New York Islanders – UBS Arena: MUST SEE 4K Time-Lapse

EarthCam captured over 1,000,000 images from 10 different angles to chronicle the construction of the New York Islanders’ new home, UBS Arena.

This two and a half minute time-lapse showcases over two years of construction, starting at the ground-breaking in September 2019. This state-of-the-art venue is the only one in the metro New York area that’s built for hockey. The arena is equipped with the largest scoreboard in New York State and a 23k sq ft locker room and player campus.

  1. Construction cost $1 billion (including development) and Construction on the Lighthouse Project was not planned to begin until at least mid-2009. Nassau County approved the project in 2006 on a 16–2 vote, and the draft environmental impact statement was completed after a state-mandated environmental review… The Lighthouse Project was then expected to go before the Town of Hempstead for approval on a change in land zoning. However, the approval was never granted. After the October 2009 deadline passed, the Long Island Press reported the Lighthouse Project's cancellation!! Nice view!!!

  2. Funny thing about the Islanders playing the Flames for opening night is that the exterior of the UBS Arena is what many of us in Calgary would call Stampeditecture. It looks just like the architecture of buildings around Stampede park like the current northwest face of the BMO Centre. A lot of people in Calgary consider Stampeditecture to be outdated and gaudy. I gotta say that the interior though is 👌

  3. I was at the Islanders' opening night last night at the new arena. None of the photos and videos I've seen of that arena does it justice. It's an absolute palace. I wish there was a way to show by video. Perhaps once day immersive video will mature to show that. I've followed the Earthcam videos since ground was broken, and the fish eye lens does distort the more distant details that make it appear smaller. This arena is gigantic.

Once you are immersed inside that campus and inside arena bowl. You feel the majestic energy of the building's artistic and architectural form. I can't wait to go again … and can't wait to see a concert there.

  4. I have a feeling that the WWE will bring there PPV event "Summer Slam" to this venue. Only because they brought it to the Nassau Coliseum back in 2002.

  5. I love the look of this building. It almost seems steampunk-esque. Not ultra-modern like so many arenas are now.

  6. الف شكر على الاختصار لكل الجهود العملاقه والعظيمه بداية من غابه وانتهاء باعظم مدينه

  7. State of the art arena! One of the best in the NHL! Islanders were long overdue to have the proper home! The old barn was great for the 70's and 80's but by the late 90's Islanders should have been out of there. Hurt them with free agents big time.
