Islanders sign Ryan Pulock to eight year, $49 2M contract extension

The New York Islanders have agreed to an eight-year contract extension with defenceman Ryan Pulock, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman can confirm.The deal carries an average annual value of $6.15 million.Pulock, 27, is entering the final year of a two-year, $10-million deal he signed in November 2020.This season will be his seventh with the Islanders, the only team he’s played for — the club drafted him 15th overall in 2013.The Dauphin, Man.,native has been a mainstay on New York’s blue line since 2017-18.Over the last four seasons, he’s produced 121 points and a plus-40 rating in 274 games, and been a key defensive presence for an Islanders team that’s gone on back-to-back Conference Final runs.Last playoffs, he made headlines in Game 4 of the Conference Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning with a game-saving play late in third.The Islanders begin their 2021-22 campaign Thursday night against the Carolina Hurricanes.
