deal it was uh because it was pretty much like a stop gap for some of the prospects that they have right now that are knocking on the NHL or in the NHL already you know if if if Matt ptra um comes out has a breakout year and I I honestly don’t believe that Morgan geeki will be back in an extension I think that that’s that spot for him uh would be gone for somebody that’s going to be coming through uh the American Hockey League with one of our prospects um but if those guys can’t do the job of the younger players then it’s not a bad idea to bring him back on a on a one-year deal or even another twoyear all it all depends on the landscape yeah uh Rick asks if there’s any thoughts on John Farinacci or Jackson Nelson in development Camp were they even there uh Jackson Nelson was there and I thought he did okay I thought he’s got some speed good skill um I’m going to be saying that a lot um when we talk about development Camp um John fonci not there um he’s pretty much aged himself out of development Camp um so uh oh okay this is a general question favorite Bruins player right now um oh I don’t know I don’t have one my my favorite player was toass so I I I’m gonna go with Brad Marshawn uh as some as a Bruins fan from Toronto there’s no player that everyone around me hates more than Brad marshan so I’m gonna go with him not to mention he’s always looked good in the Canadian uniform so we’ll we we’ll take him there you go well before I give my answer I want point out that on my YouTube channel I’m actually calling because I’m a sports play-by-play guy um I am actually calling the four nations challenge live this February so uh I’ll be calling Canada US Finland Sweden um during that break this year in the middle of February so that should be pretty good I’m excited for that as well as obviously Bruins coverage as well throughout the entire season over on my channel so uh that’s gonna be great uh so I’ll be calling all those games and it should be a lot of fun uh but for me favorite Bruin right now Jeremy Swan there you go that’s what I doesn’t count he’s not a Bru right now Parker such an ass um if that’s the case we’re going by signed Bruins at the moment I don’t make the rules I just enforce them then I have to go poast knock yeah that’s the that’s that’s the easy way out [Music] um uh oh this is a good one favorite Bruin that’s like asking me what my favorite food is my stomach doesn’t discriminate nice so he just likes everybody Kevin just likees just likes everybody huh um make sure to keep sending in your questions we have some live questions to answer so make sure to keep sending in your questions um oh guess who’s back th is back the pope back oh me never mind we were just answering a question I figured if you want to answer this who’s your favorite Bruins player right now right now right now Ma Max Jones nice answer I like it uh are the Bruins screwed for cap space no no no they’re not Parker no no I I think they got uh they’re they’re fine right now obviously the swiming contract hopefully we’ll come in something under the 8ish range I think 8.25 is roughly where it’ll be but could be anywhere higher than that it could be anywhere lower than that uh Kevin asks Mark did who was your biggest standout for development camp and even more importantly did you have a good time I had a blast I had a I I finally got to meet uh Tom Cudi I finally get to meet Jason um Jason cook those guys have been grinding it out uh ever since they got here um those are the two guys that uh have been covering most of the uh regular season up in the ninth floor of the Boston Bruins uh media section and uh they were they were amazing uh lots of great content from them uh pay attention to the black andol hockey.com website please and also this YouTube channel because we get a lot of uh development Camp stuff coming up with rankings and and player profiles and so on so we get a lot of stuff going on here absolutely oh this is a good one from Bob with coming to Boston the second week of October Mark are you taking uh Joan and Joanne and Bob to a game great listening to you to you guys gentlemen looking forward to checking in on the next one I I don’t make concrete money uh Bob so no I will not be taking you and Joanna to a game uh if I made your salary I’d be buying everybody tickets uh but uh anyway I I will be buying drinks if you’d like I I can afford that Bruin’s prices for tickets right now are insane anyway it’s crazy um well the brw well this is actually a good question thoughts on the on if the Bruins should continue to wear the Centennial sweater or are you happy that the original jersey is back I’m happy with the original Jersey just go back to the gold socks yeah there you go I like it too yeah I like here’s the thing I at first when they where jerseys were released I wasn’t a big fan of them but now now that the season’s over I got used to them so now I don’t want them to go away you know what I mean yeah this is gonna be interesting I I I like them I like them a lot and I kind of wish they were they kind were kind of kept you know kept um but yeah it should be very interesting um to see what the I want the Poo Bear back oh no Dom stop it yes I love the PO bear slap that man’s hand wait I love the Poo Bear the white one or the mustard yellow one which one are we talking about the mustard yellow one yes yes I think if you ask any Canadian they’ll tell you the Pooh Bear juice Jersey I wish the Bruins would bring back the Jersey the AL the alternate that they had uh for a while there it was um the black jersey with the yellow Crest and it said Bruins and it had the bear on it you know what I’m talking about 20156 I think no it was uh the one from 2007 to like 206 something like that here I’ll pull up a picture I’ll share my screen I’ll pull up a picture Bruins old alternate I’ll pull it up so you guys can see what I’m talking about yeah this one here hold on I’ll share my screen you guys be able to see this on if you’re watching the video Live on YouTube or wherever you’re watching if you’re watching live this one do you see this one yeah the Men in Black the men I like these ones I wish they brought I I was so sad when these went away they down there the Poo Bear these are beautiful just Majestic look at that and of course you bring up Don Sweeney wearing it that was a complete accident that’ll piss off them people anyway um