Love this analysis. Would love a defensive analysis. Hughes and Makar are the greatest defenseman of this current generation. I don't think we'll see the likes of these two again any time soon. The McDavid and Mackinnon of defense.
Hughes better
I never realised how different these 2 players are and how differently they play. I dont watch much of either team but I never realised how much makar lets his tm8s drive the play compared to hughes. Great that u made this video to show that there are multiple ways to achieve the same goal. Would love to see the defensive breakdown also even though the systems they play also effect that.
Defensemen like Makar and Hughes make it look so easy, but watch most other teams and their D canāt get a puck to the net, every shot gets blocked. Itās so frustrating to watch forward battle and cycle just to throw it up to the D who more often than not make boneheaded plays.

Pla go on the D side also. I feel like Quinn is better all around player and i want, and this Defense vid might prove me wrong or right
Hughes did nothing in the playoffs when he actually played against solid competition. I think Roman JoSi dominates more than Hughes. Hughes is overrated to the maximum level. Heās actually not as fast as what he should be being a little guy. Iād take Evan Bouchard over him to run my PP any day and weād win more. Hughes is a liability in the playoffs against the big boys. And it isnāt because heās little. Itās because of his play style. Sam Girard has more agility and puck dominance even. The only reason Sami girard doesnāt put up big numbers is because makar is in the team.
