  1. As a Flames fan it seems so weird that we have the most cap space of any team, and yesterday I even saw a poll where we were the most expected team to get 1st overall next yearā€¦

  2. did you make a video on the chychrun trade? i cant believe after letting go a 1st, and two 2nds to get him, they let him go for a guy worse and a 3rd

  3. Calgary will fish with the worst record next season. They should consider doing a rebuild before they find themselves in the same position the Sabres and Ducks have been in. St. Louis would also be wise to start rebuilding.

  4. There are exceptions but it does seem like for the benefit of the player, they probably shouldn't play in the NHL as a teenager. Almost no one is ready for it. Owners and fans don't care though.

The weird thing is the AHL rules. You can't play in the AHL until you're 20, but the NHL doesn't give a damn. "You aren't old enough to play professionally in the minor leagues, but in the best hockey league in the world? No problem!"

  5. Sharks have good pieces now. Celebrini, Smith, and Eklund look like a terrifying top line four or so years down the road, and Blackwood/Vanecek is a good tandem. Defense needs some work but Dickinson will help definitely.

  6. knowing they will not be playoff contender for the next few years, the Flames are wise to weaponize their cap space for next season. The contenders are always in need of salary retaining for their trade targets, and the Flames will become their best partner. Easy way to obtain 2nd and 3rd picks.

  7. Let the Celebrini puns commence! Sharks fans CeleBRATE! He gonna CeleBRINGIT! Okay Iā€™m out.

  8. Shannon hope that you're covering both soccer tournaments right now. I think the other one has a team called CANADA in it. Might be worth checking out.

  9. Man I can't remember the last time I saw the Flames in a position to weaponize their cap space. Conroy has really done a great job in the tear down portion of this and I really hope he uses his cap space to acquire more assets. Craig Conroy has really impressed me so far.

  10. Would be interesting to compare beginning of season power rankings with their offseason results the year after. Did they make the playoffs? Did they win in the playoffs? Did they win their division?

  11. Calgary could get the younger, better Misa brother to go with the older brother as well as his junior teammate in Parekh

  12. Hey Shannan. I have a couple video series suggestions for you if u want.

I think it would be cool to look back at each Stanley cup winner over the years going back as far as you want. Look in over the entire roster, how it was built, and stuff like that.

And it would also be cool to do an updated top 40 forwards, top 30 defensemen, top 15 goalies like you did last year.

And I think it would also be cool to do the same videos but ranking your all time top 40 forwards, top 30 defensemen, and top 15 goaltenders in your time watching hockey.

  13. I can't wait till the power rankings come out. The Pacific will be interesting, because we have two teams competing for first place and three teams that are clearly not trying to make the playoffs this year. One of the three mushy middle teams will make the playoffs and the other two like won't even be Wild Card teams. Personally, my rankings right now are Edmonton, Vancouver, Vegas, LA, Seattle, Calgary, Anaheim, and San Jose.

  14. Cap-space means nothing anymore. Right Tampa? Right Vegas?

How about you Buffalo…all that space and hold your breath waiting for serious talent to beat a path to your door. Love you but I'm not living in Fantasy Land where Cap-space means squat in a league where it can be circumvented so easily and certain teams will either never spend close to the cap or understand there's no point in doing so. Too many teams just "existing" now in Pro Sports.

  15. I'm wondering how reliable Capfriendly and Puckpedia are. Capfriendly currently lists Calgary's cap space at $21.74 million, and Anaheim's cap space at $20.94 million. Puckpedia has Calgary with $20.82 million in cap space, while having Anaheim with $22.64 million in cap space.

  16. As a Flames fan, I am very impressed with what Conroy has done so far. It's refreshing to see that a Flames GM has a long term vision and not trying to make the playoffs no matter what and selling your future away each and every year.

  17. Maybe the Capitals bought CapFriendly to make sure it never went down? Oh, and they can mess with their own numbers, it's their site now.