yeah so there’s that uh let’s see uh this one’s for dom dom if you could remove one player from from this roster to make it better who would you remove if there’s one at all wow coming in with a hot and heavy question tonight I I have one in mind um now do I get to replace the player or just remove the player to make it remove it just remove it then I don’t have one interesting I I I think and I think you guys all agree with me is there isn’t really a weak link to this roster no oh Dom um uh Kevin said you can replace if you want okay um then it’s Charlie Coyle who’ you replace Co with well doesn’t he didn’t say I had to name with if if you could replace Charley Coy with uh you know I I think that’s that’s the spot on the roster that could use some improvement the second line Center yeah coil had 60 points last year he’ll be all right yeah if he was third line Center I’d be fine with him there but right now he’s second line Center and without knowing who the right wing is you’re going to need him to be better than last year yeah no absolutely you’re gonna have to H he has to have another career year yeah and I’m not sure he has a better year in him only remains to be seen oh the oh God this one’s for me this one’s for Sam Smith Sam what happened to the music career what made you switch to cover ing hockey after being at the top of the music charts if you guys don’t know there’s an artist by the name of Sam Smith I joked one time that he was my cousin while I was at summer camp and then the world hated me when I found when I revealed that I was lying the whole time I get this joke at least once every two or three months and fig it comes from [Laughter] Kevin yeah uh you know I just didn’t like the music career uh I it’s toxic you know and I just wanted to go into something you come to talk about the Bruins yeah oh yeah what what a career change yeah I want to go talk about the Boston Bruins oh yeah H um let’s see really really how about none oh my gosh I K ainla Men In Black Bruins Jersey that’s nice Jerome ainla nice speaking that his son got drafted by Utah right yep and then another former Bruin’s son got drafted Meo chatan Jr got drafted this year too yeah so it it was interesting because I remember watching both those guys as kids um as a kid I like our Sams thank you all right least somebody has my side here man gez uh I like that name be force one isn’t that the name of the Bruins jet I don’t know if it I don’t know if they officially call it that but it should be it should be Dom Durant sh out a camp could make a Marshon esque push I truly believe he’s a year away but he wants it as bad as ptra works hard you know what I will say this with all due respect to Duran uh the the reason why everybody’s talking about him is because Trevor countar wasn’t at Camp if if Trevor countar was at Camp we’d be talking more about Trevor countar than we would about Duram but I will say that I’ve heard Trevor has been working extremely hard um this off season a little more than actually a lot more than he has in the past he’s on a mission this this this off season so there’s going to be like I like I said before there’s going to be a healthy competition throughout the Bruins Organization for spats coming up in the uh in the freeon yeah preseason so it’s going to be exciting but yeah Trevor’s been uh putting on the weight working out and and getting ready yeah and remember he was my he’s my sleeper to make the roster out of camp but I will say this a a lot of people put too much emphasis on development Camp yeah it’s great to go and see what these guys are doing but you need an overall body of work and countar was not there this year and his overall body of work uh puts him ahead of Duran yep we’re we’re just not seeing the talk this time of year because again too much of the focus is on development Camp agreed this one’s for Parker Parker who would you have picked with the 25th pick it’s a good question would you L turno still H if if we’re gonna be talking about the same word I’ve said all night long with size yes um if the brunes hadn’t made that uh basically their their whole ideology I don’t know what the word is identity I guess is the word I’m looking for here um if they weren’t going to do that I’d say go like a guy like Cole Hudson um I saw watched a lot of him through the Juniors the u8s um so he’s a guy that was on my radar uh ended up going to second round Washington I think 43 in and around there um but I do think with the the the option that they had T was still a great option uh David asks if we’ve seen the schedule if so where do you see the bright spots maybe the challenging days and months overall my opinion the schedule looks better this year than what it did what it looked like last year it looked a little more it not as many backto backs which is the which is a good thing not as many uh back-to-back games against tough teams too as Mark is uh away for a second he’ll be back with us shortly um but the the schedule looks better honestly I haven’t even looked at the schedule I have I just saw some tweets out there about you know the Florida game the Montreal game but I haven’t even looked at the schedule yeah that makes two of us D and the I know what I did see was some terrible acting and that kind of scared me off a little bit um I saw that thing and I think I threw my phone across the couch and completely forgot about it so that’s what as far as I’ve looked at it but you know it’s at the end of the day it’s still a very similar schedule to last year right you play majority of the same teams so you’re not going to have that much variation at the end of the day yeah and and for those that may not know because there’s a lot of bitching about the schedule maker and it’s unwarranted because they come up with a schedule first of all teams have to submit dates that the arena is available okay so automatically they’re at a disadvantage schedule maker does the best then they supply all 32 teams with a proposed schedule and the teams have to approve it so if if you don’t like the Boston ruin schedule that’s not on the schedule maker that’s on President Cam Neely for approving it yeah exactly Mark is back he was having some camera issues the past a little bit but he’s back every week Mark every week I’m having issues techn technology is not my friend this week at all oh I’m about to throw this stuff out the