  1. It feels really odd to see people saying Veleno's deal is an overpay when his performance was comparable to Rasmussen's performance at ~$1m less. Veleno's deal is fine. We're gonna sign Seider and Raymond, and still have cap space regardless of whether or not we sign Berggren.

    I feel like people forget about intangibles in signings like this. At face value you see a slight overpay (even just from analytically i don't see it) but people REALLY forget the fact that this signing gives us two years (instead of one year he would have received in arb) plus he still remains under team control as RFA in two seasons.

    I still feel like Veleno can take another step. He can be a 15 goal (35pt) guy, that will eventually be apart of the mentor group for young prospects. He'll play 4C and PK2 and do fine at this AAV for us.
