On today’s episode of Locked On Stars, Joey explains why he believes Dallas Stars goalie Jake Oettinger will have a career year next season. Otter’s last season was funky, dealing with an injury midway through the season, inconsistent play while posting his statistical worst season of his young career but still being named an All-Star. Joey compares the first four seasons of Oettinger to other greats such as Carey Price, Marc-Andre Fluery and Andrei Vasilevskiy and predicts Otter will put together his best season and be a Vezina finalist. Also, NHL Network put out their Top 10 goalies right now list and Oettinger comes in at seven. Is it too high or too low? Or is it just right in your opinion? Joey dissects the list and proposes changes he would make to it at this point. In the final segment, Joey takes a look at what Oettinger will have to improve on next season using Sean Shapiro’s latest article as a guide.

This is the year he has to prove himself if he wants a good raise in his next contract. I reckon he is going to be great.
Otter is a head case. The kid could be great, but has periods of the season and playoffs where he wilts. The Stars need him to grow up fast or look elsewhere!!

Yes, you have good tandem.. I´d say second best in the west and core is intact still. Stars will go to the conferens Finals, again.
You will have 10 great Otter years to come.
If they go to the Conferece Finals then they should go to the very end right away.
I think Jake Oettinger is one of the best goalies in the NHL, I think he has to be more consistent in his game. I understand the confidence loss after he got injured 🤕 but it seems like his level of performance has been up and down. He hasn’t played at that elite level for quite some time. Granted he was an NHL All Star, I’d like to see him play at a higher level consistently that’s what the top goalies in the NHL do every game. I don’t think he’s a top 5 goalie, in my opinion he’s probably top 10 at the most top 15 at the lower end. The Stars as a team must get over the hump of the Western Conference Final. He’s got the potential to be a top 5 goalie to play at an elite level. A top 5 goalie that comes to my mind is Igor Systerken with the New York Rangers he consistently plays at a high level. He really needs to be that guy this year to prove himself as Goalie 1.
