This is spot on for Lou the past 10-12 years. He never tanks and will always try to be competitive, even if it means being stuck in purgatory as far as the standings go.

This team has everything except youth. You want to win a cup you need a healthy mix of wiley vets, journrymen and up-and-comers. Honestly, our only hope is that some of our farm guys like Maggio are the real deal and get plugged in (which they wont) where they need to me. McLean was a welcome surprise.

All fair but it’s weird how there are about 10-15 teams in the NHL in the exact same position as being too good to tank, too bad to win a Cup, and you hear this said about the Isles more than any other team

The good news is neither pit nor was saw the writing on the wall and rebuilt. And the canes and rangers didnt get better but they are still deeper than us.
Columbus is still columbus so that leaves the devs and flyers as our mediocrity competition for a bit

I would have liked to rebuild, but it is what it is at this point.
If we miss the playoffs, hopefully we finish bottom 11 so we get a shot at Hagens.

There seems to be a group of fans across all teams that would rather a team miss the playoffs for years for a chance at a number #1 overall. As a fan since the 80s having the team in the playoffs is amazing compared to all those years where we were ‘rebuilding’.
