In the office at work and I scroll through twitter and I see another tweet about the us being in on Vatrano. I’ll admit this twitter account seems a little plugged in, but I still won’t believe it until I see it 🤷🏻. Just trying to bring some excitement to the board 😂

This account is probably the most “creditable”. He has been linked to some legitimate breaks so at least he has that going for him.
He replied to a comment saying the return for Zegras would probably involve Cirelli which doesn’t make sense from a team standpoint, even if Vatrano is included in the package.
It’s all coming from this same guy and nothing he’s posted has been or can be proven true.
Vatrano is a player I’ve personally thought would be a good fit here since the was a free agent in 2022, but do we really think, knowing how JBB and Verbeek are as GMs, that if there were trade talks *anyone* would know about them, nevermind this random guy? I mean these are two of the least leaky front offices in the league and we think this random Twitter account is the one to get the scoop rather than Friedman or Seravalli or anyone with any legitimacy?
I like Zegras, but I don’t want to lose Cirelli. They actually could complement each other’s speed, and Zegras could learn to be a better two-way player like Cirelli.

Vatrano makes sense. I call BS on Zegras though. He just isn’t the kind of player that the team usually looks for. JBB likes older, reliable vets. In the event we go after someone younger, it’s almost always a guy with some two way game and forechecking ability. Just don’t see Zegras fitting

I don’t know if both even makes sense from a cap POV. How are we paying Vatrano after this year and Zegras after 2 more years? Both are due for raises assuming Zegras continues to improve.
I think zegras could be a really great addition to our offense but the pieces we’d have to give up to get him would make it a lateral move at best. He also just doesn’t seem like the type of guy JBB would go after.
