The pride of Smithers! Love to see the highlights. I always picked him in my hockey pools, never got a ton of points, but you can’t not pick a hometown kid.

I can’t think of any other defenceman who played/plays with the Canucks who I felt more comfortable with on the ice in all situations. He was just so calm and played a mistake-free game, while not being (as evidenced here) an offensive blackhole.

The hype when we signed him was real. Bc boy coming home

I was at the Calgary game when he scored the 7th goal. I had been living there of a few years and my dad came out from BC to surprise me on my birthday with tickets to the game. We were in the lower bowl in the corner and by the time that goal was scored, almost all the flames fans had left. It was mostly only Canucks fans and there were a lot of us just going nuts. That was a fun night.
