  1. No Laine please I no all about him (wpg mb) mbe if that happens the way you deciscribed at the ending mbe that way ??

  2. Nope stay the course! Too soon to bring in someone like that and too many bad contracts to unload maybe after the Price contract is gone in two years and Gallagher and Anderson only have a year left!

  3. If the Jackets retain 50% of the salary maybe but if not nope! Also with the pressure on Laine in Montreal I’d be worried he might end up back in the player assistance program! We don’t want a Drouin situation again!!!

  4. If you don’t trust SKA and KHL then you should trust less Demidov mysteriously doesn’t sign a new KHL contract for 3 more years!
There’s no honor amongst organized crime bosses!

  5. We seem to be in the minority Coach but Laine-Dach would look awesome on the second line. I'm confident Marty could work his magic with him and only 2 years remaining so little risk anyways. If he turns it around he becomes a great trade piece at the deadline next season in the least. Only think is I'd push to have Columbus retain some salary. Low risk-potential high reward move…

  6. I am with you Coach regarding Demidov. I have not seen a comment from Les Canadiens in having a development plan in place with SKA. If there was one, then why not comment?

Regarding Laine, I have 3 concerns: (1) He has been in the assistance program for awhile (2) Does he have the positive attitude and attributes that Hugo have been drafting in players as he needs to fit (3) He has missed a lot of games the past 5 seasons. Habs will obviously have to do a lot of due diligence to see if he will be a good fit.

  7. If they do their due diligence and his mind is in the right place- I'd make that move for the assets you're suggesting…Very little risk and does not block anyone or have long term issues with their plan…

  8. YES to Laine!!! Too much upside not to much of a gamble. We will know right away if he will work out and then plan to keep or not

  9. no 12 for me. the timming is perfect to test a player like Laine; no pressure for immediate results. the D-squad is starting to look like 1973 lol

  10. 100% onboard for Laine with your proposed trade. My concerns with him are minimal, if any. I believe he is a low risk, high reward opportunity.

  11. I would trade for Laine IF we can get Anderson in the trade somehow.
    I would do the Mesar & 3rd & Anderson… In a dream, a defender instead of Mesar.
This way when Laine us done in 2 years, we only have the Gallagher cintract for a year.
Also, for Draisitl… Sorry no. Too much in one player AND, I know Hughes loves financial flexibility. We would lose that.

  12. Agreed with Coach on the importance of waiting how our own talent pool develops before committing to a high end deal for one player worth $10-$12 million.

I'm almost positive that Hughes & Gorton will not deviate from their rebuild plan and will not act hastily which would possibly cause them to make a mistake.

The rebuild is about quality, not quantity and patience is required.

As for Laine I see a huge red flag. The fact that he is or was in the players' assistance program would not bode well for him playing in a hot and high pressure market like the HABS.

He would be under the microscope and constant scrutiny. He could crumble like a house of cards IMO.

  13. 100% should get Leon Draisaitl and pair him with Dach and Demidov or as I'm calling it the Dirty D Line. Sick ass line. Then you've got Slaf, Suzuki, Caufield another sick line. Then 3rd Newhook, Roy, Hage, or Messar, or Beck. This is a very good line. Dancing around with short term players is pointless now, it's time to lock in and go for gold and the 3 lines I just listed I think can do it. 12 million for 7 years puts his contract in UFA around the same time as Suzuki, Caufield, and Slaf so if you have not won by then, then you can trade them all and start over. He's getting this money one way or another, why not use the goal scoring talent for the Habs to win a cup. Sorry Coach, your low risk low return lack luster approach is not what is needed. Time to make a big splash.

  14. When I look at how the salary structure appears, I think the Habs will try to spread more around the team. 3rd, 4th line players are very important, if we have 4 excellent lines, we will be able to win more games, all lines scoring, great defensive forwards. I don't Montreal to become like Toronto, they won't ever win with that "Core 4" idea, it takes a 23 man roster to win, even more so now!

  15. Patrik Laine is a good player for a team that needs to hit their Cap Space minimum , and nothing more. No NEED (or WANT) for this player on the Montreal Canadiens.

  16. Hutson is no Unicorn , but he could be a Elite player , with a little bit of patience (and some time in the AHL). Montreal should not make the same mistake with Hutson as they did with Guhle & Harris. Just suggesting.
