NGL I like it
MacClellan cooked this offseason then mic dropped
Sure, man….as long as they keep doing what they’re doing, I’m good with the shakeup. LFG.
GMBM went out on a high note retooling so we can lock and load and try to remain competitive before blowing it up when Ovi retires. I know he’s been criticized a lot but GMBM did some great things for this organization and ultimately his legacy will be our first ever Stanley Cup.
GMCP (boy, that feels weird to say/type) has some big shoes to fill, but I’m excited to see where things go from here. The dawn of a new era is upon us, Caps fans!
But GMBM rolls off the tongue so well..
GMCP? No ring to it but hopefully the move works out
Gotta love nepotism.
I assume this is BM getting towards retirement, don’t think the org has any reason to move on from him.
Can someone explain to me what president of hockey operations is and how it’s different from GM? My understanding is that the GM (and staff) sets out the near, medium, and long-term direction for the team, (ie win now, fire sale, retool on the fly) hunts for the players / coaches to execute that, and negotiates those contracts.
Hockey operations…what’s that?
President- Immune from official acts and can have Corey Perry pardoned?
My only thought is why isnt it Mahoney? Could be he didn’t want it and is happy being in charge of scouting and development and he’s also older, but that was my initial reaction.
I have no idea but I see this as BMac wanting to step back a bit towards eventual retirement. Inevitable to happen at some point.
This feels like a promotion to keep from losing him to another team.
God Leonsis loves owning a team that rocks with nepotism. First the Mystics now this.
Gotta love the GM taking a shitload of super risky moves and then immediately putting someone else in the role to manage the fallout if it doesn’t work out for the team. If PLD doesn’t work out, this GM is gonna be so cooked by like 2027. His slight Ottawa Senators type beat vibes.
