  1. Just a possibility: Kane on LTIR basically pays for our former overage plus Broberg, Holloway (at NHL) and Lavoie at AHL AND gives us over the 2.1 from the McLeod trade gives us maybe 2.5 to sign a 2RD (if such exists and can be gotten) to compliment Darnell Nurse (gotta keep ALL of Connor's friends happy) more if you can move Ceci. Just a thought.

  2. Wow wasn't expecting that Ryan being traded. I hope Jeff has made the correct decision! There is something in continuity. Good luck Ryan. Don't worry about not getting info out especially if your under the weather. Your content is still the best. Thanks for your update Patrick 👍 GO 🏒 Oilers

  3. It is a fair trade for both teams. Matt Savoie is top level prospect. He is injury prone and a little bit under size.
McLoed has become one of the top PKs during the playoffs. And he is getting better while playing with Perry. Oilers probably won't have enough cap space next season to resign him. I guess trade him while his value is high.

  4. I didn’t really care for McLeod, he was a perimeter player didn’t throw the body much and lost a lot of battles for the puck. Scored in flashes.

  5. Good luck to McLeod in Buffalo. Trade lowers the cap and the team gets a top prospect. Jackson not shy about making moves. Future looks bright

  6. McLeod is a fan favourite, and it sucks he has to be the odd man out. However, I think he'll certainly appreciate the elevate role and ice time he is sure to get in Buffalo, versus Edmonton too. He is leaving a contender, yes, but he may be the start of something building in Buffalo.

Personally, I wish him the best there, and Buffalo fans, the best. They deserve a step in the right direction, after so long outside of the playoffs.

McLeod was a good Oiler though, and ya, part of me doesn't like seeing him go. Best of luck in Buffalo, bud. 🍻

  7. 1:21 Depending how he performs in TC, he may be an injury away from the bigs.

Who knows though, he may surprise us all, and crack the roster on opening night. That's the beauty of TC. Many things can happen.

  8. I don't really like losing McLeod but someone from the forward group had to go and he was the obvious choice. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ceci go as well, maybe for prospects or draft picks. That would address the immediate cap issues and leave a strong group for the coming season. 4C could be an issue but Ryan should be able to handle the minutes.

  9. Good trade. Sorry Patrick, but I won't really miss McLeod. I think there were weaknesses in his game which have been documented elsewhere and the Oilers are at a point where they can't wait any longer for him to overcome those issues. Opens up cap space. Need to get Broberg and Holloway done. Broberg will be a regular on the blue line this coming season. No reason for him to stay down in Bakersfield. Outstanding skater and moves the puck well. Holloway is another good skater and also willing to get to the front of the net. Broberg and Holloway are only going to get better. I want Evander to stay. He has a lot to offer when he's healthy. LTIR then. That gives the team a lot of time to figure out the cap issue. He might have made the difference if he'd been able to play in game seven.

  10. The Oilers “may” still need a 4th line center, if the lines pan out as most would assume (McD, Hyman, Nuge)(Drai, Skinner, Arvidsson)(Henrique, Brown, Janmark). Training camp and preseason may be where they find that 4th line center to alternate with Ryan via AHL prospects. Nice job by J.Jackson so far.

  11. Hope the oilers can bring his brother back so the two can play together in the AHL, even if its just for a year

  12. I liked McLeod, but he just didn't bring it enough in the playoffs, only scoring 4 goals and 0 assists. One of those goals was the 8th in an 8-1 game against Florida, and another was an empty-netter to make the score 4-1 in game 6 against the Panthers, so half of his goals arguably not super consequential.

  13. I’m not liking the trend the oil are making in terms of size and grit….. other teams will see this as an advantage and opportunity to win battles against our smaller wingers, especially in playoffs. McLeod, I believe, needed a fresh start, but we should have traded for a gritty type winger instead.

  14. We need cap space and McLeod was odd man out with his salary. He never lived up to offensive potential and might do better in a new environment. With what we are over on the cap now and having to sign Holloway and Broberg it looks like Ceci is going to be moved next. It a shame that Carter has not panned out and I was not aware the Oilers did not offer him a contract.

  15. Savoie could the first call up for any injuries, and I could see him on the wing full time in the NHL after this upcoming season

  16. Hi Patrick from Germany and thx for the new Infos. From my side I don't know much about the sabre and I liked Mcloud much especially his speed and in a line with Drai and Foegele. But perhaps it is for all the best result to make a change? So I will look a lot at the new guy in order to get knowing him better. Cheers and a nice weekend to everybody…

  17. I would say this guy is coming in and playing this season, I really don't understand why he wouldn't make the cut, he was on pace for 152 pts this year. Crazy to think he wouldn't be in the lineup on opening night.

  18. Mcleod is 24 years old and he have just been able to score 12 goals in a season so I think that this trade is very very good i think that savoie gonna do a big inpact on The team this year
