Courtney Dauwalter – World’s Best Female Ultramarathon Runner | Keep Hammering | Ep. 015

Courtney Dauwalter, is considered the world’s best female ultramarathon runner. She might just be the greatest ultrarunner of all time, period. To me, in some ways I see her infectious smile and cheerful personality as a smokescreen, because Courtney’s unrelenting drive to push the limits of human endurance potential in the mountains, belies these fun, welcoming characteristics. Behind the smile and the kindness on a personal level, beats the heart of an absolute and fierce competitor. If Courtney comes off as a lamb, I pity the wolf that hunts her.

  1. She's been such an inspiration of mine!!! From 325 pounds to 6 100 Mile buckles. And now I'm officially an entrant in the 2023 Moab 240 Mile endurance race. Was just a dream 2 years ago I couldn't run a mile. Now 15 a day is reasonable. Through hard work dedication and cutting off everything in your life except the task at hand and setting your emotion to the side. Then the world becomes your playground.

  2. The both of you are so fucking inspiring. At age 51 with a new knee replacement I am ready to go The extra mile. You book cam , is inspiring, Courtney your smile is infectious. Thank you both for pushing me to reach my best and just enjoying the bitter sweet ride in life. Whether having a bad day or good. Just do it. Go one more. Work harder no one cares and find your pain cave. Have a great day

  3. Cam and Courtney are an inspiration to be the best version of yourself. Thanks guys 👊

  4. how do you problem solve as she says, pulling something mid run? Or do you just run through it even when injured? is that what shes talking about

  5. Thanks for this wonderful conversation, so many insights from two great living examples 🙏

  6. Its kind of irritating how nice and humble Courtney is. Its so humble it almost comes out as not real.

  7. As a fairly new runner I started in 2019 never ran at any level listening to 2 accomplished runners talk about running is just incredible. I appreciate the insight to the mental part of it and hearing them talk about the stuff I think about and go through is really cool.

  8. Courtney is 1 win away from the goal you set her cam if she does it she must come back on

  9. Hey Cam, big fan….blocked on Insta some years ago I was presuming at the time to a light hearted take on Colby…miss the inspiration to be honest but enjoy the YouTube for now stay hammerin

  10. This is a great interview. Cameron not only asks the right questions, from the perspective of a bona-fide endurance runner. He also digs into some interesting details. Courtney is fascinating, and it's nice learning what makes her so great.

  11. I love how this takes place before Western States 100 and Hardrock 100 and asks "hypothetically, would winning Western and then hardrock in the same summer make you happy". And that's what ends up happening

  12. Of All the ultra athletes I’ve listened to, Courtney is an Amazing example and inspiration for young athletes❤

  13. Insane that they talk about "Theoretically, you win Hard Rock, you win Western States, is it possible for someone to win UTMB after that?"
Of course, Courtney says YES! what an absolute boss.

  14. At my first hearing of this episode I missed your own set goal Cameron for Courtney to win Western States 100, Hardrock 100 and UTMB in one summer 🔥
And Courtney the Queen of trail running did it 💪💪💪 She‘s unreal dude 🔥🔥🔥 magnificent 🙇‍♂️ She completed it and I‘m pretty sure Courtney wouldn’t brag about it like she behave in this interview 🙏 I think that is because Courtney knows that everybody is capable of it and so in her mind she is nothing special in that regard 😁 For me Courtney is really a big role model how to approach life in general 🔥🔥🔥 Thank you for making this interview Cameron 🔥🔥🔥

  15. What a great episode! Both of these humans are true inspirations. Cam is a great host. He not only asks quality questions but he really listens. He doesn’t just say ya ya ya. It makes a huge difference in quality. Great job guys!

  16. Listening to this interview for the 1st time today 9 months after it was posted.
Realizing that this conversation manifested quite possibly the most epic championship season in all of sports history. Mind Blown!!!

  17. Cam and Court!!! I have no plans of becoming an ultra runner, but love what you both share! You are both inspire me to DO better in the dark, because nobody cares! Thanks for a great conversation!

  18. One of my all time heroes. Hands down. If i dont think i can do something, i refer back to her and say bullshit. I can do this long ass run. She's amazing.
