I found this jersey at a garage sale in Ohio. I’m a mild fan of the Bluejackets but love old hockey jerseys. As far as I can tell, based on the name and number, I would suspect Esa Tikkanen but It doesn’t appear he ever played for the Sabres. Any explanation would be appreciated. Thanks

Curious. Is it really old? Could it be a jersey made for the draft that we obviously didn’t get the pick? I dunno edit: he was picked at 214 so Def not
Gotta be a fan made jersey, possibly Tikkanen was their favorite player and the Sabres were their favorite team, so maybe it was a wishful thinking thing.
According to Wikipedia, George Strawbridge named a racehorse Tikkanen (in honor of the hockey player) and that horse won the Breeder’s Cup Turf in 1994. Gotta have something to do with it, right?
