The New Jersey Devils SIGN Travis Zajac To A 1 Day Contract To RETIRE A NJ Devil!



The New Jersey Devils announced today that they Signed Long Time NJ Devil Travis Zajac to A 1 day contract so he can retire a NJ Devil. There was several teams interested in Zajac notably the Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders, and The New Jersey Devils, but Zajac knew it was his time to call it a career.
Zajac played for the Devils and Islanders and was well loved and appreciated by fans, teammates, and management as he was a great NHL player who played the game hard and right. Zajac will remain with the Devils in an role to help the youth and up and coming prospects such as Jack Hughes, Alexander Holtz, Dawson Mercer, Nolan Foote, Jesper Boqvist to name a few and provide that veteran experience to help these players grow into nhl professionals.

  1. Zajac doesn't say much but, I don't think any former player has ever said more heart-felt things about New Jersey and being proud to fly the flag and what it means to be a Devil, and the state itself. They need to retire his jersey.

  2. I wore his jersey on dozens of occasions in multiple arenas. When a game was on the line over the years, I would be happy to see Zajac in the face off circle. He was a true gentleman and a real winner!

  3. I am thankful he is being retained in a consulting role. I really felt he was instrumental with Sharangovich & Kuokkanen having the season that they did last year. There are a couple of prospects on the cusp of making the team and his guidance and sage like advise could be invaluable. Kind of like how Sarge has been helping the team the last couple of years. Bitter sweet to see his career come to an end but completely understandable.
