[Cushman] Easton Cowan: “I wanna make the team. That’s always been my goal. I wanna play in the NHL one day and I’m feeling very confident. Just gotta come into camp, be a very reliable player and someone coach can trust. I gotta learn game management a bit better and I think I’ll be good”

The issue is that the only roles available are probably in the bottom 6. How is he going to be in that role where he might not get a lot of minutes to show his skill and he is asked to play in a different role?

Also will his minutes in that role be enough for it to not impact development? Minten coulda played last year on the 4th line but it made no sense for his development

He’s good and all, but the biggest thing he needs to do is put on some strength. Given the length of his offseason, that’s just not feasible. He played right up to the memorial cup, and now he has to gear up for team Canada and then he has a prospect tournament in September. If he had several months to just work out and put on mass I’d say he’d be a lock for the NHL, but he just has too much going on

Game management isn’t your duty, Easton, it’s the refs, unfortunately.