window I I learned I learned yesterday how to block Microsoft from receiving data off of my computer and it’s never worked better nice well there you go oh this is a good one this one’s for all four of you what did you have for dinner Kevin of course asks this all the time if you haven’t had it what will you be having I had Smash Burgers and potato salad now I’m eating an entire box of Mini Wheats go around I’m going to McDonald’s to pick up a couple of their new uh creamy bacon parmesan Quarter Pounders I didn’t even know that existed yeah just come out I had one I had one yesterday man they’re fabulous and I thought man I wish I’d gotten two of them Mark I have not eating yet I’m gonna fire up the grill um and probably cook something I don’t know quite yet Mark will probably smoke something and tease us with pictures on on Twitter and go thanks for inviting me Mark that’ll be soon that’ll be soon Parker uh so the long answer or the short answer is plain pasta with nothing on it the longer answer is this week has been a long week uh in terms of health so that’s what I had to tonight and I had a New England classic Parker and D you have no idea what this is American shop sooi nice with some garlic bread so never heard of it CH it’s like it’s pasta with meat and tomato sa it’s good it’s just good and I had some garlic bread with it if Don Kevin that’s the most important question then so be it it’s like Gage Gage yeah um well I got a few more minutes left in the show here um let’s keep running through some questions um well as okay we already know what the okay well serious question to Dom what are the chances that they let San go no come on even though he from Chicago even though he’s from Chicago Bob’s a little slow you know what they they can’t just let him go because they gave him a qualifying offer um they could trade him or trade his rights but I don’t think that’s happening no that would that would piss a lot of people off uh let’s see oh Parker’s got a white board 0.000000 z a million zeros 1% okay that’s good nice I’m not good with the numbers but I don’t think that’s good practically zero um let’s see the bees are the bees worried about scoring in the bottom six if so would you try to sign a project like Philip Zaden to a cheat contract interesting yeah goal Mark exactly um if if if the Bruins do have space this could be that kind of Bist kind of guy we were talking about a late a late signing if there’s C for him um another another forward that I think could thrive in this system I believe uh didn’t work out Detroit didn’t work out um where else did he go San Jose San Jose you know he might might need a new and a and a better organization to like work with and see if we can like you know get those skills out of him that we knew he had in the past when he was uh selected by the Red Wings um I I could I I don’t hate it let put it that way no another guy that I could see them trying to go after possibly maybe at a if doesn’t work out a PTO Zaden and Kaylor Yamamoto it’s another guy if he gets a PTO Kay yeah he’s to too small well Z too Parker what what were those 12 words from earlier I remember them by heart you ready yeah player big big player big or size I don’t remember what maybe I don’t remember it’s been a long day Dom you can’t go quizzing me like that okay so your thoughts on on Zaden because I did a poll on Twitter yesterday got, 1500 votes uhuh and 62% of Bruins fans said they would take a chance on Zena nice so Parker what you think I think so my view is a little bit different for most people I well I guess very similar to a lot of 63% or whatever the number was there but I think you do take a chance I don’t think you sign it for anything more than league minimum I think there’ll be there might even be another team in the market for that which becomes the problem of course if trying to go into a bidding war but I think you give them an opportunity put them alongside you know then the question becomes where do you put them right and then so it’s very similar to the problem with a guy like Morgan geeki right where as of this moment if you are going according to plan where do you stick a guy like Morgan geeki because you know a guy like bra or not braz L lell we talked about merula was another one if for example they take over that second line right winger spot where does a guy like geeky go because you have po Patra you’re gonna put him back down and then you know you sort of look to at what the team looks like right now you’ll be sacrificing something so sadena yes I think you could take a chance on him but then the problem becomes similar to geeki situation is where are you going to stick him and is he gonna have any any chance to play I look at it like this I don’t think bottom six scoring is a problem for the Bruins next season uh Max Jones will give you more than lco or Steen or maroon or who else played on the fourth line uh Castell uh um Brown will will bring some offense beer will look to improve I think Frederick will improve Brazil you’ll get a full season out of him uh as opposed to what did he play a dozen games I can’t remember now um and if Matthew ptra is your third line Center he’s obviously going to improve uh I don’t think bottom six scoring is a big deal for this team I think it’ll be an improvement over last year as much as I think that the defense scoring from the defense will improve over last season absolutely it’ll be it it will be much better and Kevin Nails it right on the head it’s a lowrisk high reward situation with Zena why not especially the league minimum deal for one or two for for a year and give it a shot there’s nothing wrong with that at all you can easily send them to Providence and not have him count against the cap yeah if it doesn’t work out uh oh okay he’s talking about the food best segment tonight thanks for sharing making me hungry of course what a shocker Kevin and his Kevin okay this is crazy we need to create some cap room next summer to get Dr we’re not getting dry CLE next uh I would want it but no did sprong sign anywhere yet I looked it up no strong still still a free agent that could be another option with like sadena I could see that but I don’t I don’t quite I don’t know how often do you guys have this podcast well we’re live once a week yes once a week right here on all the platforms you’re watching on YouTube Facebook X twitch and I’ll be
