Why trade Robertson for another similar smaller prospect player?
Ilya Mikheyev took the same action. He wanted to leave. In the end, he left despite the Leafs' best efforts to make it work.

I'm of 2 minds on this. On the one hand, you want to get the best deal possible for any trade, so sure, trade him to Vegas and get the best return you can. On the other, he's gone public wanting a trade, and I'm not big on caving to that whiney behaviour, so trade him to San Jose or Columbus and let him have fun there.
Keefe is out, so I don't understand the motivation for this trade request. Berube will probably give everyone a clean slate, and with the lack of scoring depth this would be the year for Robertson to prove himself to the new coach. He was in the doghouse because his defensive game isn't great. But instead of working hard on that this offseason he did the "trade me" route, which is not the smartest move. Get rid of him.

Let's just trade him to Dallas to be with his brother… Mavrik Bourque would be great to get back in exchange. Right shot center, a bit small like Robertson, but plays center and is fiesty.
