You need big players to wear down teams in the playoffs. Xhekaj, Thorpe and Tuch could be players in the bottom 6
I think that Hugo will still make a trade for top six forward and a defensemen will be part of that trade.
Dvorak could have a break out year after taking the time to heal and train… and might be an amazing 3rd line centre.
Thorpe impressed me at the scrimmage. very physical and gets involved in the play every time he was on the ice
IF!!! They can turn some of those players into some serious picks and or one… 2nd line right winger. We will be set next year with Demidov coming.
2nd line Demidov, Dach & ?
That article on Mailloux was awful. Looked like a hit job. Conclusion might be correct but the author said bad thing about Mailloux like saying he had an awful season last year which was obviously wrong.
Tyler Thorpe was very impressive in the white VS red game. He was definitly the best surprise for me
You guys LOVE the word sneaky..
Roy was Bedard linemate on Canada team.. he as the potential to start the season on the second line
Never know
Glaze
"Elevates his arm to put his full body weight behind the net" what ever the hell that means, it must be good !!!
Ah July, where every Habs draftees, prospects, fringe players is the second coming of whoever and all the players will be NHL contributors.
Putting Hutson over Mailloux is insane, even more if you consider the position they're playing. Even if Hutson is a great player, Mailloux deserve it more.
I don’t like barron
The problem with this year is that thete are too many NHL contracts.
Unless we trade away Dmen, thete is physically no room for Mailloux or Hutson without injuries.
It is NOT a talent thing.
It is asset management.
Reinbacher will play top 4 mins in Mtl next year. Look at guys like Korchinski, Jiricek and mintyukov. They all played top 4 mins in their draft plus two year. Except Jiricek but he at least played in Columbus.
This will keep Mailloux in the AHL
Logan Mailloux has zero hockey sense.
RHP is a waste of a contract. Would never be on a contender and is pointless in playoff hockey. Roy is 3rd liner at best.
Jesse SUPER solid point!!!! R backer and Logan. …..will be in the trees ready to pounce …. If not traded….he starts the season. I think Harris is moving… wonderful soul. Great player…we have 2 much LD…..who say you!?!? Who would you pick JP?Hahaha really enjoy you guys!!! Wonderful well though questions….I appreciate you all.
Having attended the scrimmage last Friday, Thorpe was definitely a top 3 standout. Moves really well for a big guy and has a great shot. If he can make it, that will be an awesome pick.
Thanks for using my tweets on Thorpe.
Hoping there’s going to be some trades to clear out some bodies
Thx for sticking up for Roy guys. Cheers
I believe (certainly hope anyway) that Kovacevic was traded to make room for Reinbacher & Mailloux to split the season in the AHL and NHL. Give them both a minimum of 41 games in the NHL next year. The Habs should do the same with Roy & Beck too!! i.e. the issue is that they have way too many rookies and they need to start getting NHL experience ASAP so they are no longer rookies the year after. If they plan to make the playoffs in 2026 those guys need experience in the upcoming season.
Barron est pourri défensivement. Il joue sur le bout de la palette et se débarrasse de la rondelle s’il pense qu’il subira une mise en échec. Il ne suit jamais son homme.
Wow Josh ! The only thing Barron has proved is that he's a liability on defense. He didn't learn a thing in Laval. Mailbox is by far a better bet. Use Barron as part of a package in a trade before waivers.
Thorpe looked great at development camp. In a few years, teams will be kicking themselves for passing by him in the draft.
Why would Habs protect Barron only to have him sit in the stands? That would result in a young "D" playing in Laval who played well for Habs last year. Therefore two players mucked about. Either put Barron on waivers or play him. If he stays the decision can be made prior to trade deadline whether to keep him or let him go.
Il est moins 3 l’an passé et moins 8 en carrière. On a pas besoin d’un défenseur « offensif » qui est toujours dans le moins.
Reinbacher and mailleaux should startvin Laval but she be first callups for injuries. Both could use?some mentoring from david savard before he is traded at the deadline. Hopefully both of them will get 20+ games with the habs next season
Easy trade Matheson a RD spot opens up with Ghule shifting back to LD
I don’t want another season of Ghule being the only guy playing D on that pairing while Matheson leaves him out to dry
I’m not ready to quit on Barron.. he’s one of the youngest guys back there.. skating is very good.. shot is good.. size is good. If he comes in the season with confidence, he can hit his stride. Futur D Mailloux-Ghule, Reinbacher-Hutson, Xjehkai-Barron. It wouldn’t be bad at all. The Defenceman we should be shopping is Matheson.
The next two years will be vital and will unveil what kind of team the Habs will be in the future. KH singed everyone who potentially had a chance of becoming good. I foresee massive curs in the roster, it can not go on like this.
I'd say another trade(s) occur before the season starts to move out surplus "mid" players as younger guys vie for starting jobs.
Thorpe, F Xhekaj, A Xhekaj = Bash Bros line
Habs will likely make Reinbacher/Mailloux and Barron the right side long term. Savard is good but his market value could shrink so let the kids play and get a decent return. Its about getting the most out of aging assets. Barron can play that #4 Dman spot if Mailloux or Reinbacher stumble. He's the more experienced player that will take the defense role if those rookies need more time to adapt but in the end the talent chain will end up Reinbacher and Mailloux leaping Barron long term. If he doesnt like it he will get traded at that point for a depth Dman…if he adapts he'll complete the right side defense depth
Mailloux ranked 3rd in AHL defenseman, he's freshly ready but depends on what moves transpire before October…or don't. Roy doesn't only have point production potential buy good defensive stick positioning and disrupts the opponents rushes nicely, covers his areas well defensively. Thorpe, has the shot and scoring ability. Some profiles 6'4, some 6'5…he's still growing and will thicken. As for his skating, he's still growing and getting used to his size. Physical and seen some compliment his agility for his size. His weaknesses are workable. Key for Habs drafting him was his massive progression in this past season from the one before. He got basically an equal amount of helpers as goals. He has that, the rest is workable/stuff you can teach. Thorpe was ranked higher than Sawyer. Sawyer was a reach for some reason, someone in scouting really liked something about him.
I agree sort of lol …..Can't loose Barron for nothing as he's still considered an asset. So unfortunately Mailloux to start in Laval until we can get a trade done for Barron and Harris. Gotta make room for Hutson and Logan.
honestly i’m kind off done with anderson.. i’m taking Roy any day before him.
It wil all l come down to really earning a seat for the young D prospects. Roy will be in the line up for sure this year.
I know you like to cover habs daily news so here's a small news bit for you:
Defenseman Dmitri Kostenko was traded from Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk of the VHL to Spartak Moscow of the KHL. (July 5)
