Defense still scares me a bit hopefully i’m wrong tho and edvinsson carries the second pair. Chiarot wasn’t that bad last year either.

Ok I’ll elaborate since just saying no wasn’t good enough. I assume the question was this season.

I misread the question. I think the team will take another step forward this season and definitely challenge for a spot in the playoffs.

I’m not sure how far they will advance but I’m very excited to see what happens this season.

according to Steve Yzerman don’t expect the playoffs just expect “improvement”

To be honest I see us taking a slight step back next year

It’s definitely possible, especiallyif Talbot is close to what he was last year and/or if Edvinsson is legit. However I don’t think it’s likely as long as Petry is our second best RHD. We really need to shore that up.

Petry on our second pairing is something I hope Yzerman is working on/somebody internally breaks out so that’s not what we’re working with…

Banking on Johansson showing out in camp/preseason. Wish there was a way Petry could be dropped to the 3rd pair. Johansson played right side next to Ed in GR, but asking a rookie to play off hand on the 2nd pair is pretty extreme when Ed hasn’t even played a full season yet.

  8. I’d love to see Kasper or Mazur get some ice time over Berggren. Or others?

These “obvious” line combinations almost never feel right to me.

First line is good, but I want to see Berggren grow. His offense will be stifled with Veleno and Motte as linemates. Put him with Kane and it could be way more effective than people expect, because they’re so down on Berggren now. Tarasenko will give Rasmussen and Copp an offensive weapon to help them out. And Rasmussen and Tarasenko are so big, I just like the idea of them out there wreaking havoc.

Johansson played with Edvinsson, on the right side. And everyone thought he played well. Just throw him out there on the second pair and see how it goes. That let’s us put Petry on the third pair where he belongs. And Maatta can rotate in if Gustafsson is able to play the right side.

I don’t like the idea of kane and tarasenko being on the same line just doesn’t feel right I would see
    Debrincat Larkin Raymond
    Berggren Compher Kane
    Rasmussen Copp Tarasenko
    Motte Veleno Fischer
    I see this as a 1st line 2 equal 2.5 lines and a 4th line
