Nichushkin News. Teams We Wouldn’t Want to Be Traded To. Towes & Wood Season Grades

Any new involving Val Nichushkin will immediately become big news in Avalanche circles these days, and that holds true when part two of a Russian series involving the Colorado Avalanche forward was released over the weekend. Evan Rawal from Colorado Hockey Now had part of it translated in which Val talks about the injury and hotel incident during the Seattle series.

We also discuss our own personal no trade list. Which NHL teams would we have on our contract that we would veto a trade?

Finally, we finish off our season grades with Devon Toews and Miles Wood.

  1. If i had to pick 5 teams to not go to i think id pick…
5.) Detroit (because you cant have anything) if you catch my drift *wink *wink
4.) Kings i was in LAX once…dirtiest ive ever felt.
3.) Minnesota. All they're teams have bad luck up there.
    2.) leafs
Now this is where im a bit more serious though as
I picked them because of the pressure.
    1.) Canucks
canucks are number one because sure, i understand losing in the finals and being upset. But burning parts of your city down?! And along with other "interesting" things they do, win or lose. I wouldn't want to be associated with THAT.

  2. My no-trade list:

    1. Detroit – Who wants to live there? And also, we still HATE that team.
    2. Columbus – Completely irrelevant franchise
    3. Minnesota – I hate them, obviously
    4. Edmonton – I hate them, obviously
    5. Ottawa – Another completely irrelevant franchise
    6. Philadelphia – No thanks on playing for those fans
    7. Toronto – No thanks on playing with all of that pressure. Those fans are psycho
    8. Chicago – Who wants to live in that crime-ridden city? Plus, I hate them.
    9. Dallas – Ugly, ugly uniforms and all once again…we hate them
    10. Florida – Besides these last 2 seasons, they have been irrelevant for their entire existence and they will go back to that within the next 5 years or so.

  3. When not knowing the truth why does everyone (Avs nation in particular) choose rumors over the man himself opening up about it. Why automatically assume hes lying?

Also Kyle about the shoulder injury, injuries are never disclosed because if they were, everyone we played would be late hitting and cheap shotting that part of the body.

  4. 1.LV- Trashiest team in the league
    2. Dallas- I've hated them since '98 and even more so after living in Texas
    3. Detroit- Old hatreds die hard
    4. Florida- Because they're trashy
    5. Columbus- Because it's Ohio
    6. Toronto-1967
    7. Every team in the central besides Chicago
    8. Calgary- Where dreams go to die
    9. Any team in Commiefornia
    10. Seattle- Because their jerseys were designed by a Walgreens employee

  5. I think we sometimes freak out that someone will walk (Toews) but then they lock him up and you’re so happy about it and then immediately start to take him for granted

  6. My 5 no-trade list, bonus one.

5 – Knights, mostly how they treat players. Example Fleury, when the owner told him he would retire as a Knight then he basically gave him away to Chicago. Using Stone by LTIR to sign players. How they manipulate the cap.
4 – Dallas don't like the jerseys and the way their fans yell 'Stars' during the national anthem.
3 – Oilers, because of the players, they sign Kane, Perry, and how great McDavid and Draisaitl are all the time.
2 – Lightning, fans cry to this day about 2022.
1- Boston – When fans are in Colorado for the game, the fans are obnoxious.
    I could list one more.
Toronto- The fans are obnoxious, and jerseys are ugly. Their players are their for the money and could less about the playoffs. The relationship players have with Justin Bieber is weird.
    Thats my list.

  7. I love nichuschkins talent level, I love his size ( the avs are a small team, and this is a glaring problem) but I am seriously concerned about his commitment level. I wouldn't blame the avs if they tried to see what they could get for him.

  8. Why does everyone think Vegas weather or our current Denver weather is "nice"? It's too damn Hot and you know it:)

  9. I'll take Colorado 20 over Vegas 120 any time; to be fair we can hit 100 here in summer. One does have the option to stay in a Casino and get free drinks though…

  10. I believe this Val interview. Of course he didn’t want to speak out about the girl incident… it would require throwing his friends under the bus. I’ve suspected the injury for awhile now. Both times we’ve known about him entering the players assistance program, I watched him play the preceding game and thought he had the face of everyone I know who’s been addicted to painkillers. Players and organizations always try to hide injuries – look at that doc about McDavid years ago… they mentioned how hard it was to keep it under cover. And partying with an injury… I watched a hockey player slash an artery on his ankle, staple it himself, and head straight out to the bars. Sn injury won’t slow down an addict. Finally, this makes so much more sense that McFarland even recently said they want him back. They are all brothers who went to war and one of them came out with physical ptsd. What kind of team would just say screw you and kick him to the curb? This all makes total sense but now the problem is almost bigger – playing will most likely lead to injury, which will most likely lead to painkillers. Idk how he can ever play consistently without relapsing again:(

  11. I’m in the “Val has torpedoed my trust” camp and this blurb contradicts itself enough that I don’t believe most of it. I can get behind the claim of the shoulder injury but if they knew he wasn’t playing, why fly him to Seattle? That’s weird to me. Can’t sleep, went out and partied, still no real clarity but you feel like bringing it up in a podcast for some reason? Come on, guy. It’s all just still very bizarre but the claims he’s making don’t exactly hang together well.

Whatever. I hope we can get a good return for him in a trade or something.

  12. Val's statement is puzzling because he played the first two games against Seattle, even scored a goal in one of them. So if his shoulder was bothering him so much the team knew he wasn't going to play the first round, why did he play two games of the first round…? Perhaps something is lost in translation here.

  13. Val needs to be shipped out asap waste of money. Always is screwing the team over. Dont like the guy never will. Two seasons you screwed us, time to move on. Your a supposed professional go play in the khl again.

  14. I'm kinda surprised no one has put Winnipeg down just due to the winters there, and being a Canadian city. I wouldn't be keen on Minnesota either.

Love Toews and the priority the team gave to keeping him. He gets an A from me. Since joining the Avs his +/- is 148, which leads the league over those 4 years by a lot. Second over that time was Gustav Forsling with a +133 (who was +56 last year alone), and then Matthew Tkachuk with +111. His few mistakes just remind us he's human.

  15. I had injections in my shoulder a few weeks ago…I havent had any drunk Russian girls in my hotel room or any other side effects.

  16. Who is gonna want Val? Would you seriously trade FOR him? End his contract and send him packing. There's nothing we can get for him.
