I think if the Leafs can get JT for 3.5 Mill * 2 = 7 mill it would be good. Also, he will need to know his role will be different (probably winger and no longer the captain). I know that he can get more than 3.5 on the open market, but we need to change the dynamics of this team which requires new **good** players that will cost money.

Look at the money Stamkos just got and is a year older. JT is not signing for 3.5m. expect 6 or slightly north on a 3 year deal. I guarantee it. Having said that, it might not be on the Leafs.

If it’s me, i’m cutting ties altogether. He’s not the right fit for this team no matter the cost. We need younger, faster and better for our top six. And way more aggressive.
