Is it unfair to young players to attach wildly optimistic expectations for goals scored?
Think back to Caufield after his 2021 debut, the media and fan base were ripe with expectations of 40 plus goals in 21-22.
What happened? He couldn’t buy a goal for quite awhile (squeezing the stick?).
He ended up scoring 23 but also ended up hurt.
I think Caufield will score between 35 & 40 goal this year.
Depends on the situation Coach- in that scenario, are they having cap issues and have to choose between Caufield and their 2nd line center or one of their top D? If so, you may have to move him in 4 or 5 years and have a younger less expensive player take his place on the wing…either way- this is a crazy what if future scenario
What is the point of this post?
Celebrini has made it clear that lane Hutson is one of the most special players he has ever seen. Celebrini is most likely going to play in the nhl this year. I think hutson should also start in the NHL. He played two games and got assists. With a team that is focused on improving special teams for pp amd pk. This is the year your bring in the players that are pretty of that solution. Hutson on defence , and Beck as 3 c. If your focus on players that are not part of the future like Dvorak and Savard, then you are not progressing.
Thanks Coach…lots of information gathered for this daily…Thank you for all your work in getting good information to HAB fans.
Kind of on summer hockey hiatus Coach but I'll be back for the show about our beloved Expos. Still scarred from 1994 which was effectively the beginning of the end. Hutson to me will start the season in the NHL. Demidov still a question mark when he comes over but in the least I think he'll be in our top 6 after next season.
Demidov is the Habs besr]]r foward.
Hutson should not play in the AHL at all, in my humble opinion. There is nothing there for him to gain in the AHL… only stands to risk getting injured. A player like Hutson should only play in the AHL when the NHL team is competitive and cannot risk a defensive liability. In the Habs case they shouldn’t care if he’s a defensive liability at this time because they are not competing for a cup or playoffs and it would be better for the team to Finnish in a bottom 10 in the league and get another good draft pick next year. Hutson needs to get used to the speed, physicality and rigorous 82 game season. Let him get lots of points to give a bright spot on what should be another poor season for the Habs.
Except for a future conditioning stint. Hutson will never be in the AHL. His value on the power play will keep him in Montreal to start the season.
