  1. 5 years of watching how Dubas did things we are still talking like "this is what will happen with this player." I thought Knies should have spent the season in the AHL but Treliving kept him up and you know he isn't happy with this teams offence so don't be surprised if Cowan and Holinka are eventually put in the line-up this year.
Holinka in the line-up now? Can't do any worse than Jarnkrok. I don't think the lines will be the way you have it. I watched a lot of Jr games this year and Minten looks like a career 4th liner who is up and down a lot.

  2. I really like the Leaf's scouts, they're showing how forward looking they are in identifying future NHLers out of even late rounders!!

  3. It's a big step up from the OHL to the NHL. Having watched Cowan in dev camp, then Traverse City & finally main camp last year, no surprise that he was the last cut from Leaf camp. To his credit, he took that experience & turned it into an MVP regular season with London. He took it up another level in the OHL playoffs & won the playoff MVP. He was also the leading point guy at the Mem Cup. Impressive. Can he now impress Berube? It would not surprise me if he did.

He & Minten were the best players at this dev camp. Period. Wichenheiser said they were "very close" to making the Leafs. Cowan said he's now 6' tall & was approaching 190 lbs. I do not regard him as an undersized forward at this point. Barring injury, I think he'll get a 9 game test drive with the Leafs. We'll find out this fall.
