He clearly is way too good for the MHL and playing another season there won’t achieve anything. SKA is stacked so his chance of making the team is very unlikely and we have the money to make a deal with them (wouldn’t be surprised if they make that money back in the first season just from jersey sales tbh). I’ll say the chances are good that he comes in NA sooner than we thought.

How does sending money to ska even work with Russian sanction tho? Did the flyers really send money to Ska of all teams (owned by Gazprom) to get them to release Michkov from his contract (sources?) ? Morality aside, how does that even work legally?

I believe this is what HuGo have been trying to do since the draft. That would explain why no trade have been made yet. They are waiting to see what happens and then trade accordingly.

Yes he’s too good for the MHL but if it’s where he’s ending up with her could round his game up to be a complete player plus put on some growth/weight for next year.

Coupla FAX for all you knuckleheads:
– A KHL team, for each game, is given two extra optional lineup spots which may be used only for junior-age players (20 and under, for the sake of brevity.)
– Demidov is currently the only player on their official roster who fits that definition, but they can call up other kids from their MHL team to fill those spots.
– SKA really like Demidov, unlike Michkov whom they allegedly found insufferable and couldn’t get rid of fast enough. So IF (big IF) SKA decide Demidov makes them a more competitive team, even if he’s just playing the customary ~8 rookie minutes per night, there’s a world in which they will take him onboard even though they’re technically “wasting” a development spot on a player who will be gone next year.
– And yes, Stu is literally just regurgitating what Hughes said at the draft—there’s no news in this article.

Ideally he makes the KHL, that would be solid from a development perspective even if he plays 10-12 minutes a night.
The jump from the MHL to NHL is very big and i’d rather avoid it if possible.

A few reasons why this is in NO WAY a performance issue with the Demigod.
The Ska team with Rotenberg at the helm makes all rookies EARN their minutes. They already have a FULL roster plus the new edition of Kuznetsov.
I also cannot see Ska waisting any resources on Demidov unless they know they will get something out of it.
Personally I really hope the boys in Montreal know which ‘ wheels they have to grease. ‘ to make sure Demidov gets the best of everything he needs to keep improving and growing his game. And…spread even more grease around to make sure he comes over to Montreal in a timely fashion.
I really hope the KHL has relaxed their rules on the ‘ personal player buyouts ‘. The last time I heard the players had to pay from their personal funds to obtain their freedom papers. No idea how Michkov got the dough…unless the Flyers paid. 🤷🏻♂️
So hyped about this kid.
Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf and Demidov are a much better core 4 than ANY other random blue team in the east.

Makes sense. The club knows he’s leaving at the end of the season. They’ll bait MTL in throwing cash at them by playing him on the fourth line or demoted to MHL. The former probably. I expect by Nov-Dec MTL will try to bring him over.

I know everyone excited about demigod… i’m too bit if he end up playing one year in KHL its not the end of the world either. Just hope the MTL pressure dont get to him being so young… on the otherside, his attitude seem to fuel to that so maybe im wrong, I hope

I don’t really understand khl decision making much, why do they want to sit out guys like Demidov and michkov? You’d think they help ticket sales and just overall performance. Is it purely just spite because they know they will leave?
