Nurse tripping on Bennett – Have your say!

Darnell Nurse hit Sam Bennett leg on leg. It was reviewed for a major but after a very quick review was finalized as two minutes for tripping. Did they get it right? Have your say!

  1. Its like an oblique kick in fighting, those shots just above the knee are worse then direct contact. Hit was very dirty, hes done it a bunch of times in this series alone. I am an oilers fan fyi

  2. It’s a trip, right call was made. Bennett tried to step out of the way, nurse turned to try to get hip on hip or slow up.

What was remarkable was that Bennett had to crawl across the ice and couldn’t stand. Whatever they did in the room is pure sorcery, he was back in 30 seconds and out for the power play! Either they’re injecting morphine, or taking acting lessons.

  3. Knee on knee, someone has to see it right? Nurse didn't even try to hit him any other way. I'm not a bennett fan either I'm sure he would do the same if he had the chance.

  4. Nurse 2 min for tripping. Bennett 2 min for embellishment.

Show the next part we're Bennett is crawling on one leg, head swivelling around looking for a call, then gets up and skates to the bench. Then back on ice skating full speed.

  5. What do you expect if he tries to side step . Right call was made , did you guys see him on the bench pretended he was injured two seconds later he was back out to funny

  6. Yeah… I'm starting to get suspicious about the Oilers patterns of leading hip checks with their legs.

  7. Players trying to dodge regular hits and somehow making them 8 times worse is the new normal.

See a guy trying to check you into the boards when you have the puck? Turn your back to him and attempt to reverse hit so either he looks weak or you look like you got massacred.
See a guy looking for a hit that you could absorb easily? Make a lunging dodge that basically insures a leg on leg collision.

Honestly can't wait for a decade from now when they start punishing guys who put themselves in dangerous positions to bait calls. Refs need to start taking notice of the regular offenders…

  8. The NHL is going to have to start making a rule that requires you to go into injury protocol if you can't skate off the ice on your own two feet. Bennett crawled off the ice and was back in the game no worse for wear for the next shift after Oilers scored on the PK at '16:49.

  9. it would help if bennett remembered which knee was supposed to be hurt while he was acting his way to the bench

  10. Good lord it’s like watching soccer! I’ve never seen so many fake injury’s in a series, it’s just embarrassing already.

  11. Oilers dirtiest team. Even going after mild mannered Barky ! All with intent to injure. Karma will swing back against you.

  12. Bennett with the acting job. Acts like he is seriously hurt. Goes to the looker and when they call it 2 minutes he miraculously returns.

  13. Hate east-west hits like this. Very hard to track and spot when you're reffing. Clearly a knee. But still, this can be difficult to see on the ice.

  14. As an unbiased fan of neither team, this is pretty clearly a targeted knee strike. Interesting to me that it can be seen any other way. Glad panthers player is good to go. That’s a career wonder for some

  15. It might be possible that it's just karma bro for what Bennett did to Marchand…but boy oh boy, is Sam ever building up a mountain sized pile of karma…bro. He might even meet a Sea Bass or Steve Moore kind of fate.

  16. Firstly it was 100% a trip, nurse skated in a straight line, didnt stick his leg out, and bennet avoided the hit causing the knee on knee.

Secondly bennet is clearly trying to sell it as an injury even uses the wrong leg😂

Thirdly theres no difference between this and bennets knee on knee hit with Bouchard and the refs know that.

IMO it was accidentally on purpose by nurse, the refs know bennets was accidentally on purpose and with foegals knee on knee hit only to have the panther (i forget the name) to come out RIGHT AFTER the call was made were obviously going to let it slide

  17. Nurse led with the shoulder, never altered his leg position and when Bennet tries to slip the shoulder check, the legs connect. This shouldn't even be tripping. If Bennet stays in the lane its a clean hit. How does Bennet avoiding the check turn it into tripping? Nurse doesn't change his position at all. I can easily see a case for no penalty on this hit.

  18. Well that was direct knee to knee contact…my question is: did Nurse give up on checking him or just missed (and the knees collided)? The angle of the contact was a little to the side, but the contact is undeniable. His skates didn't leave the ice like Bennett did in his knee to Bouchard and that was only called a 2 tripping. So 2 mins it is. Should Bennett have got 2 for embellishment? Hard to say…

  19. See here, Nurse is going in with his shoulder out first looking to land a clean check. Bennett kept his leg out wide, and moved out of the way last second, letting his stuck out foot catch Nurse, then Bennett dived for that Embellishment.
Edit: correction, Bennett didn’t dive (for once) on this one, his slew footing left him unbalanced and crashing into Foegle.
