  1. Paying Sean Monahan exactly what he is worth in free agency isn’t bad value in any way, even a slight overpay wouldn’t be.

    Hyman has indeed one of the best value contract in the NHL, but comparing it to recently signed fair value contracts doesn’t make them bad. Imagine comparing every Super Star contracts to Draisatl’s expiring one, it wouldn’t make sense.

    That being said, i do agree that CBJ are taking a big risk by giving him 5 years, due to his injury history, but hey i guess this is why they won his signature.
