  1. Marner isn't going anywhere so this is just some reporter trying to pull apart the leafs core. JT will not get a 7 or 8 Million AAV next contract so that is where it will save money for leafs to get another top Defensemen. JT might have south of 5 Million AAV

  2. Is there really an urgency to make a trade? I don't think so. When you sign a player you should honour the contract unless both parties agree to part ways. Let's see how it plays out and revisit at the trade deadline.

  3. 1000% they will keep marner and extend him for like 12.8 mill for 6+ years even though he dont deserve that money none of them do , 8 seasons of being ghosts in the playoffs when you guys have hyman out here looking like a star while our core 5 last 8 seaons in the playoffs looking like 3rd liners the experiment is done move on its time for cowan , minton knies to step up and grow around mathews and willy

  4. Like i get it marmer is a 90+ point guy sure but these 5 guys have never and will never do anything in the playoffs because they are soft and dont have the balls to play playoff style hockey they have had 8 seasons !!! To show us but lets keep kicking the tires they will eventually get there right ? Like common its over let tavares walk and try to unload marner if you cant because marner is a cry baby then let them both walk there is value in having that amount of cap space with minton and cowan 1-2 years away as long as this team has decent defense decent goalie and mathews and willy on the team we will still make playoffs … Thats the damn change we have needed since the MTL series

  5. I am sorry Andrew, I disagree with trading a young and talented elite player for three or four maybes and believe me no team is going to give us more than maybes for Mitch. I think Marner should be resigned in the 11.5 to 12.5Mil range with Tavares coming off the books and the cap increase. I would not resign Tavares for more than 3.0 to 3.5Mil as a third or fourth line center, if not then he should be let go, use the rest or all of Tavares money to bring in a couple or three big new guys for various positions to make the team tougher. Incidentally, letting Zadorov sign for 5.0Mil in Boston and not bringing him in to pair up with Tannev was a monumental mistake on the Leafs part. Remember how long it took Stamkos to be a winner, remember that Pasternak, Penarin, Zibanejad and even Sam Reinhart did not do much for their respective teams in the playoffs (or as was expected of them, and they had all the support around them). We need to stop running our stars or potential stars (Zack Hyman) out of town. Mitch is a talented elite player that needs proper support around him in order to perform and some nights he will shine and on other nights he will be quite, even MacJesus had those nights in the playoffs, some nights he had 3, 4, 5 points and some nights he had nothing, the point being that, the nights he went silent the support was there to come to the forefront. I do not even want to think who we will replace Mitch with, we need to come to our senses and be careful of what we wish for. Thank you for your great videos.

  6. I don’t think there has ever been an appetite to actually to move on from Mitch amongst the management and I’m not sure that’s the wrong call. If I’m Berube I want to coach this team with an elite playmaker like Marner on it. Find other ways to create depth.

  7. I keep hearing we cant lose him for free. Well yes you can and believe it or not it's not gonna be the end of the world. It just depends on how you use the cap space gained and which players you replace him with

  8. I recall you reminding listeners a few years ago that the cap should have been 95 to 100 mil but was flat because of the pandemic. Let's keep going now the cap is going up. If you look back at Tampa they had a lot of rookies or cheaper young players that got the work done

  9. They ain't trading Mitch. They will resign him by Xmas as he will play hot because it's a contract year. They won't let him walk for nothing. He will disappear in the playoffs next year and the Leafs will waste the Matthews era.

  10. Happy belated birthday bro! There's talk of JVR getting signed by the leafs..I wouldn't sign him

  11. Why can’t the GM sign Marner for 6 years and trade him on July2nd? It’s the only thing that makes sense. This way they don’t end up with nothing for him. Best thing to do instead of all this useless trade talk.

  12. They promised change and they are bringing the exact team back! Nylander has played harder than any leaf in the playoffs goodbye Mitch

  13. All of this is irrelevant. He's playing out the year…and the Leafs will let him walk. there will be several UFAs next season to lure to Toronto to frame out the roster better. PLUS, Tavares will take a discount. Marner has ONE LAST Playoffs to show something.

  14. The ship on a Marner trade has sailed by now imo, I hope they get an extension done I don’t want to lose him for nothing it will suck. The only way Mitch makes amends with the fans and the city is by taking a pay cut but everyone knows that won’t happen.

  15. So I have one question. Who is more likely to be the next Jordan Kyrou, 'Selke candidate' Mitch or 'don't try in my own end' Willie?

  16. Stay ffs. Trade a hhof in their prime? Ya every team wins dumping a franchise player. Fire shanny and Brad immediatly for fail in building around the core 5

  17. Seems to me, and this is just my opinion, that this all goes away if Marner says "i am not going anywhere" simple as that. Marner has not been shy about talking talking to the press in the past, so his silence about possibly moving is somewhat strange if he is not willing to move, It would not surprise me if he did move, although it would be to a team of his choice, and he would not do it unless there was a extension at great big dollars on the table before he would agree to go.

  18. Tavares for 5-6 million next year??? Like hell. If he wants to finish his career in Toronto, then he better be prepared to take Bergeron money $2-2.5/year

  19. I don't care what he does in the regular season. Our team scored the second most in the league last season… how'd he do in the 7 games after the regular season? We can stand to lose some of those points to gain what can work in the playoffs with better defense and grittier forwards.

  20. Trade Marner, then when lose in the 1st round next year, then who becomes the new scapegoat. First it was Freddie Anderson then Zack Hyman, now Mitch Marner Go Laffs Go

  21. How are they going to trade him when marners agent literally made a comment saying how marner intends on playing out his contract in toronto lmao?

  22. I don't think the Leafs are trading Marner if so it would have most likely happened before now, & if they did have plans to trade him they had better get key players back that will make a huge difference in the lineup otherwise they lose the trade & lose all his regular season points.

What I believe is gonna happen is they will let Berube work with him see if he buys into what Berube is selling as far as how he wants him to play bit more defensively sound if that works then we all wait to see how he performs in the playoffs if he's still here?

But just trading Marner for the sake of making a trade & losing it makes the team worse.

So it is crucial what the Leafs intent is with Marner bc you don't want to let him walk for nothing either once his contract ends.

At first I was all for trading him after the Leafs got eliminated now my thoughts are this let the Leafs take calls for Marner if something benefits the Leafs in a proposed deal take it to Marner see of he will agree?

The Leafs have to handle this very very carefully bc if you ruin his confidence this season & he doesn't produce they may be fighting just to get into the playoffs…

Berube will be the man to handle Marner the right way as it is a clean slate.

What happens from that point we all will see how it all plays out.

I personally would bring proposals to Marner at the trade deadline see if it makes sense for both involved & go from there.

Otherwise he is walking in the summer & the Leafs get nothing back & take another L in contract negotiations.
