  1. Watching Treliving already making the same kind of moves in toronto as he did in his last few seaeons in calgary is borderline hilarious.

  2. my first game was in the 06-07 season december 27 2006 6-5 canucks win IGGY VS NAZZY the flames nucks rivarly was fun

  3. as a flames fan since i was a kid in the 90s this team is cooked at the moment. We had just done a rebuild and then it all fell apart with Johnny and Tkachuck leaving. And what we got back has not panned out at all. I feel this year could see us hit rock bottom of the league which makes me feel i may not see my team in a cup final again until i am in my late 40s or 50s. What we need is to find some guys who want to play in calgary long term whom are not albatross contracts like Huby has or kadri. The kid we drafted this year Parkeh could be great and i hope he is but thats only one piece of the puzzle conroy has to try and fit together. My hope is we bring in Iginla in some sort of player development role it has worked for other teams in the NHL.

  4. i feel like the team rebuilds keep getting longer and longer and at some point, its gonna take a whole players career and the team will be good in 1 of them…the rest is all rebuild years

  5. When I look at who they have lost, and who is still there, then I can't wrap my mind around how they missed the playoffs last season.

  6. Huberdeaus gonna get 115+ points
    We make ploffs
We go on a crazy run
Take whatever draft pick we get
We’re gonna get super lucky with our draft pick and then the next year we shit the bed and get Mckenna.

  7. As a Flames fan I feel the final piece signifying a full rebuild was the Markstrom trade. If they wanted to compete I feel they’d have gotten rid of Vladar to free up room for wolf rather than move Markstrom.

Either way, it’s in our best interest to finish in the bottom 10. If we don’t, we give our first round pick to Montreal.

  8. What's the difference between a 're-tool' and a 're-build'? The difference is the terminology so that people don't cancel their season tickets lol – but it's the exact same thing!

  9. They should do a full rebuild from the ground up.

You could easily move the kadri and weegar contracts for good returns

Pick up marner and a 1st from Toronto, would probably cost weegar and a 2 way forward.

Ship out marner with 50% retained at the deadline for another 1st+, probably going to Winnipeg in exchange for ehlers and a first.

Coleman will be a good value for western teams (looking at Dallas, LA, and Colorado) likely fetches a mid prospect like Christian Kyrou.

Anaheim is stockpiling top 2 defenders like it is going out of style so could work out something like a forward for a dman.

Up another 2 first rounders and a couple prospects while still having some veterans around for support. 4 years to be relevant if they do it right, a lot longer if not.

  10. It's nice to actually be in a rebuild. In the past our management has never fully committed to one. Now that might still happen but let's hope not.

  11. If they trade Kadri, they won't retain, that wouldn't be productive for the future.
I think the next traded will be Andersson.

  12. At a certain point, goalie height doesn't matter, unless they're laying down on the ice. Athleticism, positional play, reflexes, anticipation, and the will to compete matter a lot more than size. Otherwise, Fedotov wins the Vezina next season. Richard "King" Brodeur dragged the Canucks to the Finals vs the Islanders and he was only 5'7". The Islanders goalie he faced, Billy "Killer" Smith was only 5'10", but I'm pretty sure nobody called him short to his face. Many of the best NHL goalies have been 6' or shorter

  13. Man I do not understand the exodus from CGY. I get that some were trying to get away from a former coach, but it continued…

  14. I have on very good authority (like top-top level authority) that ownership anticipates a 5-year rebuild. Great timing, Flames! Just when you're still trying to sell taxpayers on a massive new stadium/entertainment district!

I hope that's not the case — and I REALLY hope they don't move Kadri. Age/style-of-play issues aside, he was the best forward (after Coleman) last season and his influence on Zary and Pospisil is undeniable. Getting rid of someone who's so effective with young talent, at a time when there's a whole bunch of young talent coming in, would be absurd if you're trying to build a winning culture.

  15. The Flames will finish 20th overall and get a #10-12 draft pick, which will probably not be of any real benefit to the team, and continue to be mediocre for another decade. And I will keep watching and hoping and being disappointed.

The life of a Flames fan.

  16. Trade laine and a first round pick to flames for future considerations. As a flames fan id eat that bad contract for 2 years for a first round pick
