Since 2007, been watching hockey, loving the Flames.
I admit, I was satisfied when Edmonton was at the bottom of the standings from 2010-2016 (even though weāve missed the playoffs plenty of times during that span). Now I feel the tables have turned and now we might be at the bottom looking up in disdain at our rivals potentially prosperingā¦
Look, I want to say Iām glad the Flames are taking the necessary steps in rebuilding the roster after so many years of mediocrity.
But Iām also sensitive and take it [sometimes too personal] the shade/trolling from rival fanbases because of our inevitability of being at the bottom of the standings for a while (Iām looking at you DolynnyTV š”š¤¬: https://youtu.be/Gk1XLaw6C3c?si=BtFDnUZy6m-iqLYh)
I guess I want advice from other fellow flames fans in terms of how to handle verbal jabs from other non-flames fans?
TMI I just took a scene from Game of Thrones of Cersei being publicly humiliated as an analogy for our Flames fanbase right nowā¦

Edmonton has had numerous 1oA picks allowing them to get generational talent and has made it to the SCF once since 2010. They are wasting McDrais career.
Vancouver has never won a cup.
Itās easy to chirp other fan bases but you have to be ready to get chirped back yourself. If you donāt think you can handle it, might not want to visit sites that will shit on your team
If this team has taught me anything it’s not to chirp rival teams/fans because other than a couple of division wins and a trip to the final on a Cinderella run 20 years ago this team has given me nothing to cheer for or chirp about lol. If a fan of another team wants to actually talk about the sport I’m all for it, but I can’t even be bothered engaging if someone gets chirpy lol.
Uh go fuck yerself, buddy!
If youāre sensitive then I wouldnāt visit other subs or start any chirping. But itās easy to chirp them back because Vancouver has never won anything and has burned their city twice, and Edmonton averaged a 6th overall pick for a decade with 2 generational talents and the sum of these efforts is absolutely nothing
Just be happy youāre not squandering a generational goal scorer with repeated first round exits :ā(
Oilers were the armpit of the NHL for the better part of a decade and it took them getting a generational talent to even become relevant again their other 3 firsts became a solid second line center, the biggest bust in recent NHL history, and Taylor Hall…I liked Taylor Hall. Their last cup win was 1 year after our last, and IMO if you werent alive or a fan of the team when they won, you cant claim cups won beforehand (most of them werent) They are wasting McDrais careers, and this offseason they, a team who no one ever thinks has a problem scoring, a team with very bad defense and spotty goaltending, went out and got more forwards to make them better…..wut.
Canucks never won a cup, but im actually happy they are good again with alot of drafted talent. Its funner when we are all good.
Toronto now has Brad Trevling, the guy who is responsible for where we are now in not signing talent when they wanted long term deals, and signing Huby to the worst contract in the league. They will still lose to Boston in round 1 next year playoffs and aren’t a serious Stanley Cup contender until they (like the Coilers) get better defense and goaltending which they wont do because like the neighbors to the north they think its all offense offense offense.
I love chirping other fan bases, its part of the game, but you cant get mad when someone chirps you as a Flames fan. We are going to suck for a while, they will chirp, we can chirp back, it is okay and part of the game, one of the best parts. Get thicker skin, chirp back, remember its all in good fun, and if someone is actually getting serious about it, laugh and move on with your day, its either the internet keyboard warriors who no one cares about, or in person a confrontation that isnt worth your time and mental health.
Go Flames Go
Dude this is so softš¤¦āāļø
OP, I prescribe for you some lemonade and bug spray so you can sit outside on a patio with a friend and discuss whether you believe bigfoot is a real physical entity, a spiritual being, or purely mythological hogwash. Classic offseason summer stuff, instead of all this dwelling on other fanbases.
