San Jose’s shark has signed a defender Mario Ferraro with a four -year contract extension, the club announced Thursday. The team did not reveal the contract details. “Mario has shown that he is a dynamic and reliable defender for our club, skating minutes and high-level minutes against the best competition every night and gives solid results,” said GM Hik Mike Grier. “Energy and work ethic are the reasons why he has reached so much in the early parts of his career, and we hope to be able to witness it to continue to grow and lift his role in the team.” Ferraro, 23, has two goals and 12 assists in 63 matches last season. He led San Jose in a blocked shot and ranked third in Hit. Ferraro has 42 points in 180 career NHL matches, all with sharks. San Jose chose the native Toronto in the second round of the 2017 NHL Draft.
