Not sure why anyone thinks Dubas is a brilliant mind. Dude has under achieved annually, and he overpaid Marner, Tavares and Nylander. As a Red Wings fan, I can comfortably expect that Yzerman will get us to a second round well before Dubas gets his squad that far in the postseason.

Dumb move as they protect an average defenceman in Holl and let go a forward who based on a full 82 games looks to be a 70 plus point player that could also improve the power play and give them secondary scoring. Lot’s of J.Holl type defenceman in the league.
For a team that really needed forward depth against Montreal because Thornton, Simmonds, Engvall and Mikheyev were completely inept and just wasted roster slots, it is unbelievable that we just give away a great forward to keep a 30-year old defensemen that only plays well with Muzzin when defense wasn't the reason we lost the series in the first place. Good asset management there Dubas! I swear, the pitchforks will come for your job when McCann becomes an almost PPG player on the Kraken due to more icetime.
You better play Robertson and several of the forward Russian prospects we have instead of more dinosaur free agents stealing their roster spots. They are already in their 20's… just play them already.
Also, trade Reilly already and actually get something for him. I'm so tired of so many of our assets just walking and we get nothing for them. Trade Reilly and find a way to sign Dougie Hamilton and get this team playoff ready.

And this is why the Leafs will never get out of the first round. This chicken, doesn’t have the balls to do what needs to be done.
Protect Kerfoot expose Holl and Dermot you can replace either of them with either Sandin or Liljegren or package Hallander to get a better defenceman or forward after the draft.

Dumas just keeps proving that he has no idea how to build a NHL team!!!! Let a heart and sole player like Hyman leave for only 5.5 and keep Nylander !!!!! The Leafs never should have let Lou go. You can bet you’re ass Lou wouldn’t have caved to Nylander and Marner ‘s contract demands!!!! Nylander would be rotting in the KHL

Leafs had Sandin and Lilly ready to step in to support the D – we are 8 deep on D, and paper thin at forward…yet he protects the less valuable asset to let McCann walk.
And if you're telling me Sandin and Lilly aren't ready to step up then what the hell is going on with our player development?
This decision to protect Holl was a good one. The decisions that led up to this being the best choice… That's another story..
Obviously the Leafs aren't yet interested in competing if Dubas is still speaking for them. He ain't Theo Epstein folks.

So we are running it back but without the two Zack’s. Not sure how the team will be better. We’ll see who they bring in, but would be surprised if they are better then those two.

Protecting holl over mccaan was as good of a decision a trading a first for a rental that played like 15 games for you 👎👎👎

McCann is easier to replace than Holl, bottom line. Why break up top 4, when we we have 2 top lines already (no matter who plays left wing on either line). Time to stop blaming dubas – it’s on Matthew’s, Marner, JT & Willy Styles to turn this team into a playoff winner. They have the talent, and they get paid , to win – so time they start winning when it counts. JT’s injury was obviously a freak accident, outside of his control.
Kyle Dubas is a smart man…They will make the necessary changes…get a little tougher, faster, younger…a little more grit, hunger…another goalie…all will be fine. We are close…just could not finish last year…its coming…win or learn…a great year ahead…GO LEAFS GO
