  1. Shanny signed Pridham last year so he’s untouchable for 2 more years. Will Dubas last that long in Pittsburg?

  2. 93joecarter

I thought he was offered jobs elsewhere and stayed mostly because his family. Could be wrong. Seems like the type of employee that survives multiple regime changes by their own choice.

They can have him. What has he done for us? We’re in Core Four Cap Hell.

  4. Oh no, not the guy that gets bent over in every contract negotiation.

Apparently he’s a cap genius because he gets us within 20K of the cap. Meanwhile we play games down a skater/goalie until we can use an ECU or EBUG.

I’m not saying he’s bad at his job, but it’s not like we’re losing the Theo Epstein of hockey. We have 1 playoff win since he’s been here 5-10 years ago. How big of an impact is he really making either good or bad?

The Maple Leafs have won 1 playoff series in 2 decades. Why do we care if executives leave?

I’m not gonna lie, I feel like Pridham is insanely overrated. Like what has he actually done? For years, people just go back to “oh he helped write the CBA?”, but like…so what? Over the last few years, what has he actually brought to the table with the Leafs?

I don’t know why Pridham gets a pass when everyone else in management, coaching and personnel gets criticized for the teams failures.

Here’s another example of Leaf fans dramatically overreacting to someone leaving the organization who has won absolutely nothing. Same thing happened when the boy wonder got fired.

News flash: the Leafs haven’t won shit. They haven’t even been close. Why people feel like ANYONE in this organization is irreplaceable is completely beyond me.

It’s funny how dubas is trying to “run it back” with his management group. The same group that failed miserably despite inheriting some of the best young forward talent in the league in Matthews and Marner, a franchise centreman in his prime falling into their lap in JT, and an already ~100 pt team, a luxury they won’t have in shittsburg.

  9. He already tried to take Pridham. He declined to go.

  10. I’d rather lose him than the head of scouting

  11. Doesn’t Pridham predate Dubas? I thought he was a Shanny hire.

  12. Quiet_Nectariney

Only fanbase to complain about losing staff for a team that wins absolutely nothing.

  13. shanster925

Maybe the Leafs and Penguins will swap playoff performances now.

  14. RestartNick

I swear, if the Penguins win a playoff series before Leafs wins their next one

He’s valuable, but what would be worth a hell of a lot more… management that stops signing handbag collectors for too much money. That would be much more useful!

  16. Wes leaving has made me re-evaluating what I think of Pridham as a capologist.

Presumably, Pridham either devised or signed off on the plan to allocate 40-50% of the cap to the core four. That strategy (regardless of the pandemic) has failed miserably.

The players are great. The team is good in the regular season. Their cap situation is disastrous. Other team’s four biggest contracts, in addition to all their dead cap space (buyouts, bonus overages, retentions etc) still don’t come close to the Leafs top 4 $ this year.

Having written the cap guidelines, yes, he knows the ins and outs of the cap. But, does that necessarily make him an expert on how to best allocate $ and give the team the best chance to win it all.

  17. Morale was on The JD Bunkisnshow and mentioned that he heard that Pridham has no interest in leaving TO.

    Also, Bunkis is insufferable.
